In this paper, a three-phase multilevel cascaded H-bridge inverter is developed for injecting renewable power energy into the grid through a filter. The main contribution of this work is to reduce the total harmonic distortion (THD) by using a passive filter and to enhance the output voltages by adopting a multicarrier pulse width modulation (MCPWM). The simulation results affirm a good performance of the proposed multicarrier PWM control using a three-phase five-level inverter. The proposed inverter is tested as well as the THD and the spectral analysis of the output voltage are calculated using Simulink/Matlab software.

The photovoltaic systems are often employed into micro-grids; Micro-grids are small power grids designed to provide a reliable and better power supply to a small number of consumers using renewable energy sources. This paper deals with DC micro-grids and present a new system of monitoring and sharing electricity between homes equipped with photovoltaic panels (PV) in the goal to reduce the electrical energy waste. The system is based on dynamic sharing of photovoltaic blocks through homes in stand-alone areas, using an arduino board for controlling the switching matrix. The LABVIEW program is used to further process and display collected data from the system in the PC screen. A small-scale prototype has been developed in a laboratory to proof the concept. This prototype demonstrates the feasibility and functionality of the system.

To improve the performance of permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives powered by the voltage inverter with PWM control, a sensorless control scheme based on a Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) based in with fuzzy supervisor structure. The major drawbacks of the conventional MRAS, namely chattering phenomena, high-order harmonics andexternal noise, are discussed. These drawbacks affect the estimated speed accuracy of the MRAS and reduce the control reliability of the system. To eliminate these drawbacks, an FLC is designed and integrated into the MRAS to adjust the observer gain to reduce the chattering in closed loop speed and closed loop current/torque. Comparative simulations using the proposed Fuzzy-MRAS and the conventional MRAS are performed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed FLC structure. Performance simulations of the overall proposed Fuzzy-MRAS based sensorless control scheme are performed to verify the robustness and control reliability of the system. The results show that the proposed Fuzzy MRAS has satisfactory performances with reduction of total harmonic distortion generated in the phase currents.

This paper is an attempt to develop an Induction Motor Drive System with Multilevel Inverter topology for reduced torque ripple application. A Nine level-cascaded multilevel inverter is developed for the induction motor drive with SVPWM control powered by boost converter fed using solar PV supply. The SVPWM control based implementation of vector control using a multilevel inverter topology needs a multilevel SVPWM control technique, which is implemented in this paper. The Solar power supplied is applied with the MPPT technique and the supplied DC power is fed to the three phase cascaded 9 level multilevel inverter. The vector control of induction motor is carried out using the SVPWM technique on the multilevel topology. The torque ripple reduction in the output is observed and compared with the vector control of induction motor. Matlab based implementation is carried out and the results are tabulated and inferred.

Electric power systems required efficient processors and intelligent methods for sustainability therefore, in this paper used Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) device specifically Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) because of its useful properties on series and shunt devices and used Genetic Algorithm (GA) to determine the optimal location and values of UPFC to achieve the following objectives: improve voltages profile, reduce power losses, treatment of power flow in overloaded transmission lines and reduce power generation. Consequently, all of these goals led to a reduction in the total cost of the power system. GA was applied to an Iraqi local power grid system (Diyala 132 kV) to find the optimal values and locations of UPFC for the purpose of achieving the objectives mentioned above using the MATLAB program. The simulation results showed the effectiveness of GA to calculate the optimum values and locations of UPFC and promising results were obtained for the Diyala power network (132 kV) with regard to the desired objectives.

In this paper, we have investigated the Half-Duplex (HD) Energy Harvesting (EH) Cooperative Relaying Networks with one source node, one destination node, one intermediate relay and in the presence of the Jammer Against Eavesdropper. We have analyzed the system performance in terms of the integral form expression of secrecy outage probability. In addition, we have investigated the effect of source rate, time switching factor, energy coefficient, and the ratio Ps/N0 on the system performance. Finally, all the mathematical, analytical expressions are verified by Monte Carlo simulation, and the analytical results match well with the simulation ones to convince the correctness of the analytical expression.

The pulse generator which has been implemented in the pulse electric field (PEF) treatment system for food processing is worth to be highlighted and improved. It is parallel with the advancement in semiconductor technology, which offers robust and accurate devices. This research is an effort to produce a low cost, compact and reliable pulse generator as well as equipped with a pulse width modulation (PWM) method for wide selection of frequency and duty cycle. The result shows that the simulation process has proven the theoretical concept to be right and yields the desired outcome based on the designed values. Then, the actual printed circuit board (PCB) has been fabricated to obtain practical results which intended to be compared with the simulation outcomes. Concerning the frequency and its duty cycle, both parameters can be altered without affecting each other. It means by changing the frequency, duty cycle remains the same and vice versa. Thus, this proposed pulse generator achieves its objective and fits to be implemented in PEF treatment technology. It also can replace the conventional pulse forming network (PFN) which is bulky and costly.

This paper presents a hybrid pulse width modulation (HPWM) strategy based on different switching patterns of selective harmonic elimination pulse width modulation (SHEPWM) for the three-level neutral point clamped (3L-NPC) converter. Specific low-order harmonics can be eliminated by SHEPWM at low switching frequency, while the remaining high-order harmonics can be selected to be simply filtered by additional hardware. Large oscillation waveform usually occurs in the transition instant between two diverse modulation situations, therefore switching between distinct switching patterns can be problematic if no effective means is taken, especially when the effect of smooth and fast transition at any time is considerable. A universal and valid control strategy, which maintains the high-quality output voltage and current, is proposed and implemented in this paper to address this issue. Simulation results obtained from MATLAB/SIMULINK are presented to analyze the performance and validate the feasibility and effectiveness of this control scheme.

This paper presents the combination of two different methods to perform the waveform analysis for PWM-operated inverter. The two techniques are Newton-Raphson method and Curve-Fitting as a PWM concept to operate PWM-based inverter, the proper solutions of switching angles can valuate the initial values by using the Newton-Raphson method with the wide-step calculation of modulation indices. The solutions are then compared using a curve in order to study the behavior. Then, the Curve-Fitting method is used to estimate the missing solutions between any points of wide-step calculation. This combination method can estimate the probable solutions that cannot be solved by Newton-Raphson method in a wide-ranging of the modulation index and reduce the calculation time. PWM-based inverter, which is obtained the switching angles by Newton-Raphson method and the combination of two different methods, is verified by the simulation results showing faster performance with improved Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) than both methods alone when compared the same values of switching angles.

A tale technique for a 3-stage nine-level voltage source inverter utilizing sixteen switches is presented. The given system utilizes ordinary 3-stage scaffolds of two-level as a diode braced model. A DC interface voltage is provided so that the fell H-connect produces the nine voltage levels. The exchanging designs are expressed as the levels expand then the example is hard to create three-stage yields with key balance procedures. Here an answer for an a-level inverter to create required voltage-level with less power electronic parts by setting up in the look-into tables. This investigation diagrams the correlations between nine-level voltage source inverters in various arrangements and proposed novel, sixteen switch three-stage inverter structured with a smaller number of intensity electronic parts and reenacted in MATLAB/Simulink.
