Abstract

The learning achievement of high school students of Malang city in physics was still low, thus the appropriate learning strategies was necessaryto optimize the physics learning achievement. V diagram procedural scaffoldingin Group Investigation was designed with the aim to optimize student learning achievement. The purpose of this study was to examine differences in learning achievement of groups of students who learn through Scaffolding Procedural strategies in Group Investigation and groups of students who are studying with Group Investigation, to examine differences in student achievement between thosewith high and low prior knowledge levels, and to examine the interaction between learning strategies (procedural scaffolding in GI and GI) and initial knowledge of students towardlearning achievement. The method used in this study wasquasi-experimental.The design used in this study was Two Factorial Design consisted of two experimental classes and two control classes each. The results indicated that learning achievement group of students who learn through proceduralscaffolding in Group Investigation was higher than the group of students who are studying with Group Investigation. The learning achievements of students with high prior knowledge surpassed those with low prior knowledge. Last, there was an interaction between the learning strategies and prior knowledge of students toward learning achievement.

Abstract

One of the main problems in physics is the emergence of students’ misconceptions which comes from the prejudices of false starts and a naive belief. Many studies have shown that students tend to have developed their own understanding before the formal teaching is done. The ideas which are developed by students which are different from the explanations by the experts are known as misconceptions. The initial idea that has been formed by the students is very difficult to change by the teachers although the materials are presented with scientific concepts. Misconceptions diagnosis research on the hydrostatic pressure concept was conducted on 23 students of class X MIA B SMAN 3 Malang using Three-tier test. The diagnosis results that the students get misconceptions on the indicators, it explain the hydrostatic pressure is influenced by the depth and at all points located in the horizontal area in the calm liquid has the same hydrostatic pressure, and the hydrostatic pressure is proportional to the density of the fluid, include 1) students believe that hydrostatic pressure is greater at a point closer to the closed cavity (43.5%), 2) the students believe that the hydrostatic pressure is proportional to the density of the submerged object (30.4%), 3) the students believe that the hydrostatic pressure is greater on the outside of the cave because it has a larger volume of fluid so that the pressure is higher (17.4%), 4) students had misconceptions in determining the depth in case of hydrostatic pressure (13%), 5) the students believe that the hydrostatic pressure is greater in the narrow place (13%).

Abstract

This research was aimed at profiling student?s thinking skills in dealing with Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions based on Marzano taxonomy by referring to 13 indicators. This pre-experimental research employed pretest-posttest design. The indicators included were comparison, classification, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, error analysis, construction, analysis perspective, abstraction, decision making, investigation, problem solving, inquiry experiment, and innovation finding. The instrument used was a 13-essay question (r-Pearson= 0.79 and Cronbach alpha = 0.68). The data gained from 98 students of Natural Science Education was then analyzed using paired t-test. The results showed the significant different between pre-test and posttest (sig. <0.01). As many as four HOTS indicators (i.e. deductive reasoning, error analysis, construction, and abstraction) were categorized as low level. Meanwhile, the eighth HOTS indicators were categorized as moderate level, namely: comparison, inductive reasoning, analysis perspective, decision making, investigation, solving problem, inquiry experiment, and innovative finding. In addition, the classification indicator was considered in high level in the end of the course. It can be concluded that, in general, students? HOTS are still in moderate level. Thus, the proper strategies should be designed to improve this condition into the optimal level.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the condition of existing facilities at Bumiayu Station, to determine the factors that are the top priority of services at Bumiayu Station facilities and utilities to improve service quality. as well as planning the development of Bumiayu Station based on the results of an analysis of passenger satisfaction levels. This research is focused on developing existing facilities and utilities at Bumiayu station, and adjusted to the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) PM No. 63 of 2019. The facilities developed include: platforms, canopies (overcapping), parking lots and waiting rooms. And evaluating the service level of the station after and before the construction of data collection is carried out through a survey then the collected data is analyzed using the IPA (Importance Performance Analysis) method. The results of the Customer Statisfaction Index analysis show that passengers at Bumiayu Station at this time feel SATISFIED with the services provided with a value of 0.54. With the increase in the number of residents at Bumiayu Station each year, it is not certain that the following year passengers will be satisfied enough with the performance of passenger service at Bumiayu Station.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to see the high level of learning achievement of second year students of SMPN 3 Singosari using the REACT learning model compared to the discovery learning model on material pressure and its application in everyday life. The problem experienced by students in understanding material pressure material that is abstract is one of the factors that influence the low learning achievement. Students also have difficulty connecting their concepts with real-world phenomena. Therefore, we need a meaningful learning reform to improve learning achievement. One of the reforms is to choose a contextual learning model REACT to overcome these problems. The quasi-experimental method was used for this study, with the Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design in the experimental class and the control class. The research population is second year students of SMPN 3 Singosari 2018/2019 academic year consisting of 9 classes. The technique for sampling in this study is purposive sampling. The sample chosen to be the subject of the study is SMPN 3 Singosari students in the 2018/2019 academic year class VIII I as an experimental class and class VIII H as a control class, with 31 students per class. Analysis of students' initial abilities through pretest results, while high or not student achievement is seen through posttest. The T test gives the results of > = 2.3057 > 1.6706, which indicates an inequality in learning achievement, between students learning through REACT and conventional learning models. After that, Tukey test was conducted to produce the value of > = 3.289 > 2.89, higher learning achievement using the REACT model compared to conventional models. The REACT model is effective as an effort to solve the problem of low learning achievement.
