Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact shows the mathematicalcommunication ability of the students not yet in accordance with theexpected. One such problem is learning that does not provide flexibility tostudents to exploit the potential of the brain optimally, where in general isgenerally more emphasis on the left brain function. Mathematicalcommunication skills need to be supported by right brain function.Characteristics of learning that offers learning concepts that align the waythe brain works naturally designed is by learning Brain-Based Learning(BBL). The research method used is quasi experiment. Quantitative data isobtained from pretest and posttes data. Research found that There areachievements and improvements in students' mathematical communicationskills whose learning uses the Brain-Based Learning approach comparedwith students who received conventional learning in terms of students' earlymath skills, and self-confidence and there is an association between theability of mathematical communication and self-confidence.

Abstract

This study is a quasi experiment, which aims to examine the achievementand improvement of mathematical connection ability and Adversity Quotientof Mts students through SQ4R learning as a whole and based on KAM andassociation among variables. The population in this research is all students ofclass VIII MTsN 1 Subang. Samples were taken by random class, which arefrom eight grade obtained two classes, namely VIII D as the experimentalclass and class VIII A as the control class. Instruments in this study wereeach set of tests for mathematical connections, and a set of student’sadversity quotient scales and a set of student’s scale of views on SQ4Rlearning. The study found that the achievement and improvement ofmathematical connection ability of students whose learning using SQ4Rlearning is better than that of learning using ordinary learning as a whole orreviewed from KAM. And also adversity quotient of students who studyusing SQ4R is better than the learning using ordinary learning. it was alsofound an association between the ability of connections and adversityquotient of students in the classroom using SQ4R learning. The student’sperformance illustration during the SQ4R study shows the student’s activityboth individually or in cooperate in their group to build new knowledge thatmust be owned by students, so that improving the ability of mathematicalconnections as well as the adversity quotient of the student.

Abstract

This study is a quasi experiment that aims to determine whether theachievement and improvement of students' mathematical communicationskills and confidence of students who get the Learning TransactionalReading Strategy is better than the ordinary study reviewed overall andKAM categories. Alternative approach applied is Learning TransactionalReading Strategy. The research method used is quasi experimental methodwith the population of junior high school students in Bandung. While thesample is taken from class VII as much as two classes are randomlyselected from 9 classes. Before doing the research the first test ofprerequisite or Early Mathematical Ability (KAM) is done. At thebeginning and end of the learning the two experimental and control classeswere given a test and attitude questionnaire. The data collection in thisresearch is in the form of test which contains 6 description questions formathematical communication ability and 30 attitude questionnaires ofstudent's self confidence .The score data of each capability was analyzed by descriptive andinferential statistic using the difference test of two averages. Based on theresults of the study, both the results of data analysis and hypothesis testing, the author concludes that the improvement of mathematical communicationskills of students who get the learning transactional reading strategy isbetter than the improvement of students' communication skills learningusing ordinary learning reviewed overall and KAM category is medium. While the self-confidence of students who get the learning transactionalreading strategy is better than the students' self-confidence who getordinary learning reviewed overall and categories of high, medium and lowKAM.

Abstract

This research is a quasi experimental research, which aims to examine theachievement and improvement of problem solving skills and mathematicaldisposition of MA students by using Problem Posing approach. The populationin this study is the students of class XI in one MA in Tasikmalaya City. Withthe sample subject is class XI IIS 1 as the control class and XI IIS 3 as theexperimental class which totals the total of 62 students. Data obtained fromresearch instruments in the form of tests (pretest and postes problem solvingability) and nontes (scale of mathematical disposition). After the observation, the data is reviewed and analyzed. Based on the results of research and dataprocessing, obtained: (a) Improvement and achievement of mathematicalproblem solving ability of MA students whose learning using Problem Posingapproach is better than the learning using ordinary learning, and (b)Mathematical disposition of MA students whose learning using ProblemPosing approach better than learning using ordinary learning.

Abstract

Learning technique at school should concentrate on developing studentscreativity. Creative thinking ability will be the determinant of individualsuccess. But in fact, students are familiar with routine and simple learning. The SAVI approach is an approach that combines physical movement withintellectual activity. Learning style is the capital of a student to absorbinformation. The method used in this research is quantitative method, whichis the purpose is to know the influence of SAVI approach and learning styleto students' creative thinking ability in mathematics when compared withdirect learning. The instruments used are tests of creative thinking abilitiesand learning styles of students. The result of data analysis using statistical testthat is (1) there is influence of SAVI approach and learning style to studentcreative thinking ability. (2) there is influence of SAVI approach to SAVIcreative thinking ability. (3) there is influence of student learning style tostudent creative thinking ability. (4) there is an interaction between SAVIapproach and learning style to students' creative thinking ability.

Abstract

The problems often faced by students in the learning process are theability to solve mathematical problems. The process of solvingmathematical problems requires thinking skills. Thinking skills needed toprovide creative ideas in solving mathematical problems include criticalthinking skills. The understanding of students in providing creative ideas isstill low and the ability of students to identify a mathematical problem isstill low. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of learningintensity on the ability to think critically mathematically, to determine theeffect of learning habits on mathematical critical thinking skills, todetermine the effect of learning intensity and learning habits onmathematical critical thinking skills. This type of research is explanatoryresearch. The results of this study, namely there is a positive influence onlearning intensity on mathematical critical thinking skills, there is a positiveinfluence on learning habits on mathematical critical thinking skills, there isa positive influence on intensity and learning habits on mathematical criticalthinking skills.

Abstract

This research was aims to develop video instructional media of cube andcuboid for deaf students. The background of doing this research instructionalmedia is not only required by means of the normal students, but it is neededby the students who have special needs like deaf students also. Observationresult addresses that the deaf students are inclined to be slow in catching thematerials are given due to the lack of media, difficulty in imagining cube andcuboid, and forget the materials are given. In accordance with the students'characteristics and needs, it requires the visual-based media. This researchtypically employed research and development method. The result ofvalidation based on the assessment of media practitioner with the scalestarting from 0 to 5 was 4.42, and material practitioner from 0 to 5 was 4. Theresult of validator's assessment demonstrated that this instructional media canbe available to use. The result of students' response in using this instructionalmedia was 74.5 %. It revealed that students' response to this instructionalmedia was good. This research has added the Sistem Isyarat BahasaIndonesia (SIBI), and accordance with the characteristics of deaf students andalso has added animations from the Cabri3D software to help studentsobserve the shape and characteristics of the building blocks and cubes

Abstract

This study aimed to describe learning plan on Opportunity material usingTeams Games Tournaments (TGT) with a scientific approach, and to knowstudent learning activities on learning materials opportunities using TeamsGames Tournaments (TGT) with scientific approach, as well as to know theresults of student learning on learning materials Opportunities using TeamsGames Tournaments (TGT) with scientific approach. Type of this research isdescriptive and the approach used is qualitative and quantitative. Techniqueof collecting data were observation, test, and documentation. The resultsshowed that the planning of TGT learning was only based on 4 components:(1) class presentations, (2) teams, (3) games, and (4) tournaments as well asthe non-implementation of group awards and components combined withscientific approaches, while student learning activities are in type of “good”category since the test results showed that 28 students were complete and 6students were unfinished. In classical, students' completeness reached 82.3%and was said to be complete. These results indicated that learning activitieswith TGT model with scientific approach is good to be applied.
