Abstract

Since the skeleton represents the topology structure of the query sketch and 2D views of 3D model, this paper proposes a novel sketch-based 3D model retrieval algorithm which utilizes skeleton characteristics as the features to describe the object shape. Firstly, we propose advanced skeleton strength map (ASSM) algorithm to create the skeleton which computes the skeleton strength map by isotropic diffusion on the gradient vector field, selects critical points from the skeleton strength map and connects them by Kruskal's algorithm. Then, we propose histogram feature comparison algorithm which adopts the radii of the disks at skeleton points and the lengths of skeleton branches to extract the histogram feature, and compare the similarity between two skeletons using the histogram feature matrix of skeleton endpoints. Experiment results demonstrate that our approach which combines these two algorithms significantly outperforms several leading sketch-based retrieval approaches.

Abstract

To envision and evolve the Internet into the future, what required is a simple but a vital architectural modification which focuses on “What (the contents)” rather than “Where (the addresses)”, that the Internet users and the applications are more concern about. So the communication can be more in effect if the customers can simply identify that what content they want to have instead of from where the content can be possessed. To achieve this and also to make the system more efficient and effective, new internet architecture emerged which we baptized as “Named Data Networking” or simply “NDN” in which packets bring with it the hierarchical data names instead of carrying the source and destination address. In NDN when the customer needs some data, he sends the interest packet which carries the name, is first received by the router and the router then forwards it as per instructed by FIB and uphold the status of pending interest , in further which is used for guiding the retrieved data back to the customer. The main objectives behind developing this architecture are to bring the scalability, efficiency, security and robustness in the current internet state, facilitating the user choice and competition as well. In this paper an overview of different future internet architectural approaches are provided such as CCN, NetInf, PRISP and DONA. NDN as a brand new architectural design among them remains the leading focus and its altered architectural design as a source of fulfilling the above mentioned major issues and objectives.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ij-ict.v2i3.5122

Abstract

Previous research work has highlighted that neuro-signals of Alzheimer’s disease patients are least complex and have low synchronization as compared to that of healthy and normal subjects. The changes in EEG signals of Alzheimer’s subjects start at early stage but are not clinically observed and detected. To detect these abnormalities, three synchrony measures and wavelet-based features have been computed and studied on experimental database. After computing these synchrony measures and wavelet features, it is observed that Phase Synchrony and Coherence based features are able to distinguish between Alzheimer’s disease patients and healthy subjects. Support Vector Machine classifier is used for classification giving 94% accuracy on experimental database used. Combining, these synchrony features and other such relevant features can yield a reliable system for diagnosing the Alzheimer’s disease.

Abstract

Biometrics associated with automated methods of identifying a person or verifying the identity of a person based on physiological or behavioral characteristics. Commonly used biometric features are facial features, fingerprints, voice, facial thermo grams, iris, posture/gait, palm print, hand geometry etc. Compared with other biometric characteristics iris is the most stable and hence the most reliable biometric characteristic over the period of a lifetime. This proposed work provides comparative study of various filters of Wavelet Transforms in terms of size and PSNR of images.

Abstract

Cooperative Education (CO-OP) is a program that aims to sharpen its participants’ entrepreneurship action and spirit. In order to select the students to participate in this program, STMIK STIKOM of Surabaya uses EPPS psychological test which can measure the achievement, deference, autonomy, affiliation, nurturance, and endurance of CO-OP participant. The used of EPPS psychological test is based on the reason that this test is one of the personality tests prepared to measure the power of someone’s need. By the existence of EPS application in selecting CO-OP participant, a proper result’s validity is expected to be reached.

Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of near field of wire scatterers. In this paper, the exact distribution on wire scatterers is approximated using a more accurate two term approximation for the ease of closed form analysis. It has been shown that the results obtained using the two term approximation are very close to the cosinusoidal distribution for the element length up to 0.7  with less than 5% error in the field evaluated from this approximation. This analysis formulation is useful in estimating fields form wire scatterers, mutual coupling in an array of scatterers or analysis of Yagi-Uda antennas.

Abstract

The optical communications had an exponential growth over the last few years, having a significant commercial market in optical systems and components. This growth has been extended across all application areas, from transcontinental and transoceanic distances to regional networks and lastly to campus and building wiring. This paper basically explains the concept of Optical fiber communication, the propagation of light inside the fiber and mainly the two dimensional design of optical fiber itself. The researcher discusses the parameters such as effective group delay, dispersion. Modes, Bending Loss, Material Loss, Mode field, Birefringence, Splice Loss, Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD), Effect of nonlinear Refractive Index. Finally we design the optical fiber with all the above mentioned parameters.

Abstract

A compact printed wideband antenna with circular polarization is designed and the antenna parameters are analyzed in this work. Finite Element method based HFSS tool is used to design and simulate the antenna model. A basic structure of rectangular monopole is converted into a trapezoidal shape with tapered step ground. Different iterations of radiating element as well as defected ground structures are examined in this work to analyze the circular polarization characteristics of the antenna. A peak realized gain of 4.3dB and peak directivity of 3.8dB is attained from the current designed models. The design models are optimized and prototyped on FR4 substrate for measurement validation. By incorporating Split ring resonator (SRR) notch band characteristics are attained in the proposed wideband antenna.

Abstract

Feedforward multilayer models were developed for predicting shelf life of processed cheese stored at 30o C. Input variables were Soluble nitrogen, pH, Standard plate count, Yeast & mould count and Spore count. Sensory score was taken as output parameter for developing feedforward multilayer models. Mean square error, root mean square error, coefficient of determination and nash - sutcliffo coefficient performance measures were implemented for testing prediction potential of the soft computing models. The study revealed that soft computing multilayer models can predict shelf life of processed cheese.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ij-ict.v1i1.506

Abstract

Cloud computing is a new term to provide application and hardware as service over the internet. Demand for cloud has increased dramatically in recent years. However, a major drawback for cloud adoption is lack of security so that we will try to solve some security issues related to cloud storage by design and implement a secure system to store privet data in cloud storage. This secure system provide secure login to cloud by using third parity authentication (smart phone) and one time password depend on chaotic system to prevent unauthorized people from get access to cloud and modified AES algorithms to encrypt the data in the cloud storage.
