Abstract

The purpose of this study to describe the profile of mother figures in Ibuk's novel by Iwan Setyawan. The type of this research is qualitative research by using descriptive method based on content analysis. The object of this research is the text of Ibuk novel by Iwan Setyawan. The data collection technique is done by reading and understanding the novel of Ibuk by Iwan Setyawan, marking the special sections on the profile of the characters, and inventorying data about the mother character profile in Ibuk novel by Iwan Setyawan using format. The data analysis is done by (1) identifying the data already collected, whether it describes the aspects studied or not, (2) classifying or analyzing the data that can be abstracted as the profile data of figures using the format, (3) interpreting the data, that is interpreting the data already Collected, (4) draw conclusions and (5) write reports. The results of this study indicate that the profile of mother figures in Iwan Setyawan's Ibuk novel, namely: (a) women who have a passionate spirit, hardworking women, gentle and humble women, loving women, (b) the profile of family figures that is, women as faithful wives, women as struggling mothers, women as loving grandmothers and profiles of figures in society as simple women and in religion as women who always remember Allah. Keywords: novel, women, profile figure

Abstract

The purposes of this study are as follows. The first, to describe the types of illocutionary speech acts that used by Ustaz Yusuf Mansur in the show of Wisata Hati on ANTV television station. Second, to describe the strategies of speech acts that used by Ustaz Yusuf Mansur in the show of Wisata Hati on ANTV. Third, to describe the context of the situation of speech that used by Ustaz Yusuf Mansur in the show of Wisata Hati on television. The data of this study is a form of illocutionary speech act, speak strategies, and context used by Ustaz Yusuf Mansur on television. The method used in this study is themethod refer to the advanced techniques involved free free techniques refer to competent. Based on the study results, it was concluded the following. First, the form of illocutionary speech acts of the most widely used by Ustaz Yusuf Mansur in the show of Wisata Hati on ANTV is representative speech acts and speech act directive. It fits with the illocutionary speech act theory as religious speech containing factual matters raised by religious leaders. Second, the strategy of speech the most widely used by Ustaz Yusuf Mansur is a strategy speak frankly without further ado. Third, the context of the situation of speech in the illocutionary speech act Ustaz Yusuf Mansur speech in the situation relaxed atmosphere sensitive topic, tend to use strategies speak frankly with strings attached positive politeness; sensitive topic in the situation speech a formal atmosphere, tend to use strategies speak frankly with strings attached politeness negative; in the situation of speech topic is not sensitive relaxed atmosphere, tend to use strategies speak frankly without further ado; in the situation of speech, topic is not sensitive formal atmosphere, tend to use strategies speak frankly without further ado.

Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) the pair of adjective synonyms in Minangkabau Language at Kanagarian Kacang, District  X  Koto Singkarak, Solok Regency, and (2) types for the pair ofadjective synonymsin Minangkabau Language at Kanagarian Kacang, District X Koto Singkarak, Solok Regency. Type of this research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. Data of this research are adjectives in Minangkabau language in variety of oral and writing. The source of this research data are adjective synonyms in Minangkabau language. This research conducted in the community of Kanagarian Kacang, District X Koto Singkarak, Solok Regency. Result of this study concluded: (1) the pair of adjective synonyms in Indonesian language are standard adjectives in high percentage and non-standard adjectives in low percentage, and (2) four types of adjective synonyms in Minangkabau language are absolute synonymy, complete synonymy, descriptive synonymy, and near-synonymy.Keywords: synonyms, adjektive, language Minangkabau

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the representation of (1) personality pleasure, (2) recreational prestige, (3) group fun, (4) juvenile delinquency, (5) hypoactivism, and (6) urban teenage cultures in a teen lite novel, The Unfunniest Comedy by Wiwien Wintarto. The data are the phrase, clause, sentence, that shown a problem of urban teenage life in a teen lite novel, The Unfunniest Comedy by Wiwien Wintarto. The results of the study are (1) the representation of personality pleasures in novel is depicted by reading tabloids and watching movies, (2) the representation of recreational prestige in a novel are teenagers shopping activities, houses in residential areas, luxury restaurants is visited for meals, their owned vehicles , cinema as a place of entertainment that must be visited, and work in the entertainment industry, (3)  the representation of group fun in a novel are teenagers who can be told an opinion in a group and set up rules in association, (4) the representation of juvenile delinquency  in a novel is against the status of skipping school and leaving training obligations, (5) the representation of hypoaktivism in a novel is teenagers’ dependency on others in daily activity, (6) the representation of cultural in this novel is teenagers’ behavior that mimics their idol. Keywords: novel, teenlit, urban teenagers

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the categories and functions of social expression trust of the bans abstinence bride growing in Nagari Barung-barung Balantai sub-Distric Koto XI Tarusan Distric Pesisir Selatan. The data was done by using the following: (1) determine the informant who meets the criteria of a good informant, (2) conduct interviews, take notes, and record an expression of the confidence of informants, (3) keep records of returning the record that has been done, (4) enter data into a inventory data format. Data were analyzed with the following steps: (1) move recordings into written language, (2) interpretation and describe the recording into Indonesian, (3) classify each expression of the people by category and function, (4) draw conclusions and write a report. The findings of this study concluded that the ban abstinence expression of the bride is a means of communication in the hearts and feelings expressed in figurative language.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the form, context and function of invective in the language of Minangkabau in Terminal Aua Kuniang Bukittinggi. The data of study is the expressions used invective language of Minangkabau society in Terminal Aua Kuniang Bukittinggi district. The data source of this research is the speech of informants in Terminal Aua Kuniang South Bukittinggi district. The finding of study is eksplained three things, namely 1) the form of invective, 2) the context of using invective expression, and 3) the functions of using invective expressions. The form of invective consists of word and phrases. Function invective expression consists of: (1) express their resentment, (2) strong angerand extreme, (3) as comedy, (4) a means of expressing in timacy in relationships, (5) contempt, (6) expressed frustration and annoyance, and (7) as a means of disclosure as tonishment.Keywords: form, context, function, invective, Minangkabau language

Abstract

The purposes of this research are (1) describe the reduction of the story of the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban which was adapted into a movie entitled Perempuan Berkalung Sorban, (2) describe the addition of the story of the movie Perempuan Berkalung Sorban which was adapted from the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban, (3) describe various form of changing or alterations of the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban which was adapted into the movie Perempuan Berkalung Sorban, (4) describe the function of alterations of the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban which has been adapted into the movie Perempuan Berkalung Sorban. Data of this research are parts of the story in the novel and movie Perempuan Berkalung Sorban which shows the reduction, addition, and various alterations that is measured from the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban. Sources of the data are the novel and movie Perempuan Berkalung Sorban. The data were taken through notetaking method. Research findings shows that there are 24 events, 9 characters, and 5 settings.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to (1) describe the reading of heuristic and hermeneutic, (2) describe semantic indirection, (3) describe matrix, model, and variant, and (4) show hypogram from the poems of Dongeng Marsinah by Sapardi Djoko Damono. This is a qualitative descriptive study because the sources are from books and journals. The data are word, phrase, clause or sentences from the poems of Dongeng Marsinah by Sapardi Djoko Damono. The results are (1) the reading of heuristic and hermeneutic, (2) semantic indirection, (3) matrix, model, and variant, and (4) hypogram from the poems of Dongeng Marsinah by Sapardi Djoko Damono, which use the theory of Semiotic Riffaterre. Keywords: poem, Semiotics, Riffaterre

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to structure the text mantra pelaris dagangan, the supporting aspects of reading mantra pelaris dagangan, and the process of inheritance mantra pelaris dagangan. The data were collected by observation and taking a note the data. The techniques used are recording techniques and dikte technique, because some people say if the mantra is recorded, it will reduce the benefit of mantra itself. The research finding is the text structure mantra pelaris dagangan, the supporting aspects of reading mantra pelaris dagangan, and the process of inheritance mantra pelaris dagangan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the forms of errors in use (diction) of the choice of words by provincial legislative and party leaders in West Sumatra on social media. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data source in this study is utterances written by legislative officials and party leaders on Facebook. The results showed 199 data / utterances were careful, in the use of word choice in terms of inaccuracy, inaccuracy, and discrepancies, found 13 speeches that did not follow the use of word choice in terms of discrepancies, 3 utterances that did not follow the use of word choice in terms of inaccuracies, and 2 utterances that do not follow the use of word choices in terms of non-conformityKeyword: word choice, legislative officers, facebook
