Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze CBT group counseling with stress inoculation training and thought to stop techniques to improve students’ academic hardiness. Meanwhile, the design used was pre-test and multiple post-test by involving 16 subjects of the study chosen by using purposive sampling from total 280 students of Public Senior High School 1 Godong. Their data were collected though the Hardiness Scale. Furthermore, repeated measure anova analysis showed that CBT group counseling with stress inoculation training and thought stopping techniques was effective to improve students’ academic hardiness. These findings assert that CBT group counseling with stress inoculation training and thought stopping techniques is effective to improve students’ academic hardiness.

Abstract

Self-efficacy focuses on the component of self-confidence that a person has in doing his tasks including career decision making. To be able to decide the career appropriately, students need confidence in making choices based on their abilities. This study aimed to improve self-efficacy in students’ career decision making through group counseling with symbolic modeling technique. The experimental research method with one group pre-test post-test design was used and involved eight students as group members. After their data were analyzed by using the Wilcoxon test, it showed that group counseling with symbolic modeling technique was effective to improve self-efficacy in students’ career decision making. Further, the discussion of this study is directed at identifying the implication of group counseling with symbolic modeling technique to improve self-efficacy in students’ career decision making.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy group counseling with cognitive restructuring and problem-solving techniques to reduce the anxiety of the students of Akademi Kebidanan Abdi Husada Semarang. The study used an experimental method with the randomized pre-test – post-test comparison group. It involved 18 female students of AKBID Abdi Husada who had anxiety in the clinical clerkship. These 18 students were divided into three groups, namely the group of group counseling with cognitive restructuring technique, group counseling with problem-solving technique, and group counseling with the combination of cognitive restructuring and problem-solving techniques. The results showed that students who joined group counseling could reduce their anxiety. However, the reduction was more effective when using the combination of both cognitive restructuring and problem-solving techniques. These findings showed that group counseling with cognitive restructuring and problem-solving techniques is effective to reduce female students’ anxiety.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of reality group counseling confrontation techniques for students with self-control and low self-perception with the tendency of problematic internet use behavior. This study uses Manova design involving 14 students. The technique of analyzing data used is Manova. The statistical results show that reality of group counseling has been shown to be effective in improving self-control and low self-perception. This finding proves that the counseling of reality groups is an effective confrontation technique to improve self-control and self-perception in problematic internet use students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of rational emotive behavior therapy group counselingto reduce the loneliness through increasing self-adjustment to new college students at Borneo Tarakan University. The research method used was an experimental design, the design of pre-test – post-test control group involving 16 subjects who purposively selected from 79 students. The result showed that there was an indirect effect given to the rational emotive behavior therapy group counselingtowards loneliness through increasing self-adjustment to new college students. This study provides an understanding for counselors regarding rational emotive behavior therapy group counselingin reducing the loneliness through increasing self-adjustment to new college students.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavior Therapy counseling to reduce the social anxiety of blind students in Jepon State Special Schools or Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) Negeri Jepon. To achieve such objective, the study used single-subject design with the pattern of multiple baselines across individuals done in eleven sessions of observation, namely three baseline A1 sessions, five times intervention session, and three baseline A2 sessions. For more, the subjects of this study were two blind students indicated experiencing social anxiety. In this state, behavior target was reduced from social anxiety behavior. Meanwhile, the data of the observed subjects were collected thorough direct observation method with Goal Attainment Scale guides. Further, visual graph analyses were carried out to look for mean, the degree of level of performance, rapidity behavior change, the trend of performance, stability levels, and overlap data which were then followed by t score and z score calculations. The results showed that Cognitive Behavior Therapy counseling was able to reduce social anxiety. Therefore, the undertaken study asserts that Cognitive Behavior Therapy counseling is effective to reduce the social anxiety of the blind students in SLB Negeri Jepon.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy Group Counseling to Increase Academic Resilience and Self-Efficacy

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze the effectiveness of Solution Focused Brief Therapy group counseling to increase academic resilience and self-efficacy. This study used a pre-test – post-test control group design. The purposive sampling technique was used to select 14 students as experimental subjects who placed randomly into two groups so that each group consisted of seven students. The MANOVA test results showed that Solution Focused Brief Therapy counseling group was effective in increasing academic resilience (F(3.10) = 36.40; ηp2 = 0.91; p < 0.01) and self-efficacy (F(3.10) = 40.62; ηp2 = 0.92; p < 0.01). Furthermore, the Wilcoxon test results showed that in the experimental group there was an enhancement in academic resilience (Z = -2.38; p < 0.05) and self-efficacy (Z = -2.41; p < 0.05). The control group showed an enhancement in academic resilience (Z = -2.53; p < 0.05) but self-efficacy showed there was not enhancement (Z = -1.85; p > 0.05). The findings of this study conveyed that the Solution Focused Brief Therapy counseling group was effective in increasing academic resilience and self-efficacy.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of group counseling with self-instruction and cognitive restructuring techniques to improve career decision making self-efficacy of the Twelfth Grade (Class XII) students of Public Senior High School 1 Brebes (SMA Negeri 1 Brebes). The method used to this study was an experimental method with the experimental design of randomized pre-test post-test comparison group. For more, the collected data were analyzed by using one way ANOVA. The results showed that group counseling with cognitive restructuring technique, self-instruction technique, and the combination of both techniques was effective to improve career decision making self-efficacy. Further, the group counseling with self-instruction and cognitive restructuring techniques was more effective to improve career decision making self-efficacy compared to the counseling which used one technique only. Therefore, this study can give considerations to the possibility of using self-instruction and cognitive restructuring techniques as an intervention to improve the career decision making self-efficacy of SMA students.
Self-Efficacy, Goal Orientations, and Religious Moral Orientations on Academic Dishonesty

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the prediction of self-efficacy, goal orientations, and religious moral orientations on academic dishonesty. The design used in this study was explanatory correlational research design. On the one hand, the samples were gathered through cluster random sampling technique and resulted 275 students. The results showed that: (1) self-efficacy possessed significant influence on academic dishonesty (β = -0,141; p < 0.05). (2) Mastery goals and Performance goals influenced academic dishonesty (β = -0.21; p < 0.05 and β = 0.34; p < 0.05). (3) Religious moral orientations contributed no significant influence on academic dishonesty (β = -0,102; p > 0.05). In conclusion, this study gives understanding to counselors regarding the prediction of the involvement of self-efficacy, goal orientations, and religious moral orientations on academic dishonesty.
