Abstract

Absorption of active ingredients of topical preparations occur when the active substance is released from the carrier, then penetrate into deeper skin layers,into the capillaries and finally enter the bloodstream. This took place in passive diffusion. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of cream base type toward the penetration of chloramfenikol as the active ingredient. The examination done by using Franz diffusion cells vertical with miceskin as a membrane penetration.The resultsshowed that the 2ndformula  was better than the 1st and 3rd formula in organoleptic, homogeneity, pH value, washed ability, and the spread of particle size.There are none of the formula caused iritation. The chloramfenikol quantitation measurement which done by using UV spectrophotometer, gave result 101.8 %, 99.8 %, 98.4 % for formula 1, 2, and 3. From thepenetration test showedthe 2nd formula has the best penetration which is  26.07 %.

Abstract

It has been done research about effect of Elephantopus scaber L. leaves’s aethanolic extract on the levels of blood LDL in white male mice. The extract was given orally at the dose of 100, 300 and 900 mg/kg BB once a day for 7, 14 and 21 days. The animals were divided into 5 groups, group I  as negative control which was given only the standar food, group II as positive control wich was induced by high fat diet, as for the group III, IV, and V has been given the standar food with fat diet  and the Elephantopus scaber L. leaves’s aethanolic extract in the dose varied as mentioned before. In the day of 7th, 14th and 21st, the level of blood LDL was examined for all of the group. The result shows that Elephantopus scaber L. leaves’s aethanolic extract reduce the LDL blood level significantly compare to the positive control (p<0,05) for 14 and 21 days of administration.

Abstract

Study about comparative influence of ethanol – water as solvent extraction of phenolic compounds from Dewa leaves (Gynura pseudochina (L) DC ) and it’s antioxidant activity has been done. The solvent ratios tested were 100:0; 80:20; 70:30; 60:40; 50:50. The result showed that the ratio of ethanol – water used as solvent has a significant correlation to an extractable material, phenolic compound and it’s antoxidant activity (P <0.05 ). The best solvent obtained by ethanol – water of 60 : 40, which gave the highest phenolic compound and antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Influence of type of extracting solvent on determination of phenolic compound level and antioxidant activities of Guava Leaf (Psidium Guajava, L.) have been done. The determination of phenolic compound by using Folin-Ciocalteau method and Antioxidant activities by using DPPH method that Gallic Acid was used as reference and determination of phenolic compound and antioxidant activities by using UV-Visible spectrophotometry. The content of phenolic compound from methanol:water extract; ethanol:water extract; aceton:water extract are 82.2699; 81.4762 and 80.9206 mg/g respectively. The finding showed that methanol: water solvent is the best solvent for Phenolat extract compare with ethanol:water and aceton:water. Antioxidant activities from methanol:water extract: ethanol:water ; aceton:water are IC50 3.694; 8.249 and 4.968 mg/mL respectively. From the data can get conclusion that methanol:water is the best solvent for extracting Guava Leaf (Psidium Guajava, L.).

Abstract

Griseofulvin cream formulation and it’s penetration test using Franzs difusion cell has been done. This cream formulation was using two different types of base cream, such as water/oil (w/o) and  oil/water (o/w) base cream type. The vertical type cells of Franz difusion cells, was used for the penetration test and it’s quantity determination was done by using spectrophotometry methods. The result  showed,  that griseofulvin cream with water/oil (w/o) base has the highest of the griseofulvin penetration quantity. The griseofulvin penetration quantity and it’s capacity of penetrating toward water/oil (w/o) and  oil/water (o/w) base are 7,447  µg/mL and 18,54%, then  5,724 µg/mL and 14,39% respectively for 90 minutes periods time. It showed that the cream type can influence the griseofulvin penetration from it’s base. From both cream types, water/oil (w/o) type gives better penetration than oil/water (o/w) cream.

Abstract

Isolation of major compound (CH-05-SP) from cytotoxic fraction of marine sponge Petrosia sp (MN 05) using maceration, fractionation, column chromatography and recrystallization methods has been conducted. The result of physical and chemical analysis showed that the isolated compound was white crystal, melted at 180º-183ºC and including as terpenoid.

Abstract

Has done research on the effect of skin extract of eggplant (Solanum melongena L) on the formation of atherosclerosis in male quail (coturnix coturnix japonica). Induction of atherosclerosis in high-fat feeding (MLT) and prophylthiourasil. eggplant skin extract dose used was 25 mg/kg BB, 50 mg/kg BB, and 100 mg/kg BB. treatment of the animals for 60 days. results showed that administration of the eggplant skin extract effect was 50 mg/kg BB and a dose of 100 mg/kg BB . use within a period of time does not affect the ratio of organ weight of quail.

Abstract

Isolation of crude bromelain from pineapple stem has been done using phosphate buffer pH 7.0 as solvent,nthen it was centrifuged at 3,500 rpm for 15 minutes. It’s physicochemical properties then evaluated by it’s organoleptic, solubility, lost of drying, ash content, pH value, microscopic photo, particle size distribution, water absorbtion, protein qualitative and quantitative test. It’s total protein analysis done by using Mikro Kjeldahl method than gave result 8.0384% proteins.
