Jurnal Pembelajaran Sains (Print ISSN: 2355-7044; Online ISSN: 2527-9157) provides a place for teachers, academics, lecturers, and students to share and discuss the results of their research in the field of science education. JPS publishes academic articles that focus on teaching and learning science from a range of basic education to higher education. This journal serves as a bridge between researchers and practitioners (teachers at every level of education) in sharing and providing information, ideas and opinions about the reality of education experienced by each. Science education which is included in the focus of JPS is not only limited to science education at the junior high school level. JPS also publishes academic articles related to the results of research in the fields of chemical education, physical education, and biological education for the level of basic education to higher education. JPS also does not close itself to publish academic articles related to the integration of science education with other disciplines, such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), geography, social education, and art. However, academic articles relating to research in the field of pure science and education in general (not related to science / Science education) will not be considered for publication by JPS. Academic articles in the field of science education published by JPS can be in the form of empirical research, such as the development / application of learning models and strategies, the development and innovation of teaching materials and learning media, and the development of learning evaluation instruments. Both the academic articles of experimental research and the results of classroom action research (CAR) are highly accepted for publication in JPS. All academic articles published by JPS must follow the applicable research rules and any data / research results can be justified by the author.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the training and participants' responses to the training. The research was a quasi-experiment with one-group pretest postest design. The sample was chosen using purposive sampling method. The number of samples was 38 elementary school teachers. The research instrument was a test question instrument to determine the effectiveness of the training, and a questionnaire to determine the teacher's response to the training. By using Hake's normalized gain data analysis, a training effectiveness score of 0.40 was obtained, which means that the training was effective enough to increase participants' knowledge related to the training material. While the teacher responses were processed in terms of percentages and graphs, an average of 58.16% of participants rated very well on the training program and an average of 68.95% of participants rated very well on the performance of the facilitator during the training. Based on these results the training carried out has been assessed well by the participants but it is necessary to develop an advanced training program so that the teachers participating in the next training will better understand the inquiry learning model in science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of the POE (Predict Observe, Explain) learning model on understanding the student's science concept on the material and its application in daily life. This is due to research on using POE learning model to understand the concept has not done much. This type of research isquantitative experimentation with posttest only class experiment control design. The research method began from observation at SMP Negeri 32 Semarang, compiled a research instrument, execute learning with POE model, then analysis of research data and make conclusions. Data analysis results show that the experimental class classical submission was 77 while in the control class of 70. The results expressed the influence of POE learning models to understand the concept. The findings in this study have been the collation between the POE learning model of the understanding of the concept, learning model of the motivation to learn. The conclusion of this study was the influence of POE learning model of the conceptual understanding of 53.13% and the coleration of 43%. The advice of this research is that the use of POE-defecting models that affect students ' understanding can be used as a reference in enhancing the understanding of student concepts.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop physics learning media using Android-based Augmented Reality on static electricity topic in the form of an application called PARE (Physics AR Education). This application focuses on visualizing static electricity topic. The method used in this study is Research-and-Development. This study was conducted in three schools including SMAN 12 Tangerang, SMAN 90 Jakarta, dan SMAN 63 Jakarta each in two-class respondents. Validation tests were conducted by material and media experts. Media assessment shows that all the 15 statements received an average score of 4,49 hence categorized as very good. The material assessment shows that all the 12 statements received an average score of 4,07 hence categorized as good. The whole percentage of expert assessment reached 85,6%. Students' trial tests were conducted twice including small-scale and large-scale trial tests. The small-scale trial test was conducted towards 13 students and received an average score of 4,39 hence categorized as very good. Meanwhile, the large-scale trial test towards 201 students received an average score of 4,01 hence categorized as good. The whole percentage of the trial test reached 84%. Overall, media effectivity could be seen based on pretest and posttest that were conducted in SMA Negeri 12 Tangerang, SMAN 90 Jakarta, and SMAN 63 Jakarta with a total of 201 students and showed that the percentage reached 96,87% which categorized as very good.

Abstract

This study aims to see the high level of learning achievement of second year students of SMPN 3 Singosari using the REACT learning model compared to the discovery learning model on material pressure and its application in everyday life. The problem experienced by students in understanding material pressure material that is abstract is one of the factors that influence the low learning achievement. Students also have difficulty connecting their concepts with real-world phenomena. Therefore, we need a meaningful learning reform to improve learning achievement. One of the reforms is to choose a contextual learning model REACT to overcome these problems. The quasi-experimental method was used for this study, with the Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design in the experimental class and the control class. The research population is second year students of SMPN 3 Singosari 2018/2019 academic year consisting of 9 classes. The technique for sampling in this study is purposive sampling. The sample chosen to be the subject of the study is SMPN 3 Singosari students in the 2018/2019 academic year class VIII I as an experimental class and class VIII H as a control class, with 31 students per class. Analysis of students' initial abilities through pretest results, while high or not student achievement is seen through posttest. The T test gives the results of > = 2.3057 > 1.6706, which indicates an inequality in learning achievement, between students learning through REACT and conventional learning models. After that, Tukey test was conducted to produce the value of > = 3.289 > 2.89, higher learning achievement using the REACT model compared to conventional models. The REACT model is effective as an effort to solve the problem of low learning achievement.

Abstract

Science learning was still dominated by the lecture model. Consequently, students were less active and difficult in the learning process. The difficulty was caused by the low teacher ability to manage it so that the learning was less effective and interesting. As a result student’s interest and learning achievement in learning science was low. Therefore, a learning model is needed to support student mastery. One of them was the cooperative learning model of student teams achievement divisions. This research aimed to describe the activities and student learning outcomesafter learning using a cooperative learning model of student teams achievement divisions on Vibration and Wave. This study was a descriptive research with a quantitative approach. It used One-Shot Case Study. The Subjects of this study were students of class VIII of State Junior High School 3 Jombang consisting of 30 students. Student activities were observed by the student activities sheet. Learning outcomes were determined based on mastery of students and mastery of learning indicators on minimal mastery criteria. The results of the research showed that: (1) Studentactivities at the first and second meetings reached 89,5% with very good criteria, (2) Student learning outcome reached 77% while the learning indicator value got 86,5 with mastery category.
