Abstract

The purpose of the research was to study the effect of Aspergillus rice bran fermentation on intestinal characteristic (pH, intestinal digest viscosity, proteolitic intestinal digest activity) and internal organs weights (liver, bile, pancreas). The materials used for this research were 96 Lohman broiler chicks with average initial body weight of 47,99 ± 4,93 g without difference on the sexes. The method used Complete Random Plan (RAL) with 4 treatments ie control (P0), control + 5% rice bran fermentation (P1), control + 10% rice bran fermentation (P2), and control + 15% rice bran fermentation (P3) with repeated 6 times. If there were significant influence it would be further tested with Duncan’s Multiple range Test (BNT). The result showed that treatments gave very significantly affected (P0.05) on internal organs. The conclusion is that the using of 15% rice bran fermentation gives the best result based on intestinal characteristics

Abstract

Agricultural extension activity in agricultural development acts as a bridge between farmers and agricultural extension agency in order to inform agriculture innovation to support and to enhance farmer business. The study aimed to determine the farmers' assessment of the role of agricultural extension investigators as an agent of change (facilitators, dynamists/liaisons and motivators) with success level of farmers. This research was carried out for 6 months, in the working area of Agricultural Extension Center of Dau Sub District of Malang Regency. The population sample was farmer groups consisted of 6 groups of beginner, 5 groups of advanced, and 3 groups of middle. The study found that farmers' assessment of the role of agricultural extension as an agent of change as a facilitator and dynamist/liaison, was not good enough and as a motivator had not been optimal yet. The success of farmers in farming in the last growing season is not good even though farmers are already implementing any new innovations with awareness. The relationship between farmers' assessment of the role of agricultural extension as a change agent with the success of farmers in farming was as facilitators, motivator, and dynamist affected the success of farmers in farming on the implementation of changes in farming activities and income of the last planting season

Abstract

Photoperiod is the relative ratio between the length of time during the night. The response is the development of the plant against photoperiod called photoperiodism. Vegetative growth that is affected is the formation of bulbs and tubers, branching, leaf shape, the formation of pigment, hair formation, root development, seed dormancy and death. Reproductive growth is influenced by photoperiod is the formation of flowers, fruits and seeds. Flowering in plants is influenced by three factors: photoperiod, phytochrome and the biological rhythms of plants. Knowledge of plant responses to photoperiod can be used (1) selection of the plant before it is introduced into a region need to be tailored to the requirements photoperiod area, (2) artificial irradiation is widely used in horticultural plants to control flowering season and to increase the yield of plants in greenhouses, and (3) artificial light can allow cross it flowerence different plants that season when the natural conditions

Abstract

The quality of palm oil is determined by the quality of land and seeds from the seedling. The Selection of seedling media is an important factor to support the development of the seedlings until the seedlings can be planted into the field. The study aims to determine the effect of several types of seedling media and nitrogen fertilization on the growth of palm oil seedlings. The study was conducted at field experiment of Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University with height of 523 m above sea level, for 4 months. The research used Randomized Block Design with three replication (RAK) of factorial with factor 1: seedling medium (M) consisted of: M1 = soil:sand (1:1), M2 = soil:manure (1:1) and M3 = soil:sand: manure (1:1:1). Factor 2 was the nitrogen fertilizer dosage comprising 4 levels of the nitrogen fertilizer: 0 g (U0), 5 g (U1), 10 g (U2) and 15 g (U3), so there were 12 combinations of each treatment was repeated 3 times. Observations were made at high parameters of seed, seed stem diameter, leaf number, leaf area, and total dry weight of seed. The results obtained that the using of media types interact with nitrogen fertilization in supporting the growth of seedlings (stem diameter). The best oil palm seed obtained in the medium of sand: soil:manure (M3) with 15 g of urea fertilizer per seed was able to produce the largest stem diameter (0.37 cm) up to age 2 months. Separately, 15 g urea nitrogen fertilization produces the best seeds (number of leaf, leaf large, and top dry weight), while the best seedling media was the mixed media of soil:sand:manure
