Abstract

General stance of the Human Rights discourse is that minorities are subjected to discriminations, they are treated as second class citizens by the majority, and, hence, their rights are specially to be protected. Religious minorities encounter typical problems in practicing and observing their religions and cultures. Religious minorities in European countries in which secular and liberal democratic form of governments are in place enjoy their rights comparatively better is a fact not much contested. However, the burqa ban in France in 2010 followed by Belgium and many other European countries provides a testing field of religious minority rights and religious freedom under secular and liberal democratic states. This essay tries to explore how two of the founding stones of Human Rights discourse namely equality and non-discrimination are protected or breached with the ban of burqa. Views pro and against are evaluated on the basis of various theories and concepts. UN declarations and conventions as well as European conventions were readily consulted for authorization, verification and validation of facts. ECtHR’s remarks on the validity of the ban are tested against human rights discourse, equality and non-discrimination in particular. The essay opens an avenue for discussion of different views about the ban from different perspectives. Key Words: Religious minority, substantive equality, non-discrimination, public good & safety, tolerance, reciprocity, pluralism.

Abstract

It has been well understood that writing the “result and discussion” part of a Thesis is a challenging task. The task had been found to be highly challenging by the students of Applied Master Program. The current study employed genre theory to investigate the writing model prototype in use for the “results and discussions” parts of Applied Master Thesis. Genre theory was developed by Swales (1990), Martin & Rose (2007), and Wiratno & Santosa (2011). The research paradigm employed for the current study is the developmental research paradigm. The current study is motivated by the limited number of studies on issues regarding the writing of the “results and discussions” part of a Thesis. The current study found (1) the main requirement that needs to be written in “results and discussions” parts is describing the results and discussing the results, based on the theory in use. The “results and discussions” parts need to be written by using descriptive text, report text, and discussion text basis, (2) descriptive text is a kind of text that explains something as it is. The structure of the descriptive text is (a) thing described generally, and (b) parts of things described. (3) Report text is a text that used to classify data. The structure of report text is (a) something reported and (b) class or subclass from something. (iv) Discussion text is a text that explains the phenomenon from two sides: pro and contra. The structure of discussion is (a) issue statement, (b) pro argumentation, (c) contra argumentation, (d) conclusion/recommendation. (4) Descriptive text, report text, and discussion text have linguistic characteristics, such as the verb, adjective, and conjunction that commonly can be used in order writers can make the research results and discussion part correctly and quickly.

Abstract

Domestic violence is a global issue of violation of human rights, reaching across national boundaries as well as socio-economic, cultural, racial and class distributions. It is a widespread, deeply ingrained evil, which has serious impact on woman’s health and well-being. Domestic violence, especially in the Indian context, has by and large been a gender –specific crime inflicted by men on women. Gender can be perceived as a system of a social classification that regulates access to power and resources. The unequal gender relation in the family, which is a sad reality in India even today, needs to be acknowledged while approaching the issue of domestic violence. The Protection of Women (and children) against Domestic Violence Act, 2005 which India passed in October 2006 is one ‘Special Law’ which primarily aims at providing protection to the wife or female live in partner, from domestic violence at the hands of the husband or male live –in –partner and / or his relatives. Growing incidence of domestic violence, despite legal measures has been a matter of concern for the social work profession since long. The department of Nagpur City Police, Maharashtra state initiated Bharosa Cell, a model from Hydrabad. Bharosa cell is a special model of intervention to address several issues of violence against women grown in reporting to the police recently. Since the inception total number of cases registered and addressed from January 2017 – December 2018 were 4360. This paper is fully focused on Bharosa Cell model of intervention which aimed at mitigating the problems of the victims of domestic violence with the assistance of the police system which offers case work service and Couselling service through social work intervention; legal guidance and emotional support to the victims as well as to the perpetrators of domestic violence with a view to empower the victims and mitigate the issues of domestic violence in order to achieve gender justice.

Abstract

The Cold War that occurred between 1945 and 1991 was both an international political and historical event. As a political event, the Cold War laid bare the fissures, animosities, mistrusts, misconceptions and the high-stake brinksmanship that has been part of the international political system since the birth of the modern nation-state in 1648. As a historical event, the Cold War and its end marked an important epoch in human social, economic and political development. The beginning of the Cold War marked the introduction of a new form of social and political experiment in human relations with the international arena as its laboratory. Its end signaled the end of a potent social and political force that is still shaping the course of political relationship among states in the 21st century. The historiography of the Cold War has been shrouded in controversy. Different factors has been advanced as being responsible for the origins of the conflict. This work is a historical and structural analysis of the historiography of the Cold War. The work attempts to synthesize the competing views of the origins of the Cold War and create an all-encompassing and holistic historiography for its origins.

The management model applied is still very partial that has not involved all the existing stakeholders, especially the management of communal tourism products. Regarding the development of tourism villages, tourism village management is closely related to the products produced or offered, and depends on the number of functions in the organization concerned. Abstract

It is a well established fact that India has been the center of famous thinkers and philosophers right from the ancient time as a result of its various philosophical traditions. These branches of thought are deeply embedded in the Indian culture and are commonly categorized as the six orthodox and the three heterodox systems of Indian philosophy. The concept of epistemology has been the topic of heavy discussion as scholars in the past have agreed or strongly disagreed on their formulations of the different schemes of metaphysics. For Indian philosophers knowledge is a means to reach at ultimate truth through speculation and experience. In this paper I am going to present the Jayanta’s refuration to Buddhist concept of pramāṇa.
