Abstract

This article discusses the comparison of intrinsic elements in the poem "Nisan" by Chairil Anwar and the poem "Di Satu Hari Nanti" by Sapardi Djoko Damono and aspects of death using structural studies that have a relationship with intrinsic elements in literary works. The purpose of this study was to compare three types of intrinsic elements of poetry, namely: theme, diction, style, and concrete words. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive with the type of literature study. Qualitative data is obtained through data collection in the form of words, expressions, sentences, and narratives. The objects in this study are the poem "Nisan" by Chairil Anwar and the poem "Di Someday Nanti" by Sapardi Djoko Damono. The study also compared aspects of his death. So as to find similarities in aspects used and differences contained in the content of the poem

Abstract

This study explores the representation of hegemonic power in the novel Hatta: Aku Datang karena Sejarah by Sergius Sutanto using Antonio Gramsci’s hegemony theory. The novel illustrates ideological domination between ruling groups and subordinate classes. This research applies a qualitative-descriptive method and critical discourse analysis, focusing on narrative structures of hegemony. The results reveal three types of hegemony in the novel: integral, declining, and minimal. Integral hegemony is characterized by the voluntary internalization of dominant values. Declining hegemony reflects latent resistance from subordinate groups. Minimal hegemony indicates elite dominance with little or no consent from the masses. These hegemonies emerge in various social contexts, including familial relationships and colonial power structures. The novel also presents counter-hegemonic movements through nationalist resistance led by characters like Hatta and Soekarno against colonial rule. The study concludes that literature functions not only as a space to represent power and ideology but also as a critical medium for revealing hidden structures of domination and encouraging awareness of social injustice.

Abstract

This study analyzes the religious values in the poetry of Abdul Hamid Al-Khatib using Riffaterre’s semiotic approach. The analysis focuses on four key poems: "Promise and Threat" (الْوَعْدُ وَالْوَعِيدُ), "Heaven and Hell" (الْجَنَّةُ وَالنَّارُ), "The Prophets and Messengers" (الْأَنْبِيَاءُ وَالرُّسُلُ), and "The Names and Attributes of Allah" (الْأَسْمَاءُ وَالصِّفَاتُ). The study applies four stages of analysis: continuity of expression, heuristic and hermeneutic reading, hypogram analysis, and the exploration of the literary matrix. Findings reveal that these poems convey profound religious messages through powerful symbolism, intertextuality with sacred texts, and literary language that reinforces Islamic moral and spiritual teachings. Al-Khatib’s work effectively connects readers with divine values, ethical reflection, and religious consciousness.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan citra perempuan dalam kajian feminism yang ada pada novel Laut Bercerita karya Leila S. Chudori. Permasalahan gender yang ada di Indonesia ataupun seluruh negeri selalu menjadi topik yang penting untuk dibahas. Kritik feminis terhadap karya sastra digunakan dalam pergerakan kebebasan perempuan juga mensosialisasikannya. Citra perempuan menjadi fokus utama penelitian ini. Novel ini berlatarbelakang Indonesia pada tahun 1991-2007, dari masa pemerintahan orde baru sampai era reformasi. Sumber data yang diambil dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Laut Bercerita karya Leila S. Chudori. Penelitian yang dilakukan ini dengan kajian feminisme. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik dalam pengumpulan data penelitian ini adalah analisis simak dan catat. Penelitian ini berfokus pada citra perempuan yang meliputi 1) Citra diri perempuan yang terdiri atas aspek fisik dan aspek psikis, 2) Citra sosial perempuan yang terdiri atas citra perempuan dalam keluarga dan citra perempuan dalam masyarakat. Tokoh perempuan yang dibahas pada penelitian ini adalah Kasih Kinanti dan Ratih Anjani.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji representasi satwa dalam kaba Cindua Mato dengan menggunakan pendekatan ekokritik Greg Garrard, khususnya konsep animals. Satwa dalam kaba tidak sekadar hadir sebagai unsur naratif, melainkan berfungsi sebagai cermin moral ekologis yang merefleksikan pandangan masyarakat Minangkabau tradisional terhadap relasi manusia dengan alam dan makhluk hidup nonmanusia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik analisis teks sastra. Data penelitian berupa kutipan-kutipan teks kaba Cindua Mato yang merepresentasikan kehadiran dan perlakuan terhadap satwa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa satwa direpresentasikan sebagai penanda kosmis, penjaga ruang sakral, objek penundukan, serta sumber pemenuhan kebutuhan manusia. Representasi tersebut mencerminkan etika ekologis yang bersifat simbolik dan hierarkis, di mana alam dan satwa dihormati sejauh memiliki fungsi bagi kepentingan manusia dan tatanan adat. Dalam perspektif ekokritik Greg Garrard, keheningan teks terhadap penderitaan satwa menandai batas moral ekologis yang masih antroposentris. Dengan demikian, kaba Cindua Mato dapat dipahami sebagai arsip budaya yang merekam ideologi ekologis tradisional, sekaligus relevan untuk dibaca ulang dalam konteks kesadaran lingkungan kontemporer.
