Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to describe (1) the characteristics of the short story text structure of class XI MIPA 4 SMAN 11 Padang and (2) the characteristic of the short story text elements by class XI MIPA 4 SMAN 11 Padang. Theories related to this research there are four theories, namely (a) understanding of short story text, (b) short story text structure, (c) elements in short story text, and (d) short story text style. The type of research used is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The data of this study are the results of the writing of the students of class XI MIPA 4 SMAN 11 Padang in the form of short stories totaling 33 short stories. The technique for validating the data used is a thick description. Data were analyzed using simple statistical descriptive techniques and qualitative analysis using formats. Based on the results of the study can be concluded,first, short story text by students of class XI MIPA 4 SMAN 11 Padang are more dominantly built on five structures, namely abstract, orientation, complications, evaluation, and resolution. It can be interpreted that the short story text by students of class XI MIPA 4 SMAN 11 Padang is not complex text structures. Second, short story text by students of class XI MIPA 4 SMAN 11 Padang dominantly using advanced plot. Third, short story text by students of class XI MIPA 4 SMAN 11 Padang then to use three types of language styles, namely hyperbolic style, personification, and simile. Kata kunci : Karakteristik, teks cerpen

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was categorized into three. First, to describe the reading skills in understanding the short story of the second-year students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang. Second, to describe the writing skills of a short story for the second year students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang. Third, to describe the contribution of reading short story comprehension into the writing skills of a short story made by the second year students of SMK Negeri 9 Padang. The design of this research was quantitative with a descriptive method. Then, this study also was a correlational design. The population of this study was the second - grade students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang in the academic year 2018/2019 for about 232 students. The sample of this study was taken by using a proportional random sampling technique (20%), which was 46 students. The data of this study were the results of reading skills tests for understanding short story texts and the results of the text writing short story texts. The instrument of this study was an objective test to measure reading skills in understanding short story texts and performance tests to measure short story texts writing skills. There were several results of this study. First, the writing skill of the short story text of the second-year students at SMK Negeri  Padang was more than adequate (LdC). Second, reading skills understanding the short text of the second-year students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang was in a Good qualification (B). Third, reading skills understanding the short story of the second-year students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang contributed 72.1% to the short story writing skills of the second year students of SMK Negeri 9 Padang.         Kata Kunci: Kontribusi, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman Teks Cerpen, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Cerpen

Abstract

ABSTRACT  The purpose of this study is to describe the velues of character education in Tere Liye’s novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin. The type of this study is qualitative research with descriptive method and using triangulation technique to validate the data. The research data is in the form of words, phrases, sentences, and discourses that show the actions of the characters, the words of the characters and the narrator, which indicate the values of character education found in Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin. The data collection technique of this study is to read and understand Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin then recording the data related to character education values in Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin in the form of units of events from character’s behavior. The data analysis technique of this research is describing the values of character education in Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin which is seen in a unit of character events, classifying, analyzing data, interpreting, and compiling reports.As the results of the research founded 72 values of character education, namely 5 values of religious character education, 17 values of hard work character education, 4 values of independent character education, 6 values of curiosity character education, 5 values of education value achievement, 9 values of friendly character education, 3 values of character education are fond of reading, 15 values of moral value character education, and 8 values of education responsibility. The most dominant valueof character education in Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh ismoral value character education as much as 15 data. Kata kunci: Nilai, Pendidikan Karakter, Novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin

Abstract

ABSTRACT  There are three purpose of this research. The first,to describe  Vocabulary The second, to describe Fantasy Story Text Writing Skills. And the third, to describe the Correlation of Vocabulary Mastery with Fantasy Story Text Writing Skills. The kind of this research is quantitative descriptive method with correlational approach. The design used in this research is the correlational design. The sample in this research is determined by proportional random sampling of 20% of the population, namely 40 students. The instrument of this research is an objective test to measure vocabulary mastery and performance tests to measure fantasy story text writing skills. There are three results of this research. First, the writing skills of fantasy text of the VII Grade Students of SMP Negeri 17 Padang are in Very Well (BS). The second, Vocabulary Mastery of the VII Grade Students of SMP Negeri 17 Padang are in Very Well (BS). And the third, the vocabulary mastery has a correlation with the fantasy story writing skills of VII grade students of SMP Negeri 17 Padang with a degree of freedom n-2 at a 95% confidence level. Tcount value (5.23) is greater than Ttable (1.68). Therefore, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted because the test results prove that Tcount is greater than Ttable. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the mastery of vocabulary correlated with the writing skill of fantasy story text. Kata Kunci: Korelasi, Kosakata, Teks Cerita Fantsi

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the themes in the anthology of short story texts for students of the 2014 Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The approach used in this study is an objective approach. The data of this study are themes in the anthology of short stories of students in the 2014 Indonesian Language and Literature Education class in the form of words, sentences, and discourses. The technique of analyzing this research data, which collects data, is classified, then analyzed based on theory. The method used is descriptive method in accordance with the research objectives. Based on the results of the study, found the themes in the anthology of short stories students in the 2014 Indonesian Language and Literature Education class were found. First, data containing physical themes with indicators of adolescent love conflict. Second, data containing organic themes with indicators of sexual scandal conflict and betrayal of husband and wife. Third, data containing social themes with indicators of economic conflict, struggles in living life, love: friendship, parent-child, and crime (murder). Fourth, data that contains selfish themes: selfishness, character and attitude which are characteristic of inner conflict. Fifth, data containing several themes (main themes and additional themes) indicators are more than one meaning. Based on the results of the study, it is hoped that it can be applied to Indonesian language lessons in class XI SMA with short story text material. Kata Kunci: tema-tema, antologi teks cerpen

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this writing is to research the influence of TTW’s learning by using picture in series as the media towards class VII of SMP Negeri 2 2X11 Enam Lingkung’s students’ skill on writing fable. The data of this research are the students’ scores of writing fables. It is collected by doing the test of writing fable toward the sample before and after using TTW’s technique by using picture in series. The result of this technique is using T-test formula. The result of this research showing 1) the writing skill of fable before and after using TTW’s technique of picture in series are in “Lebih dari Cukup” (LdC) qualification; 2) the writing skill of fable before and after using TTW’s technique of picture in series are in the “Baik Sekali” (BS) qualification and 3) as the result of using T-test formula showing that the writing skill of fable before and after using TTW’s technique of picture in series giving very good influence towards the students’ skill of writing fable text in class VII of SMP Negeri 2 2X11 Enam Lingkung. Kata kunci: Pengaruh, TTW Berbantuan Media Gambar Berseri, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Fabel

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the values of character education in the novel Pukat by Tere Liye. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The technique of validating the data used in this study is the triangulation technique. This research data is in the form of word, phrases, sentences, and discourses that showcase the action of figures, exposure of the words of the characters and narrators which indicate the values of character education found in the novel Pukat by Tere Liye. The data collection of this research is to read and understand the novel Pukat by Tere Liye as a whole to gain a clear understanding of the contents of the novel, determine the names of characters and the status of figures, inventory data, classify data, and conclude data relating to character education values in the novel Pukat by Tere Liye and guided by appreciative reading. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the values of character education in the novel Pukat by Tere Liye, namely the values of religious character education, the value of honest character education, the value of character tolerance education, the value of education of hard-working characters, the value of creative character education, the value of independent character education, the value of curious character education, the value of friendly/communicative character education, the value of peace-loving character education, the value of reading character-loving education, the value social care character education, the value of character education responsibility, and the value of discipline character education. The value of character education is dominant in the novel Pukat by Tere Liye, which is 13 values of religioun character education. Then, the results of this study can be implicated in Indonesian language learning and other learning both in the classroom and outside the classroom. Kata kunci: Nilai, Pendidikan Karakter, Novel Pukat

Abstract

This study was aimed to (1) describe and interpret the representation of mother's parenting pattern in kaba Cindua Mato by Syamsuddin St. Rajo Endah, (2) describe the impact of mother's parenting pattern on children's behavior in kaba Cindua Mato by Syamsuddin St. Rajo Endah, and (3) find factors influencing mother's parenting pattern in kaba Cindua Mato by Syamsuddin St. Rajo Endah.This study type was qualitative by using descriptive analysis method. The data source of this study was kaba Cindua Mato by Syamsuddin St. Rajo Endah. Collecting data technique was done by (1) reading kaba Cindua Mato by Syamsuddin St. Rajo Endah, (2) translating kaba Cindua Mato by Syamsuddin St. Rajo Endah, and (3) identifying and classifying data related to mother’s parenting pattern, such as (a) the type of parenting pattern, (b) the impact of parenting pattern, and (c) factor affecting parenting pattern. Based on the data analysis, the results of the study were concluded as follows. Mother's parenting pattern showed that the democratic parenting style made the children able to communicate well in expressing his opinion. The impact of democratic upbringing made the children able to (1) respect the opinions of others, (2) respect differences of opinion, and (3) promote tolerance. Environmental factor affected children behavior. Environmental factor encouraged the children to understand about the environment. On cultural factor, the children learned about Minangkabau culture. RAJO ENDAHAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk, (1) mendeskripsikan dan menginterpretasikan representasi pola asuh ibu dalam kaba Cindua Mato karya Syamsuddin St. Rajo Endah, (2) dampak pola asuh ibu terhadap perilaku anak dalam kaba Cindua Mato karya Syamsuddin St. Rajo Endah, dan (3) menemukan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pola asuh ibu dalam kaba Cindua Mato karya Syamsuddin St. Rajo Endah. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kulitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah kaba Cindua Mato karya Syamsuddin St. Rajo Endah. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan cara (1) membaca kaba Cindua Mato karya Syamsuddin St. Rajo Endah, (2) menerjemahkan kaba Cindua Mato karya Syamsuddin St. Rajo Endah, dan (3) mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikasi data yang berhubungan dengan pola asuh ibu, seperti (a) jenis pola asuh, (b) dampak pola asuh, dan (c) faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pola asuh. Berdasarkan analisis data disimpulkan hasil penelitian sebagai berikut. Pertama, pola asuh ibu menunjukkan bahwa pola asuh demokratis membuat anak dapat berkomunikasi dengan baik dalam menyampaikan pendapatnya. Dampak pola asuh demokratis membuat anak dapat (1) menghargai pendapat orang lain, (2) menghormati perbedaan pendapat, dan (3) mengedepankan sikap tenggang rasa. faktor lingkungan mempengaruhi sikap si anak. Faktor lingkungan mendorong si anak agar dapat memahami tentang lingkungannya. Pada faktor budaya, si anak belajar mengenai budaya Minangkabau.Kata kunci: Pola Asuh Ibu, Kaba, Cindua Mato

Abstract

This research is motivated by problems in the world of education, that the values of character education get less attention because more directed to the mastery of academic or cognitive aspects. While the actual nonakademik aspect becomes the main foundation in character education less attention, so less embedded in learners. Therefore, this study aims to instill the values of character education contained in the novel Rantau Satu Muara by Ahmad Fuadi. This novel is chosen because it is closely related to the values of character education. The type of this research is qualitative with descriptive analysis method. This research also uses the approach of literary sociology. The data collection is done by the researchers themselves. The researcher recorded and analyzed the data during the research to collect the data taken in the novel text then the researchers themselves processed and analyzed the data in detail. The results of this study are the values of character education in the novel Rantau Satu Muara by Ahmad Fuadi which contains the values of character education, as follows. (1) Educational values of religious characters with indicators of sincerity, diligent worship / prayer, prayer, thanksgiving, and put your trust in. (2) The values of hard work character education with indicators of earnest, unyielding, aspiring and creative. (3) The values of education of the love character of the homeland with nationalist indicators and respect for diversity. (4) Educational values of the character communicative / friendly with indicators of cooperation, social care, love out, affection, kindness and respect the achievements of others. (5) The educational values of the characters love to read with the indicators of love science and diligent reading. (6) Values of character education responsibilities with independent indicators.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to describe the contribution of reading comprehension to the writing skill in the exposition text on the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang. This research is a quantitative research with descriptive method. The sample in this study amounted to 40 students. The data is score of exposition text writing skill test result and reading comprehension test result. Based on data analysis and discussion, the following three things are obtained. First, the exposition text writing skill test result of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang is in good qualification (81,50). Second, the reading comprehension skill test result on the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang is in good qualification (81,39). Third, the reading comprehension skill has 43,03% contribution to the writing skill of the exposition text on eight grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang and the rest (56,97%) influenced by other factors not examined in this research. Kata kunci: kontibusi, membaca pemahaman, menulis, teks eksposisi
