Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of List-Group-Label (LGL) strategy in teaching vocabulary and how significant the effect of List-Group-Label (LGL) strategy was in teaching vocabulary to the second semester Students of Islamic Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of IAIN Pontianak  in the Academic Year of 2017/2018.The research design employs a pre-experimental research in form of one group Pretest- Posttest design and had no control group. The population of this research was all of the second semester Students of Islamic Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of IAIN Pontianak  in the Academic Year of 2017/2018 consisted of 317 students and the chosen sample was class B. The sample was taken by apllying Cluster random sampling technique. The research was conducted at IAIN Pontianak.The technique of data collection in this research was measurement. The data were collected with essay test. The pre-test and post-test were distributed in order to get the data from the students. The data were analyzed by using t test. The result revealed that List-Group-Label (LGL) strategy was effective on students’ vocabulary mastery because the mean score in pretest and posttest were different and the difference were considered significant. The effect size calculation revealed that List-Group-Label (LGL) strategy gave strong effect to the students’ vocabulary mastery. It could be inferred that List-Group-Label (LGL) strategy was significantly effective in teaching vocabulary to the second semester Students of Islamic Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of IAIN Pontianak  in the Academic Year of 2017/2018 and the treatments gave strong effect to the students in learning vocabulary. List-Group-Label (LGL) strategy can be implemented in teaching vocabulary in order to improve students’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Imperative politeness is one of the concerns in character education. This is becausepoliteness in speaking is part of pillars in character education. Based on the results of study,students from the Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty, Institute Agama Islam Neger(IAIN) Pontianak showed a tendency to be less polite in speaking, this is evident fromthe imperative speeches they convey in their interactions between them. Meanwhile, thespeech language they use represents their personality, and becomes problematic becausethey are studying at the Tarbiyah Faculty and Teacher Training of IAIN Pontianak adnthey are prepared to be prospective teachers. Methodologically, this research is classifedas qualitative research with a pragmatic approach. In research, the data collection methodused is the referring method and the profcient method. The objects of the study wasSambas Malay students who study at the Teacher Training Faculty, Institute Agama IslamNeger (IAIN) Pontianak .

Abstract

Cognitive linguistics views that the meaning of a word, especially in polysemi, doesnot just appear, but there is something that motivates and lies behind it. To describethe relationship between meanings in polysemy can be done through language style.Categorization and comparing activities can occur in the form of metaphorical, metonymy,and synchronic forms. The word 'flower' in Indonesian with ana hana ’in Japanese hasalmost the same meaning and function. This study aims to determine the meaning of theword flower and hana seen from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. This study usesa qualitative descriptive method by taking data from various sources. The results of thisstudy are 1) in general the meaning of the word "flower" is something beautiful, calmingthe heart, pleasing to the eye, pleasant to hear, fragrant smell; 2) in general the meaningof the word "hana" is a beautiful woman; Wreaths; flower picture card game; colorful,striking, brilliant, beautiful.Keywords: cognitive linguistics, polisemi, hana, bunga

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe the phonological process in the prefix /me-/ in Indonesian especially on the morphophonemic aspects. Morphonemic can be interpreted as a new word formation process. This process must be seen from the point of view of phonology and morphology. Phonological aspects play an important role in the morphophonic process where distinctive features are used to present the results. This paper used transformational generative phonological theory. The method used a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of the analysis show that the phonological process that occurs in morphophonemic prefixes / me- / in Indonesian is the addition of consonants and also assimilation of consonant-vowels Keywords: prefix /me-/, morphophonemic, distinctive features

Abstract

Code switching and code mixing is one phenomenon in social interaction. Thisphenomenon often arises in bilingual or people who speak more than two languages(multilingual). Japanese Literature Students of Universitas Ngudi Waluyo, 2017/2018 aspart of a multi-lingual society, also experienced events called code switching and codemixing. Mastery of Japanese is certainly influential on student interaction outside theclassroom. This research needs to be done to fnd out the events of code switchingand code mixing that occur. This research is based on the idea that the language usedby Japanese Literature students at Universitas Ngudi Waluyo in class of 2017/2018 ininteracting with each other outside the classroom also includes the Japanese languageas a second language, even the third language that students master. Besides that, it alsolooks at how the 2017/2018 Japanese literature students enter Japanese in interacting, asa choice of language that they think is appropriate.Keywords: code, code switching, code mixing
