Abstract

This thesis discusses the world view in the novel Ayah Keduaku by Mohd Amin Ms.  The purpose of this research is to find out the author's worldview that appears in the novel Ayah keduaku, where there are several worldviews of Mohd Amin, namely, first, Mohd Amin's worldview on the difference between General Education and Islamic Education.  The second view is the difference in attitudes towards immigrants and indigenous people who serve as regents in Kampar.  The third view, namely the view of the political conflict against the Malay family that occurred in the confrontation between Indonesia and Malayasia.This study uses the dialectical method developed by Lucien Goldmann.  The basic principle of the dialectical method is the principle that it works through knowledge of human facts connected by integrating them into the whole.  The work step in this research is to read and understand the object and collect data related to the object in the research, and then analyzed using the theory of genetic structuralism. To formulate the author's world view, social structure is discussed, namely the background of the author's social life is the Pujud area.  In this case Mohd Amin Ms and the history of the formation of an author's work come from Pujud.  So his work is related to the author's place of origin in Pujud.  The author's view of his work is the view of the author who represents his community group which illustrates some of the views raised in the novel Ayah Keduaku. Genetics structuralism is a literary work that discusses space and time.  Meanwhile, the social structure consists of the background of the author's social life and the history of the publication of the novel My Second Father as well as the author's worldview regarding his work.  From the results of the research, it is suggested that students of Indonesian language and literature can use Lucian Goldmann's study of genetic structuralism with novels with social nuances and for readers to gain an understanding of the author's worldview based on the theory of genetic structuralism so that they can develop further research in the same field.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the types of clauses used in the cyber media Infoindonesia.id. There are three stages in this research; the data provision stage, the data analysis stage, and the data analysis presentation stage. At the data provision stage, the observation method is used. At the data analysis stage, the referential equivalent method is used. At the presentation stage of the data analysis results, the informal presentation method is used. Based on the data on the clauses used in the Infoindonesia.id cyber media, there are various types of clauses. The types of clauses are clauses based on their internal structure, clauses based on the presence or absence of negative words that grammatically negate P, and clauses based on the category of words that occupy the function of P. Clauses based on their internal structure, clauses consist of complete clauses and incomplete clauses. Based on whether there are negative words that grammatically negate P, the clause consists of positive and negative clauses. Based on the category of words that occupy the P function, clauses consist of noun clauses, verb clauses, numeral clauses, and preposition clauses. Verb clauses themselves have several types, namely active verb clauses, intransitive verb clauses, passive verb clauses, verb clauses, adjective verb clauses, reflexive verb clauses, and reciprocal verb clauses.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the identification of the phenomenon of inaccuracies in spelling usage within official correspondence from the Kuranji Subdistrict Office in Padang. Consequently, the aim of this study is to describe these spelling inaccuracies. To address this issue, the research is structured into three distinct phases, namely data collection, data analysis, and presentation of the data analysis results. In the data collection phase, the employed methodology and techniques consist of the observational method using the basic technique of direct observation, complemented by the advanced technique of unobtrusive observation. In the data analysis phase, the utilized methodology and techniques involve referential and orthographic matching methods, utilizing the fundamental technique of Element Determination Sorting (EDS) along with the advanced techniques of Differentiating Comparative Analysis (DCA) and Equating Comparative Analysis (ECA). Subsequently, in the presentation of the data analysis results phase, both formal and informal methods are employed. Based on the analysis results, inaccuracies in letter spelling usage were identified, encompassing the misuse of capital letters, italics, and bold letters.

Abstract

This study discusses the search for the main character's identity in the novel Dayon by Akmal Nasery Basral which is motivated by the problem of changing the name that occurs to the main character. This study uses a Literary Psychology approach. This study aims to explain how the process of searching for the main character's identity in the novel Dayon by Akmal Nasery Basral and to explain whether the process of searching for self-identity is influenced by the author's desire. The theory used in this study is the theory of Psychoanalysis by Jacques Lacan which divides the stages of the subject's self-development based on three aspects, namely imaginary, real, and symbolic. The method used is the Lacanian Psychoanalysis method which sees language as a sign indicating the author's desire. From the research that has been carried out, the process of searching for the main character's identity begins when the main character enters school age, to experience repeated traumatic experiences that occur to the main character, then the search for the main character's identity occurs until the main character identifies himself with Others. Then, the author's desire influences the search for identity carried out by the main character in the novel Dayon by Akmal Nasery Basral. The author's desire arises unconsciously through the language set forth in literary works. The findings of this study are that the main character has not been able to provide complete confirmation regarding self-identity because it is still in the unfinished search stage.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to reveal the intrinsic elements of the short story "Armini" by Motinggo Busye as a representation of the constellation of popular literature during the 1950s to 1960s as a development of science and technology in humanity. This is motivated by Motinggo Busye's works being considered as "light novels" that are thought to present trivial matters. However, in reality, his short stories can provide an overview of the development of science and technology in humanity through the trend of pocket books in his time. "Armini" is one of Motinggo's works that implies a story of humanity, portraying the life of a widow and the negative stigma she must face. This narrative of humanity is the aspect that will be further explored. The research method employed is qualitative research with descriptive analysis. The data acquisition technique used is literature study. To uncover the human values, this research utilizes the theory of human values presented by Nurgiyantoro through the intrinsic elements of characters and characterization previously performed. The results of this study consist of two types of human values as expressed by Nurgiyantoro, namely the relationship between humans and others, and the relationship between humans and themselves. Additionally, the research indicates that Motinggo successfully attempts to break the negative stigma against a widow presented through the elements of characters and characterization in the story. This is a representation of human values towards women. This research contributes theoretically to literary studies, particularly popular literature. Moreover, it provides practical contributions by raising awareness in society to eliminate negative stigmas against women.

Abstract

A relationship between students and lecturers requires communication, both on and off campus. This communication should remain within the boundaries of politeness values, however spoken in semi- formal situations. The existence of social media as a technological development also influences communication between students and lecturers. This research examines speaking styles and politeness values used by students in communicating with lecturers through WhatsApp. The aim of this research is to describe and analyze language politeness used by students when communicating with lecturers via WhatsApp, making descriptions and analyzing deviations from the principles of language politeness used by students when communicating with lecturers via WhatsApp. The data source for this research is a chat application WhatsApp. The research data is in the form of student speech which is used to communicate with lecturers via WhatsApp. This data is used to collect information so that it can be analyzed. Data collection techniques use observation methods, note- taking techniques and interviews. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative methods. Based on the analysis of research results, it was found that there were still many students' speech to lecturers via the WhatsApp application that did not meet politeness values. In this speech, there are still many deviations in politeness in the form of the use of slang, discussions outside the lecture context, impolite ways of expressing intentions, and inappropriate use of paralinguistic aspects.
