Abstract

The manual use of household lights poses a problem in the efficiency of electricity use. Humans with various activities often do not pay attention to the condition of the lights in the room whether it lights up or not. This is certainly a waste of electricity when they leave the room without turning off the switch. Therefore, researchers propose an automation system that can save electricity from lighting. In designing the system there are two sensors used, namely Passive Infra Red (PIR) sensor and Light Dependent Resistror (LDR) sensor. PIR functions to detect the presence of human movements (objects) in the sensor work area, while the LDR sensor functions to detect the intensity of light around the room. The results of the system testing are that the PIR sensor works well around ± 2 minutes after the device is activated and the LDR Sensor will continuously measure the value of light intensity then turn on and off the light according to the programmed

Abstract

Tofu is a traditional Indonesian food that is very popular with the community. The tofu production process produces solid and liquid waste. The liquid waste contains very high BOD, COD and TSS which has the potential to pollute the environment, therefore it is necessary to have a Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). This study aims to determine the economic feasibility study of the operation of the WWTP. The research was conducted at CV. Proma Tun Saroyyan Probolinggo. To find out the economic feasibility of the operation of WWTPs using the parameters of the Net Present Value (NPV), Payback Period (PP) and Benefit Cost Ratio (B / C R) The results showed that the WWTP used was the Anaerob-Biogas system, the anaerobic system is wastewater treatment by utilizing microorganisms that work without oxygen free, with three stages, namely: Hydrolysis, Acidification, and Methane Formation Stage. The resulting methane gas (biogas) is a mixture of various types of gases, including CH4 (54% -70%), CO2 (27% -45%), O2 (1% -4%), N2 (0.5% -3%), CO (1%), and H2 which are stored in the gas holder and distributed to the community as an alternative fuel to replace LPG gas. For an analysis of economic feasibility with NPV criteria shows that the biogas WWTP is profitable, because the NPV value is positive at Rp. 58,249,000. Based on the criteria of PP, which is 5 years 10 months 20 days, which means that the time is quite short and does not exceed the age of the economical gas holder. And the value of B / C Ratio is 1.4109 which means that the WWTP biogas in the CV. Proma Tun Saroyyan Probolinggo deserves to be developed because of the value of B / C R> 1.

Abstract

Short circuit is one type of interference that often occurs in electric power systems. The interference if it lasts a long time will affect the quality and continity of electrical power distribution as well as the reliability and safety of the equipment on the system. To minimize the possibility of interference and to minimize the consequences caused by interference, an analysis of disturbances in the electric power system is needed. This study discusses the classification and analysis of disturbances in the electric power system. The type of interference in the electric power system is classified into two, namely symmetry and non-symmetrical interference. Symmetry disturbances are three phase disturbances which are described by the equation of the sequence of the symmetry component system. Sequence equations from the symmetry component system are positive sequence equations, negative sequence equations, and zero sequence equations. Non-symmetrical interference is a disorder that often occurs in electric power systems, namely the interference of one network to the ground, network interference to the network and interference of two networks to the ground. This research is to classify and to analyze the types of disturbances in the Java-Bali electric power system 500 kV 20 buses in the form of a single line diagram, using Power World Simulator and ETAP Software applications. The simulation results are calculated and display the simulation design of the power system with the tools contained in the program.

Abstract

The use of fossil energy as an electric fuel causes the earth to experience global-warming. As a tropical country, Indonesia has great potential to develop solar energy as a substitute for fossil energy. Increased efficiency in capturing sunlight will further optimize the work of the Solar Power Plant (PLTS). One way that can be done is by making a solar tracker so that the Solar Panel can follow the direction of the sun's motion. Optimization Design The solar tracker uses dual axis using Proportional Integral Differential (PID) control tuned with the Imperialis Competitive Algorithm (ICA), which is expected to be able to get the right angle between the yaw and Pitch with Azimuth and Elevation Angle. The PID-ICA controller design is done using matlab software. For vertical and horizontal rotary axes it is expected to obtain the best PID-ICA constant, which in turn will affect the performance and optimization of the photovoltaic system. The best optimization results using ICA-based PID with a settling time value of 0.0906 s on the horizontal axis and 0.094 s on the vertical axis

Abstract

The process of good egg incubation is a major factor in the quality of native chicken eggs which during this time the native chicken mother has many problems such as the lack of eggs that hatch, the number of chickens that are not weather resistant so many eggs that do not hatch and chicken seeds in dead eggs, at least chicken breeders which incubates the eggs, there is no proper method in calculating the temperature and humidity parameters of the chicken coop and there is no information on the process of hatching eggs to farmers in real time. Overcoming this problem, the latest technology is needed that can replace the conventional system of farmers with a controlled system of chicken egg incubators. In this case, the author will make a machine equipped with a chicken hatching control system using the MADM calculation method and SMS Gateway technology as a medium of information to farmers.

Abstract

Pertamina RU V Balikpapan will be integrated with electricity sources with PT. PLN. Then there will be a change in the generator operating pattern on the system so that it needs to be analyzed again. The protection system aims to isolate the interference quickly, selectively, and coordinatively so that damage to the system can be minimized and the continuity of electric power can be maintained properly. The important thing that must be considered from protection coordination, especially in overcurrent relays, is filling the TDS (Time Dial Setting) parameter. TDS regulates the relay operation time in securing a disturbance. Generally the TDS value is determined using a manual calculation to obtain a minimum TDS value. However, to get the right TDS value in coordinating with other relays it still uses trial and error methods. In this final project, we will discuss how to calculate the time dial overcurrent relay inverse setting with the adaptive modified firefly algorithm method in the electrical system at PT. Pertamina RU V Balikpapan considers integration with PLN to obtain a minimum TDS value. The result of this final project is to obtain a minimum TDS value in some cases typical types such as the longest channel, consideration of LVCB operating time, and short channels so that it can be well coordinated with the long lines installed on the same bus.

Abstract

The placement of a transmitter in a wireless network (access point) is one of the essential things which must be considered by the network designer. The right placement will give the maximum signal spread, especially for the closed environment, because of the effect of the indoor propagation, which affects the signal strength decrease significantly. Every AP’s placement point will have different signal spread pattern, including the coverage area. The AP placement process carried out so far still uses conventional methods, namely trial-error, which requires a long time to analyze its performance. A coverage prediction system modeling is built to determine the spread of signals generated by an AP. This modeling is done using a statistical approach in 2D. The modeling did a visualization that is run through software and gives the result of mapping the coverage area of an AP. The test results show that the percentage of area coverage generated based on the AP placement used is currently 72.5%. There are still areas that are not covered by the AP, especially for the NLOS propagation path because of the obstruction around the AP. The maximum distance between the AP and the user so that it is within the coverage area is 13.21m

Abstract

The science of Falak is basically divided into two types, namely the science of Falak Ilmiy, and the science of Falak Amaliy. The science of Falak discussing the direction of Qibla is basically calculating the amount of angles flanked by meridian lines that pass through a place that is called the Qibla direction with a large circle passing through the relevant place and the Kaaba, and calculating what time the sun cuts the path to the Kaaba. The problem that arises is not everyone is able to calculate the correct direction about the Qibla direction but instead uses a range of directions. It is possible to make an application program for determining the direction of Qibla and others so that it can be used for the general public and is easy to apply. This research helps how to calculate the direction of Qibla and how to make and apply the software of Qibla direction determination using visual basic. The results of this study can be used as a reference in solving various cases of physical analysis in various aspects related to other astronomy.

Abstract

One of the ways to improve the quality of the material is by using the thin layer deposition techniques on the material surface. DC magnetron sputtering is one of the methods frequently used to do so. This method uses plasma to create a thin layer on the material's surface. In this research, flyback circuit is used to generate plasma. This research examines the effects of electrodes’ gap and sputtering process time on the width of marks that appear on the substrate’s surface. The electrodes’ gap varies in range of 1, 2, 3, and 4 cm, whereas the sputtering process time varies in range of 36, 72, 108, 144, and 180 minutes. The substrate used in this research is iron and the coating materials used are aluminium and copper. This research uses plate-shaped electrodes in the coating process. The sputtering process resulted in the appearance of marks on the substrate’s surface. The marks were compared qualitatively with every gap range of electrodes, sputtering process time, and the coating material used. Next, they were categorized into 6 groups according to the thickness of the marks’ layer in order to obtain quantitative data which were then made into graphics. The results of this research show that silver coating material takes the shortest time to coat iron substrate, which is 36 minutes. In 36 minutes, the marks produced by silver coating fall under the group with the highest marks, compared to other coating materials. This research also shows that alteration of the electrodes' gap will affect the voltage of electrodes and the coating’s thickness groups. The further the gap between the electrodes, the higher the electrodes’ voltage and the coating’s thickness groups will be.

Abstract

Hardboard merupakan material komposit dengan salah satu bahan pembentuknya adalah serbuk gergaji. Serbuk gergaji merupakan limbah produk-produk berbahan kayu. Harboard dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pengganti kayu pada produk-produk furniture, meskipun sifat mekaniknya lebih rendah dibandingkan kayu. Namun, apabila Indonesia sudah mengalami krisis kayu, sudah bisa dipastikan produksi hardboard juga akan mengalami krisis bahan baku pula, sehingga perlu dicarikan bahan pengganti serbuk kayu pada pembuatan hardboard. Hardboard dengan bahan pembentuk selain serbuk kayu diharapkan memiliki kesamaan sifat mekaniknya, bahkan sampai melebihinya. Pemanfaatan tempurung kelapa dan serabut kelapa menjadi material teknik senantiasa selalu berkembang guna mendapatkan hasil yang lebih baik lagi. sifat mekanik merupakan respon yang selalu diharapkan lebih baik lagi olehberbagai penelitian. Serbuk tempurung kelapa dicampur dengan serabut kelapa dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi komposit berpenguat campuran, dimana serbuk tempurung kelapa dicampur dengan serabut kelapa pengganti serbuk kayu pada pembuatan hardboard. Dari hasil penelitian, komposit dengan serat serabut kelapa saja memiliki besar impact strength yang paling.
