Islamic based Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy Approach Group Counseling to Reduce Delinquent Behaviors

Abstract

This study was conducted at Public Islamic High School 2 Semarang (MAN 2 Ito examine the effectiveness of Islamic-based REBT approach group counseling to reduce students’ delinquent behaviors. For more, the study belonged to experimental study with the design of pre-test – post-test control group, and involved fourteen eleventh grade students. Their data were collected through the adapted instrument of activities delinquent scale resulted from Paired sample t-test. Based on the results of paired sample t-test, it was known that the Islamic-based REBT approach group counseling was effective to reduce students’ delinquent behaviors (t(6) = 7.36, p < 0.01). This finding confirms that the Islamic-based REBT approach group counseling implemented through akhlak (good character), sholat (Islamic worship), fasting, dhikr, and prayer is effective to reduce students’ delinquent behaviors.

Abstract

This study attempted to examine the effectiveness group guidance of mind mapping to improve critical thingking skills. The study used pre-test and multiple post test method. The subjects in this study were eight students of grade tenth from Vocational Public High School (SMK, Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan) Negeri 2 Semarang. The data collection process utilized critical thinking scale targeting on six aspects, they are: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, conclusion, explanation, and self-regulation. The analysis used repeated measure ANOVA. The results showed the significant increase in critical thinking (F2.14 = 74.66 p < 0.01). The finding of this study confirmed that the group guidance of mind mapping is effective in improving critical thinking skills of students in SMK Negeri 2 Semarang.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of physical attractiveness and gender on self disclosure. This study has two independent variables and one dependent variable. The subjects in this study were students of SMAN 12 Semarang then 118 students were taken as research subjects. The data analysis technique used was 2-way ANAVA test and average difference. The results showed that the physical attractiveness and gender counselor had an influence on self disclosure. And, the counselors interested and female counselors are preferred more. This research proved that there was an interaction between physical attractiveness and gender with self disclosure for students in Semarang City, Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the pattern of development of aspirations of students of SD, SMP, andSMA. The subject of this study was students of SD, SMP and SMA Semarang with a totalof 300 students selected using cluster random sampling technique. The data collectiontechnique used was CASR (Career Aspiration Scale-Revised) instruments. To answer the problem of the study, mixedmethod research was usedwith a sequential explanatory model design. The data analysis technique was donethrough two stages, namely quantitative data analysis (Cross-SectionalSurvey) with two-way and qualitative data analysis (ANOVA) with ethnographic methods. The results showed that gender did not have a significant effect on the development of student career aspirations, on the other hand, the level of education had a significant effect on the development of student career aspirations, especially in the aspects of Achievement and Leadership. This study provided counselors with an understanding of the career aspirations of the students, andas seen today, the career aspirations formed by students in careerdevelopment is important.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of the counseling group in rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) and reframing technique to reduce learning helplessness in students. Randomized Pre-test–Post-test Comparison Group Design was appliedto 14 students at YADIKA Senior High School Lubuklinggau. The instrument used is the scalelearned helplessness. Data analysis techniques used were a one-wayANOVA test and post hoc test. The results showed that the counseling group REBT and reframing techniques were effective in reducing learning helplessness in students. The findings of this study prove the effectiveness of group counseling services with REBT and reframing techniques in students at Lubuklinggau, Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examinedthe effect of achievement goal on homework behavior and achievementemotionas a mediator for high school students in Sukoharjo Regency. Four hundred twenty-fourhigh school students in Sukoharjo Regency by cluster purposive sampling were usedin the study. Mediation analysis was applied to test the effects of achievement emotionmediation on the achievement goal of homework behavior. The results of structural equation modeling show the effects of emotional mediation of pleasure in connecting with concentration and effort. Furthermore, the task approach, task avoidance, and other avoidances directly affect enjoyment; the task approach and other avoidances affect anxiety; the task approach, task avoidance, and enjoymentare influencing business and concentration. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings are discussedin the article.
Rational Emotive Group Counseling Behavior Therapy on Self-Esteem and Addiction Game Online

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group counseling with rational emotive behavior therapy approach to increase self-esteem and reducing online gaming addiction. This study design using non-equivalent control group pre-test – post-test design. Purposive sampling technique is used to select 14 students as research subjects. Each 7 students are placed in the experimental group and a control group so that the two groups had the same initial conditions. MANOVA test results showed that group counseling rational emotive behavior therapy approach is effective in improving self-esteem (F3.10= 24.237; p < 0.01) and reducing online gaming addiction (F3.10=29.756; p < 0.01). Furthermore, the Wilcoxon test results showed that the experimental group an increase in self-esteem (z = -2.371; p < 0.05), and a decrease in online gaming addiction (z = -2.375; P <0.05) were significant. While the control group an increase in self-esteem (z =-.175; p > 0.05) and a decrease in online gaming addiction (z = -1.342; p > 0.05) did not occur significantly. The findings of this study confirms that counseling group with rational emotive behavior therapy approach is effective in improving self-esteem and lower addicted to online games.
Reality Group Counseling to Increase Emotional Intelligence and Happiness

Abstract

This research was design to examine and analyze the effectiveness of reality group counseling to increase emotional intelligence and happiness of students. This study used a pre-test – post-test control group design. The purposive sampling technique was used to select 14 students as experimental subjects placed randomly into two groups so that each group consisted of seven students. The MANOVA test results showed that reality group counseling is effective in increasing emotional intelligence (F(3.10) = 106.453; ηp2 = 0.939; p < 0.01) and happiness (F(3.10) = 261.248; ηp2 = 0.969; p < 0.01). Furthermore, the Paired Sample t-test results showed that in the experimental group there was an increase in emotional intelligence (t = t(3.10) = 16.051; p < 0.01) and happiness t(3.10) = 29.289, p < 0.01) The control group showed no significant increase in the level of emotional intelligence t(3.10) = 2.750, p > 0.05) and happiness t(3.10) = 2.066, p > 0.05). The findings of this study conveyed that the reality group counseling is effective in increasing emotional intelligence and happiness.
Forgivingness and Subjective Well-Being of the Female Prisoners

Abstract

The meaningless feeling of the female prisoners may give some impacts on their psychological and subjective well-being. The forgivingness is needed so that in the future, the prisoners can feel the happiness physically and mentally to continue their life. The research is aimed at understanding the forgivingness and subjective well-being of the female prisoners as well as the implications to the counseling guidance. The research applied the qualitative research design with a phenomenology approach. The data sources were from 4 female prisoners who were suitable for the research characteristics. The data analysis technique was Miles and Huberman’s model of qualitative data analysis technique. The results of the research show that the forgivingness and subjective well-being of the female prisoners were correlated one to another. Both the forgivingness and subjective well-being were built from the surrounding, appearing in various psychological and spiritual responses. Those responses formed perceptions of family acceptance, self-commitment, and life purposes. The research shows that self-perception is very important in the forgivingness and subjective well-being of the female prisoners.
Spiritual Well Being in The Elderly

Abstract

Spiritual well-being is one of the causes of the attitude of the elderly in everyday life. These conditions can experience changes depending on how the environment affects them. This study has the purpose of determining the psychological impact of factors caused can affect the condition of the spiritual well-being of the elderly. This study used a phenomenological research design using the research data sources of 2 elderly and five respondents (4 nurses, and one ustadzah) as informants. Data analysis using qualitative data analysis techniques model of Miles, and Huberman. The results of the study showed that spiritual well-being could experience an increase and decrease. This is influenced by several factors such as attention from relatives, full of desires, attention from nurses and elderly colleagues, and the role of religious teachers in assisting the elderly. Increased spiritual well-being is characterized by a cheerful attitude, not easy to complain and more passionate about reciting. Meanwhile, the decline in spiritual well-being often leads to an attitude of despair, anger, and even rebellion.
