Abstract

The stimulant activity of central nerve systems of areca seed (Areca cathecu, L.), at white mouse ( Mus musculus, L ) had been done by using method hanging test, evasi test, swim test and discrimination maze. Drug dose given is 0.5 mg/20 gram BW white mouse, 1 mg/20 gram BW white mouse, 2 mg/ 20 gram BW white mouse in oral mechanism. As negative control is applied by Tween 80 2% and condensation of comparator is applied by Caffeine.Activity test result from seed extract Pinang ( Areca cathecu, L. ) to white mouse ( Mus musculus, L. ) the obtained result signifikan ( P < 0.01 ) as stimulant central nerve systems.

Abstract

Wound healing is a normal process as responds by the skin tissue injury. This research is purposed to see the effects of ethanol extract in binahong leaf to  healing the wound of male white rats. There are rats which are divided into five treatment groups, group I (negative control), group II is given providone iodine 10% (positive control), group III, IV and V are given the extract of binahong leaf ointment consist of 5%, 10%, 15% for each. By making a wound on the back of the rats about 20 mm long and 2 mm deep. The ointment is applied based on the treatment for each group twice a day during ten days, the lenght count every day by using caliper. The data is analyzed by using two ways ANOVA and continued by Duncan Test. The result showed that ethanol extract in binahong leaf can heal the wound in scale concentration about 10%-15%, length of wound was decrease on seventh day. The more extract concentration given, the more effect in wound healing

Abstract

The effect of binahong (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Stennisleaves extract ethanol on pH and gastric ulcers in female rats were induced by 1 ml/200 gram body weight by oral admistration. The parameter taken to asses antiulcer activity were change of gastric acid pH and ulcer index to normal condition. The result indicated that the binahong leaves extract at doses of 30 mg, 100 mg and 300 mg/Kg BB body weight significantly decreased the ulcer index with curative ratio were 38.62 %, 52.41 % and 57.01 % (for one daily of extracts for two days), 60.84 %, 78.74 % and 82.32 % (for one daily of extracts for four days) and 79.91 %, 93.86 % and 95.98 % (for one daily of extracts for two days) with respect to control group. The extracts at 30 mg, 10 mg and 300 mg/Kg BB body weigth also significanthy decreased the gastric acid pH to its normal value (P<0.05).

Abstract

The research of acute toxicity of the etanolic extract of  the leave of  Jambu Bol (Eugenia malaccencis L.) has been done. Parameter measure were LD50 and the delay toxic effect during 14 day observation covering body weight, water intake, urine output, and relative weight of the liver, heart, and kidney. The toxicity by oral administration of the leave of Jambu Bol (Eugenia malaccencis L.) with dose 16 g/kg BB. that showed the etanolic extract of leave Jambu Bol (Eugenia malaccencis L.) is practical not toxic category (LD50 > 15 g/kg BB). The delay toxic effect was seen by significant changes in body weight and water intake, and was not see significant changes in urine output and the relative weight.

Abstract

Has been research about influence of ethanol extract of leaves of soursop (Annona muricata L.) on the formation of coronary artery atherosclerosis of male quail induced  high fat feeding and propylthiourasil. Male quail were divided into five groups , each group getting treatment. Negative controls given standard diet, a positive control was given high fat feeding and propylthiouracil, doses of 50, 100, 200 mg / kg BW ethanol extract administered orally soursop leaves. The treatment is done for 60 day, then take heart, be making preparations histopathology and staining haematoxyllin-eosin. The results showed that the ethanol extract of leaves of soursop dose  50 mg / kg BW selective in preventing atherosclerosis in male quail, when compared with the positive control ( P < 0.05 ). While the administration at a dose of 100 and 200 mg / kg showed no selective in preventing atherosclerosis in male quail, when compared with the positive control .

Abstract

The research about the effect of microwave drying methods on content of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity of Gynura pseudochina,(Lour.) Merr. have been done. The determination of phenolic compounds was carried out according to Folin-Ciocalteu method and antioxidant activity was evaluated by DPPH method, calculated as gallic acid equivalent (GAE). The research showed that the highest phenolic compounds and the strongest antioxidant activity obtained by microwave drying method compared by air drying method. The phenolic compounds each gram sample by using microwave drying is 1.673 mg phenolic compounds and antioxidant activities were calculated as the IC50 at concentration 2.876 mg/mL.

Abstract

Research on the effect of roselle calyx ethanol extract (Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn) on  the levels of LDL female white mice have been done. The extract was administered orally with a variety doses 500, 700 and 1000 mg /kg bw once daily for 7, 14 and 21 days.  as a negative control group using white female mice were given standard diet, while the positive control were given  atherogenic cocktail as induction . The results showed that the ethanol extract of roselle calyx apparently have a significant effect on levels of LDL blood cholesterol of female white mice. dose of 28 mg/20 g bw showed reduced blood levels of LDL cholesterol better than a dose of 14 mg/20g bw  and 19.6/20g bw. Based on further test duncan, reduced levels of LDL cholesterol on day 21 showed excellent results compared to most day 7th and 14th.

Abstract

Research on the effect of giving the fraction of ethanolic extracts of roselle calyx  (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) to male white rats urine volume has been done, the  fraction was given orally at a dose of n-hexane fraction of 95 mg/g BW, the fraction of ethyl acetate 145 mg/g BW and the fraction of the remaining 350 mg/g BW once a days for 7, 14 and 21. Result shows that the fraction of n-hexane giving 95 mg/g BW, fraction ethyl acetate of  145 mg/g BW, and the remaining fraction of 3450 mg/kg BW roselle calyx  (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) can effect urine volume increased male white rats. Duration of the three fractions on days 7, 14 and 21 show a not significant increase in urine volume (P<0.05).

Abstract

An assay of the active cutaneous anti anaphylactic of the ethanolic extract of the Cassia alata L. On male white mice has been studied. The assay  was done by giving three different doses (100,300, 900 mg per kg body weight ). Allergic reaction was induced by giving egg’s albumin as antigen. The anti anaphylactic effect was determined by measurement of the pro long of occurrence time, the dereased in diameter and the color intensity of the blue bump formed by using blue evan’s solution as indicator which was given intravenously. Result indicated the ethanolic extract of Cassia alata L. (100, 300, 900 mg per kg body weight ) had significant effect for each dose (p<0.05). The dose of 900 mg per kg body weight showed best effect.

Abstract

It has been done research about effect of Elephantopus scaber L. leaves’s aethanolic extract on the levels of blood LDL in white male mice. The extract was given orally at the dose of 100, 300 and 900 mg/kg BB once a day for 7, 14 and 21 days. The animals were divided into 5 groups, group I  as negative control which was given only the standar food, group II as positive control wich was induced by high fat diet, as for the group III, IV, and V has been given the standar food with fat diet  and the Elephantopus scaber L. leaves’s aethanolic extract in the dose varied as mentioned before. In the day of 7th, 14th and 21st, the level of blood LDL was examined for all of the group. The result shows that Elephantopus scaber L. leaves’s aethanolic extract reduce the LDL blood level significantly compare to the positive control (p<0,05) for 14 and 21 days of administration.
