Abstract

Prepositional phrase is a group of words consisting of a preposition and its object that modify the object. This research focused on prepositional phrase that found on students’ writing made by fifth semester students of English Education Study Program, Tadulako University. The objectives of this research were to identify functions of prepositional phrase occur in the students’ writings and to find out the most dominant prepositional phrase used by the students in their writing. This research used descriptive qualitative design. The subject of this research was 10% of total subject (about 19 students). The subject was chosen by using purposive sampling technique. The data of this research were the sentences contain prepositional phrase in students’ writings. Based on the theory used, the researchers identified the functions of prepositional phrase in the data, and discovered the most dominant function of prepositional phrase. From the analysis, there are two functions of prepositional phrase found in the students’ writings. They are complement and adjunct. If it is adjunct, it can be adjectival adjunct and adverbial adjunct The most dominant function is complement which is 62%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to explore the dynamics of love language and the nature of interpersonal communication in encouraging healthy communication in marriage. The research employed a mixed-methods approach to investigate the love languages of newlywed and long-married couples. The sample used is nonprobability sampling, where the population consists of married individuals. Thus, a purposive sampling strategy was employed. For this reason, 64 married individuals from the Bone area were included in the research, divided into 32 newlyweds and 32 long-married couples, each in the Tanete Riattang Barat sub-district, where three of each marital length willingly participated in an in-depth interview. Descriptive and thematic analysis were the types of analysis employed. The findings revealed several key points. Firstly, there is a wide spectrum of love language expressions. Second, "physical touch" was found to be the primary love language among newlyweds. In contrast, long-married couples expressed love primarily through "acts of service. Third, the research further revealed a significant correlation between the duration of marriage (whether newlyweds or long-married couples) and their primary love language, revealing that the duration of marriage may change the way couples express their feelings. Finally, it is worth noting that the findings were limited by a lack of awareness of the sociolinguistic nature of the research population.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the forms of jargon used by WhatsApp users among students at the Toraja Christian University in Indonesia. This qualitative research relies on data collected from WhatsApp users among students at Toraja Christian University. The data is gathered through (1) reading techniques and (2) note-taking techniques. The results of this research indicate that, in terms of form, the jargon used by WhatsApp users among students at Toraja Christian University consists of four forms: basic word forms, abbreviation forms, phrase forms, and acronym forms.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Peningkatan Kemampuan Menulis Permulaan Melalui Media Teka-Teki Silang Bergambar siswa TK.B TKIT Harith Foundation Usia 5-6 Tahun. Lokasi penelitian dilaksanakan di TKIT Harith Foundation Jalan Mungkasa No. 50 Kota Palopo Provinsi Suilawesi Selatan .Adapun populasi berjumlah 108 anak dan sampel penelitiannya anak kelompok B khususnya di kelas Al Huda yang berjumlah 18 anak dimana terdapat 8 anak laki-laki dan 10 anak perempuan dengan rentang usia antara 5-6 tahun. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan kualitatif dengan model penelitian tindakan menurut Kemmis and Taggart yang berfokus pada kemampuan menulis permulaan anak. Hasil penelitian tentang kemampuan menulis permulaan anak di siklus I memperoleh rata-rata tingkat capaian perkembangan (TCP) skor 9,67 dikategori mulai berkembang. Selanjutnya terlihat di siklus I skor rata-rata tingkat capaian perkembangan (TCP) kemampuan menulis permulaan anak memperoleh skor 30,33 dan diprasiklus skornya 20,66 hal ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan.Sedangkan disiklus II kemampuan menulis permulaan keseluruhan anak sebesar 41,11 dikategori berkembang sesuai harapan. Sehingga di siklus II terjadi peningkatan sebesar 10,78. Sehingga disimpulkan pada akhir siklus II, penelitian dikatakan berhasil karena kriteria keberhasilan sudah tercapai sesuai kesepakatan peneliti bersama kolabolator.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perilaku berbahasa selingkung terhadap pemerolehan leksikon anak usia 18 sampai 22 bulan. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada pemerolehan bahasa pertama anak usia 18 bulan sampai 22 bulan yakni Nizar Balin Ramadan yang diperoleh secara langsung. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain longitudinal/cross-sectional yakni observasional natural dan terkontrol yang dijabarkan secara deskriptif. Hasil peneliti disimpulkan bahwa temuan perilaku berbahasa selingkung anak yakni bahasa daerah dipengaruhi faktor lingkungan sosio-geografis. Dalam hal ini, anak lebih dominan menggunakan leksikon bahasa Indonesia walaupun anak terpengaruh dengan perilaku berbahasa selingkungnya yang menggunakan bahasa daerah dan pembiasaan orang-orang di sekitarnya.
