Abstract

The traditional rules of Bali regulate the use of space as a manifestation of the rules of palemahan in the Tri Hita Karana concept. The arrival of Moslem migrants to Tabana urban area forms the Moslem community of Kampung Jawa which is the largest Moslem community in the Tabanan urban area and still exists today. The high intensity of interaction between Moslems and Hindus has resulted in spatial acculturation related to the rules of palemahan. This research aims to find out the process of spatial acculturation of the Moslem community in urban Tabanan Bali. The method used was a case study method with the Kampung Jawa area as a case unit. Data collection of case evidence was obtained through observation and in-depth interviews to the informant who are considered to have knowledge of the variety and spatial acculturation processes that occur and supported by other secondary data. This study found a different process and time of formation in each type of spatial acculturation that occurred. Spatial acculturation of the Moslem community of the Kampung Jawa in Tabanan urban takes several stages of the process, namely: (1) social interaction, (2) Moslem understanding of Hinduism, (3) Moslem adaptation, (4) Hindus understanding of Moslems, (5) acculturation, and (6) expansion of space, actors, and type of spatial acculturations.

Abstract

The analysis of economic growth rate and structure in a region will be useful to determine the leading and potential industrial categories. The data used in this study are taken from the Statistics Agency (BPS) including economic growth rate and structure data at 2010 to 2017 in both Sragen Regency and Central Java. The analysis method used are LQ and Klassen Typology. The result of the LQ analysis show that the leading industrial categories in Sragen Regency cover A, B, D, E, G, the join of M and N, P category, then the join of R, S, U and T categories. The result of the Klassen Typology analysis state that Sragen Regency is a potential area to grow and develop economically.

Abstract

Poverty indicators such as Head Count Ratio (HCR), Poverty Gap (PG), and Poverty Severity (PS) are calculated by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) through National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) which only designed to estimate national, province, and regency/city level. Although Susenas has the large sample, it is not enough if used for small area direct estimation in sub-district level. To estimate until sub-district level, some BPS in district office enlarge the sample (oversampling) through an additional survey, called by Regional Socio-Economic Survey (Suseda) which need the more the human resource and the cost. We need a model based small area technique which only using the original sample (without oversampling) but it produce more accurate estimation. In this research, small area estimation is based on the unit level model with Population Census 2010 (SP2010) and Susenas 2015 as the providers of auxiliary/explanatory variables and the household per-capita expenditure as the response variables. This research using M-quantile regression model which robust to the outliers which utilizes influence function and quantile value in weighting the residual to produce regression coefficient estimates. To evaluate the accuracy of estimates (oversampling and M-quantile), we use RRMSE of sub-district level poverty indicators.

Abstract

This research is aimed to analyse the distribution of a cultivation technique of wetland paddy so-called “Jajar Legowo” in Central Java Province as well as its impact on paddy productivity. We made use of the Results of the 2017 Cost Structure of Food Crops Cultivation Survey carried out by Statistics Indonesia (BPS). A spatial analysis and an estimation of Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression model was used to achieve aims. Our results pointed out that the wetland paddy households implementing the technique only made up about 32.05 per cent of the total number of wetland paddy households in Central Java. They were concentrated in some municipalities, i.e., Prubalingga, Banjarnegara, Grobogan, Kudus, Demak, Temanggung and Kendal. Meanwhile, the OLS estimations showed that the technique has a significant impact in boosting productivity up to 16 per cent compared to other cultivation techniques. Therefore, it could be a key measure in increasing rice production in Central Java. Moreover, our findings also pointed out that other measures such as enhancing the capacity of farmers, the use of high-quality seed and mechanisation and improving the access on financial resources also have a pivotal role in improving the productivity of paddy in the province.

Abstract

Village is an important social unit in the living space that also experiences its dynamics. In contrast to cities, villages give us perspective on value and historical construction. With the development and uncontrolled population explosion also has an impact on the changing face of the village. The crowded city forced the population to migrate to find land in the village. This study aims to interpret changes in the face of the village as a result of urban migration. This study uses qualitative methods with a case study approach. Data collection is done by interviews, observation and document study. This study took respondents from the initial community, migrants (city residents) who built residential in the village, as well as village apparatus. Based on the results of the study, there were a variety of impacts that occurred as a result of the migration of city residents to villages. Different residential buildings, better economic stability signal that there will be social inequality in the village, and this gives an impulse for social decohesiveness.

Abstract

Abstract. This study is aimed to estimate the returns to education in Indonesia not only at the mean but also across the whole distribution by implementing quantile regression techniques and doing a comparison between gender groups. It also relates the estimation results to the two channels through which education affects the wages inequality, i.e., between-and within-educational-levels earning differentials. We found that education has a positive and significant impact on wage distribution implying that increasing the level of education could shift the wages distribution to the right. In general, the estimates of the returns to education for the female is higher than male. For each gender group, our study also confirms the presence of both the between-groups wages inequality associated with the difference in educational levels among individuals and the within-groups wages inequality caused by the difference in ability among individuals in the same level of education. Our findings suggest that promoting the same level of education for all, particularly tertiary education, could bring down the wages inequality although at the same time the inequality may still exist due to the difference in unobserved characteristic among individuals at the same level of education.

Abstract

The Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages has made the villages as spearhead of efforts to equalize development and improve the people welfare in Indonesia. Since the beginning of the disbursement, the Village Fund has continued to be spotlight, as the amount is quite large and always increases every year. Considering the programs carried out through the use of Village Funds are actually development programs, it should have been included in planning studies so that the objectives achieved can be realized optimally. The approach taken in this study is a deductive approach, started from theory and literature review and then become a reference in studying the object of research. The analysis method used descriptive qualitative method with data obtained from in-depth interviews and document studies with purposive sampling sampling technique which is continued to snow-ball sampling. From 2015 to 2018, Jatiroto Village has produced six development products from the Village Fund utilization program, namely village roads, road grafts, agricultural roads, revitalization of volleyball courts, construction of village shops, and equity participation in BUMDes. Based on the results and previous discussion, it turns out that the programs being run are not in accordance with general planning theory.

Abstract

Kami lakukan pemeraman selama 5-7 hari sebelum aplikasi.

Abstract

The One Village One Product (OVOP) is a voluntary local community movement that drives the Local Economic Development (LED) and the revitalization effort, which was initiated in 1979 in Oita prefecture, Japan. The research examines the OVOP approach by comparing the OVOP program in Indonesia, particularly the case study of OVOP in Sragen regency, Central Java province, to the original OVOP program of Oita prefecture in Japan. This study takes Oita as the observation, since Oita is considered as the region in which the OVOP concept is conducted successfully. For that reason, this research is aimed for taking a lesson to be learned and to be applied in Indonesia, in which in Indonesia the respective concept has not so far succeeded. The key feature of the OVOP implementation in Oita is the bottom-up approach that is well adapted in Japanese experience of local economic development. The case studies illustrated that, when it was transferred to Indonesia, the principles of OVOP were not directly copied from the OVOP in Japan. In Indonesia, OVOP was reconfigured into a government program with a top-down approach. This study will mainly focus on comparing both study cases qualitatively. Basically the characteristics OVOP literature reviews are: the History of the Oita-Japan OVOP program, the study about specific programs outside of Japan based on the Oita OVOP model and the study that compares Oita-type programs across countries. However, this paper found a few studies which focus on the particular role of private companies in initiating and maintaining the OVOP programs, as distributors and suppliers, this topic become main research object for the research
