Abstract

This study aims to assess the standard of living and the factors that affected on the livelihoods of small-scale farmers in South Sumatera. This study covers the factors that affect the living standards of the poor and not poor small scale farmers as the extent of land, productivity, creation of value added, efficiency, and aquaculture farming. Study site purposively determined, namely rice farmers in the district of OKU Timur and palm oil farmers in the district of Muara Enim. Farmers were randomly drawn sample strata based on land area and production. Data taken with a questionnaire and direct interviews with farmers. Total number of samples is 80 farmers. Methods of analysis, starting with the measure of productivity, calculated using the income approach to value-added, and the measure of efficiency. Verification of data on poverty using the poverty line for rural areas in 2010 BPS. The results showed that farmers with poor living conditions caused by low productivity, efficiency is also low, so that its income is low, less intensive farming and there has been stagnation and polarization of the land thus increasing the number of landless peasants. Poverty is also arising from the exploitation by the farmers themselves (self-exploitation) and the exploitation of market institutions are generally structured monopsony. Abstract

The objective of this study was to show the correlation between inflation, unemployment, and economic growth in Indonesia. Time series data from 1984 to 2013 were used to carry out descriptive analysis and regression using the VAR model. Results from this study are in agreement with the Philips' finding which states that there is a trade-off between inflation and unemployment. Meanwhile, the relationship between economic growth and changes in unemployment as stated by Okun's Law occurs in Indonesia. This is reflected in the Scatter plot which shows that there is a negative relationship between the two variables. Furthermore, results of the VAR regression model indicate that both inflation and economic growth affect unemployment. The impulse response graph shows that the variables will be convergent towards the equilibrium point or return to the previous equilibrium. The response of unemployment as a result of inflation shock and economic growth over a period of 10 years was found to be convergent. Based on the FEVD output, it can be seen that an important source of variation in unemployment was the shock of unemployment itself while the shocks which are related to inflation and economic growth are relatively small. Abstract

This study aims at identifying and analyzing the influence of net exports and foreign exchange reserves on the money in motion (M2) in the period of 1991-2009 in Indonesia. The secondary data were collected from Indonesia Central Office of Statistic, Indonesia Monetary Statistic and Financial Reports of Bank of Indonesia. This research used the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method for the analysis of the data. In the model, M2 was the dependent variable whereas the net exports and the foreign exchange reserves were the independent variable. The analysis states that M2 was influenced by the net exports and the reserves. The result show that the net exports and the foreign exchange reserves influenced on M2 significantly as indicated by R2 value of 0,06409. This means that 64,09 % increase of M2 was determined by the net exports and the foreign exchange reserves, and the rest of 35,91 % was determined by other factors. In the words, the exports and the reserves influenced on M2 simultaneously and significantly as shown by (M2) F –obtained > F –table (12.49855 > 3.59). Keywords: Money In Motion (M2), Net Exports, Foreign Exchange Reserves

Abstract

This research is intended to analyze the level of value added and efficiency of offset printing production at small printing qffice industry in Palembang. Some theories applied on this research namely production and production cost, value added and efficiency. Beside that, sereral comparisons are added to compare the results of this research with others that have been ohsen-ed previously. The results indicate that the average level of value added and efficiency of offset prim in production are Rp. 3.279.200 and 0,56 per month. Compare with the results which are achien!d by other industries, the levels are still in low stage relatively. It means that, in offset printing production  process,   the expenditure proportion of intermediate cost  is still hi her  than  the proceeds proportion of output value and value added.   Key word: value added, eficiency, offset printing production

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the effects of rice production, rice stock, and road & brige condition on rate of inflation in South Sumatera province. The data used in this study are aggregative secondary data from year 2000 to year 2007, and are utilized to estimate a multiple regression model  in the form of double-logaritm. The results of estimation show that rice production, rice stock, and road & brige condition neither totally nor partially influence the rate of inflation in South Sumatera significantly. However, the results show that they are theoretically consistent with and support the expectation. It suggests that one who wants to do the same kind of further research, she or he should use disaggregative data to allow more variation in the data set in order to obtain  sound results statistically. Key Words: Inflation, rice production, rice stock, and road & bridge condition.
