Abstract

A digital library signifies the rapid development of technology in the library field. With the existence of a digital library, patrons are facilitated in accessing library services without the need to physically visit the library building. The ease of obtaining credible information is a advantage of digital libraries. This necessitates digital libraries to have a good level of usability so that users can satisfactorily utilize the digital library. The aim of this research is to determine the level of usability on the Digital Library of Diponegoro University. This research employs a quantitative research method with a descriptive statistical approach. Data collection techniques are conducted through questionnaires and literature study. Respondent selection in this research uses purposive sampling technique. The respondents in this study amounted to 40 (forty) individuals, consisting of lecturers, educational staff, and active students at Diponegoro University. Data analysis is conducted through several stages as outlined: tabulation, calculation of averages, and drawing conclusions. The research results indicate that the level of success in usability performance on the Digital Library of Diponegoro University can be considered successful. This is demonstrated by all the indicators that measure the usability level on the Digital Library of Diponegoro University, showing a range of average scores for each indicator, all of which are high, ranging from 2.69 to 3.06. The highest average score is obtained by the learnability indicator, which is 3.06, while the lowest average score is obtained by the errors indicator, which is 2.69.

Abstract

Theoretically, libraries are one of the key social instruments created by humans, playing a crucial role in the recording, management, and preservation of knowledge. As such, they are fundamental to the success and advancement of civilizations throughout history. Historical records show that following Indonesia’s War of Independence, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Indonesia (ABRI), particularly the Army, took on various roles across society—economically, socially, politically, and culturally. This continued until the Reform era, during which the Navy and Air Force eventually established their own libraries. From the author’s observations, this development has influenced how information dissemination is carried out by libraries under the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), including how both internal and external stakeholders engage with them. This is the focus of the present study. Through qualitative approach—observation, interviews, and documentation—this research draws upon the analytical framework proposed by Indriyani (2021), which includes: (1) understanding and setting objectives, (2) identifying core messages, (3) understanding the audience, and (4) selecting appropriate media channels. The study finds that each military library has its own approach to information dissemination. When these practices are reflected against Law No. 43 of 2007 concerning Libraries, it is evident that all observed libraries are in compliance with its requirements. One important implication of this study is the potential to enrich the body of research concerning special libraries, particularly those operating in military contexts

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of user education programs at the Library of Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram. User education plays a vital role in enhancing students' information literacy skills and supporting the optimal use of library services. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this research utilized interviews, observations, and document analysis involving librarians and users participating in the user education program. The findings indicate that the implementation of user education at UMMAT Library is primarily conducted in the form of student orientation sessions and is carried out incidentally. The methods used remain conventional, such as lectures and printed brochures, and are not supported by digital learning media. User participation is relatively low, and the program's effectiveness is limited due to the absence of continuity and a lack of institutional policy support. The main obstacles include limited human resources, inadequate training facilities, and the absence of a program evaluation system. This study recommends the integration of user education into the academic curriculum, the development of digital learning modules, the establishment of ongoing training, and cross-unit collaboration within the university to realize a user education program that is adaptive, effective, and relevant to users’ needs.

Abstract

This study explores the main challenges in the digital preservation of library collections and utilises the DCC Curation Lifecycle Model to identify structural weaknesses. Through a literature review method, this study compiles and examines the latest literature discussing technological vulnerabilities, metadata inconsistencies, organisational limitations, legal issues, and the lack of digital curation skills among library staff. The results of the analysis show that format obsolescence, storage media instability, the absence of a comprehensive policy framework, and inadequate professional capacity are factors that consistently hinder the sustainability of digital collections. When mapped using the DCC framework, these obstacles appear in the stages of Preservation Planning, Description and Representation Information, Curate and Preserve, and Access, Use, and Reuse, indicating that preservation issues are systemic and interrelated. This study concludes that digital preservation management needs to be designed as an integrated institutional strategy that includes policy strengthening, competency development, durable infrastructure development, and legal management. In general, the results of the study confirm that digital preservation is an organisational mandate that must be carried out continuously through collaboration.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model konseptual manajemen informasi berbasis kearifan lokal guna mendukung pengembangan koleksi berkelanjutan untuk permukiman berkelanjutan (SDGs 11). Dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi pustaka kualitatif, artikel ini menyintesis literatur teoretis dan empiris dari satu dekade terakhir. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi kearifan lokal ke dalam manajemen informasi memerlukan pergeseran paradigma: kearifan lokal harus direposisi dari objek dokumentasi pasif menjadi landasan epistemologis aktif yang membingkai seluruh siklus hidup informasi. Model yang diusulkan mengadaptasi siklus hidup informasi konvensional menjadi proses siklis enam tahap: perencanaan partisipatif, akuisisi kolaboratif dan etis, organisasi kontekstual, preservasi berkelanjutan, akses inklusif, serta evaluasi dampak dan umpan balik. Model ini menghasilkan Koleksi Berkelanjutan yang didefinisikan melalui tiga dimensi yang saling terkait: keberlanjutan konten (mendukung ketahanan ekologis dan sosial), keberlanjutan proses (pengelolaan yang ramah lingkungan dan partisipatif), dan keberlanjutan dampak (kontribusi terukur terhadap perencanaan permukiman dan ketahanan komunitas). Kajian ini menjembatani kesenjangan teoretis antara manajemen informasi, studi kearifan lokal, dan pembangunan berkelanjutan, serta menawarkan kerangka praktis bagi lembaga informasi untuk berkontribusi secara strategis menuju permukiman yang inklusif, aman, tangguh, dan berkelanjutan. Abstral harus ditulis dengan ringkas dan jelas.

Abstract

Digital libraries have become a strategic component in supporting the transformation of higher education, including at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This study aims to explore user experiences in accessing and utilizing digital library services, particularly in the context of technology integration and user interaction. Using a qualitative exploratory approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 20 students from various academic programs. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify patterns of experience, perceptions, and challenges faced by users. The findings indicate that digital libraries provide ease of access, support for academic tasks, and enhance students' information literacy. However, several obstacles remain, such as limited digital collections, technical issues, and a lack of interactive guidance. These results highlight the importance of strengthening technological infrastructure, improving the quality of digital services, and fostering cross-sector collaboration to optimize the role of digital libraries in the digital transformation of higher education. This study offers both conceptual and practical contributions to the development of more responsive and user-centered library service strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of library anxiety, identify the influencing factors, and formulate relevant mitigation strategies at the Library of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. The research employed a quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach, involving undergraduate students from the 2024 cohort as the study population. The instrument used was the AQAK Library Anxiety Scale V2. The results indicate that the overall level of library anxiety among students falls into the low-anxiety category. However, several dimensions show higher mean scores, categorized as mild anxiety, namely Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT), Library Resources and Services, and Information Literacy. These findings suggest that students still experience anxiety related to the use of digital technology, limited information literacy skills, and difficulties in utilizing library resources. Recommended mitigation strategies include strengthening user education programs, conducting more proactive promotion of library services and resources, and upgrading infrastructure, particularly those related to the use of information and communication technology.

Abstract

This research aims to contribute to increasing knowledge about the importance of diversity in library facilities so that it can be used as a strategy to increase user visits. The research methode uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The research results showed that 71 respondents (60.7%) agreed that the large number of facilities made users interested in visiting and 40 (34.2%) strongly agreed. This means that the diversity of library facilities can be used as a strategy to increase user visits. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan kontribusi pada peningkatan pengetahuan tentang pentingnya keragaman fasilitas perpustakaan sehingga dapat dijadikan sebagai strategi dalam meningkatkan kunjungan pemustaka. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa responden yang setuju dengan banyaknya fasilitas membuat pemustaka tertarik untuk berkunjung yaitu sebanyak 71 orang (60,7%) dan sangat setuju sebanyak 40 (34,2%). Hal ini berarti bahwa keragaman fasilitas perpustakaan dapat dijadikan sebagai strategi untuk meningkatkan kunjungan pemustaka.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze user sentiment on the X (Twitter) regarding the development of Neo Historia’s reading space as a community-based literacy initiative. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a netnographic approach by examining 329 replies from the @neohistooria_id using the keywords “ruang baca” (reading space) and “perpustakaan” (library) during the period between July 2024 – November 2024. The data were analyzed qualitatively through three categories of sentiment (positive, negative, neutral). The findings indicate that positive sentiments include appreciation, support for improving facilities, and user expectations regarding the expansion of the book collection. Negative sentiments are dominated by destructive criticism, skepticism toward management transparency, and negative evaluations of the physical condition of the reading space. Meanwhile, neutral sentiments consist of informational questions, technical comments without emotional expression, and conversations unrelated to the topic discussed. These findings suggest that social media, particularly X, contributes theoretically to the study of public perception in digital spaces and plays a significant role in optimizing communication strategies and the development of reading facilities as part of literacy initiatives.
