Abstract

This research reviews the polemic of Muslims in Makassar regarding Christmas and New Year greetings. Furthermore, some proposed various alternative solutions. This research studies the living Quran, namely, how Islamic leaders understand the verses related to the theme. Data collection methods are documentation, focus group discussions, interviews, and observations. Data were analyzed with a qualitative approach. The analysis shows three main points. First, Muslim leaders in Makassar are categorized as having pros and cons in their views on Christmas and New Year greetings. Second, there is the thought of utilizing historical treasures called taqiyya as an alternative to multiculturalism. Shiites and Sunnis agree that there is taqiyya, but they differ in its application. It is at this level that sustainable and ethical dialogue is needed. Third, being united in terms of what is agreed upon and tolerant of differences are the rules for assembling unity and harmony in diversity. Therefore, continuous dialogue must be carried out with the obligation to uphold shared ethics.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the concept of empowering converts through zakat philanthropy funds carried out by amil zakat institutions in improving the welfare of converts, and to analyze the impact of empowering zakat on converts in Indonesia. In general, this research can provide benefits to the community regarding the management and empowerment of zakat for converts, and become material for information and consideration, both conceptually, theoretically and programs for managing zakat funds at amil zakat institutions. The methodology used in this research is through a qualitative descriptive analysis with a comparative approach, while the object of this research is the National Amil Zakat Agency and the Arimatea Amil Zakat Institute related to the management of zakat and the empowerment of converts in Indonesia. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out by interviewing informants, direct observation and documentation. The data obtained in this study were processed qualitatively and analyzed systematically in relation to the observation of written data. The results of this study indicate that there is a collaboration in empowering zakat for converts carried out by the two amil zakat institutions, where both have various strategies in their management, such as exchanging data on converts in Indonesia, collaboration related to converts' economic activities in the form of direct assistance or development of household economics, and provision of capital to small businesses. The impact of implementing zakat for converts is to gain specific and sustainable reinforcement in the fields of religion, education, and economic improvement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of the implementation and regulations regarding mandatory wills in Indonesia and Malaysia and relate it to maslahah according to Izzudin bin Abdissalam. This research uses a qualitative approach. The data collection technique used in this research is a literature study through documentation. The object of this research is the rules and implementation of mandatory wills in Indonesia and Malaysia when connected with the maslahah of Izzudin bin Abdissalam. The results of this study indicate that first, Indonesia provides mandatory wills to adopted children or adoptive parents with a share of 1/3, by referring to Hazairin. The rule is listed in KHI article 209 because it is not binding. The designation has been expanded. At the same time, Malaysia gives to the grandchildren. The rule is listed in the Enakmen, which has a binding legal nature; however, not all states in Malaysia regulate mandatory wills, and not all mandatory will rules are the same. Secondly, if the issue of compulsory legacy is related to the maslahah of Izzudin bin Abdissalam, then it is included in the haqiqi maslahah because it provides happiness (farh) for the recipient of the compulsory bequest, and the maslahah can be known directly by the intellect and is classified as a worldly maslahah.

Abstract

This study explores how murabaha financing is applied in Islamic financial institutions after the release of DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 153/2022 and the 2023 OJK Murabaha Financing Guidelines. These new rules aim to ensure stronger Sharia compliance by providing clear procedures for early debt settlement, margin discounts, and repayment arrangements. With a more transparent and standardized framework, the regulations are expected to reduce disputes, improve efficiency, and bring greater consistency across institutions. Using a qualitative approach, this research reviews regulatory documents, institutional Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and actual practices in selected Islamic banks and financing companies. The findings show that the updated guidelines encourage institutions to adjust their SOPs to align with both Sharia principles and operational best practices. Standardizing settlement and discount methods improves transparency, removes uncertainties, and builds customer trust. The results also highlight how clear regulations can support financial stability in the Islamic banking sector by ensuring murabaha transactions are fair, predictable, and fully compliant with Sharia. Overall, this study offers practical insights for policymakers, Sharia boards, and practitioners on how regulatory clarity can strengthen both operational performance and religious adherence in Islamic finance.

Abstract

The increasing demand for housing financing based on Islamic principles has positioned Islamic Home Financing (IHF) as one of the fastest-growing products within the Islamic banking industry. This phenomenon has triggered a range of academic studies exploring aspects such as financing contracts, consumer behaviour, affordability, and regulatory frameworks. However, these studies remain fragmented, lacking a comprehensive overview of the knowledge structure and research trajectory within the field. This study aims to map the scholarly landscape of IHF through a bibliometric analysis focusing on three main dimensions: co-authorship, co-occurrence, and co-citation. Based on 54 Scopus-indexed documents published between 2000 and 2025, the data were analyzed using VOSviewer. The findings indicate that collaboration networks are dominated by Hanudin Amin from Malaysian institutions, with emerging cross-country and cross-disciplinary partnerships that include sustainability issues. Keyword analysis highlights "Islamic home financing" as a central term, closely associated with the integration of social and commercial finance, consumer behaviour theory (TPB), and environmental concerns. Co-citation analysis reveals a heavy reliance on conventional literature, with classical theories such as TRA and TPB serving as foundational references. The limited research on risk-related issues suggests a significant research gap. This study contributes to the development of a more integrative theoretical foundation for academics and provides practical insights for Islamic banks in designing competitive, sustainable, and globally responsive IHF products.
