Abstract

This study discusses the architectural work of an office named @Batubata, owned by the architectural firm Studio Air Putih. The object was chosen because it won two prestigious awards in the best office category and a lot of media coverage. It's just that there are no studies that discuss the office academically and in detail. So in this study review looking for the main characteristics of the Studio Air Putih office by dissecting and deciphering the building elements using the Archetype understanding of Thomas Thiis Evansen's thoughts. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach where primary data is obtained through observation and interviews. Literature study was conducted to obtain secondary data.

Abstract

With its location in a strategic area of trade, economy, tourism and international industry, Batam City has to become a potential area to develop. For this reason, the city is targeted to be an industrial and trade city. The development of a new area such as the central business district (CBD) is an effort to increase this potential. Batam Central Business District is seen as a multifunctional economic area with residential and recreational facilities that is support by location in Batam Center. The design principles of the Garden City theory can be applied to this area. According to the theory, city development can environmentally and socially be oriented and supports the sustainability of a city and leads to the creation of a green city, apart from industrial development. The Garden City principles can be one of the foundations in developing Batam City's potential to become an economically and socially environmentally friendly region, while still paying attention to the arrangement of green areas, roads and building layouts based on the function of activities. The facilities in Batam CBD are divided into several zones such as commercial, residential, office, and recreation with the addition of public space into its design. Furthermore, by using the Garden City design principles, the design can make it easier for users to carry out activities and appear to be more developed and organized, while also adjusting to the environment and social, to attract the attention of investors in this city.

Abstract

The settlement of the Anak Dalam tribe in Muara Medak - Jambi often experiences flood disasters later in each rainy season. This is the number of hills that have changed from forests to become oil palm plantations which are unable to absorb water. So that in the rainy season, this area which is a shallow swamp often gets runoff from the hills which causes flooding. MAN Insan Cendikia students try to find a home design solution for residents of the Anak Dalam Tribe at Muara Medak through R & D research with the topic: "Mahaban" Alternative Floating Houses in Handling Floods and Building for Tribal Children in the Village of Muaro Medak Jambi. The results of this study were then included in the Youth Scientific Writing competition (LKIR) organized by the Regional Research and Development Agency (Balitbangda) Jambi. To validate the design, the authors help provide assistance and consultation regarding their designs. This research uses a mix-method. After validation, the design needs to be revised. Then the results were made into a prototype and tested. As a result, this design won the Best Journal Award II and the Second Champion Award at the presentation of the work.

Abstract

This study is aimed to describe typologies in building mental rehabilitation rehabilitation centers. Building typology is obtained through analysis based on form and function. Typological analysis is useful as input in the design of buildings, and rehabilitation center. The research method used is descriptive interpretative qualitative, to get the typology after identifying the activities, functions, and shapes of buildings. As a first step of the patient's activity and space are identified first. The conclusions obtained from the typology study of mental disorder rehabilitation center are the physical arrangement of the rehabilitation center mass: (1) multi-mass and scattered; (2) the zone is divided into several, namely the public in the outermost, semi-public for patient activities, and private for therapy and patient rest. From the physical aspect, it refers to the forms of simple facades, openings that are given a trellis or passive, as well as simple rooms and furniture that do not endangering the patient. In the unstable condition of the patient, an isolation room is controlled by the nurse. In a stable condition, patients can learn a variety of plans which are carried out inside or outside the room.

Abstract

Walkability is being a way to assess the environmental quality of walking activities. This study discusses the level of walkability in 6 main road corridors in the Kota Tua Jakarta area using scoring assessment methods on four aspects of the observed Walkability Level namely the level of security and safety, comfort level, the availability factor of pedestrian support facilities, and the quality factor or physical condition of pedestrian facilities the feet. From the results of the assessment, it is linked to the pedestrian preferences in choosing the walking route from the transit mode of transportation (train station and busway stop). With the location of the study on several road corridors in the Kota Tua Jakarta region, Jl. Pintu Besar Utara, Jl. Stasiun Kota, Jl. Lada, Jl. Jembatan Batu, Jl. Great South Door and Jl. Asemka. The results found that the level of walkability of a road does not always affect the user's walking preferences. Although the level of Walkability is high, it is not necessarily a pedestrian preference in the walking route.

Abstract

This study discusses about the transformation of functions with a case study of buildings at Ara Center, located in Gading Serpong, Tangerang. Ara Center was originally designed as an apartment complex. However, during the construction process, two of the pleasant buildings that were designed underwent a process of changing into a hotel and university. The purpose of this study is to find out how the transformation that occurs in buildings that have been designed, both in the spatial system and physical and figural systems. This study also has a purpose to find out how the spatial, physical, and figural patterns that are formed to the current activities. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. The results of this study found that the transformation of functions that occur changes the spatial system in buildings in terms of spatial layout. Whereas in physical and figural systems only a few changes occur.

Abstract

This research examines in detail and academically the characteristics of the Paramount Modern Market, then conducts a post-occupational evaluation on the Paramount Modern Market building comprehensively. The object of study was chosen based on its location in the commercial superblock area, market design evolution, and in Gading Serpong commercial area there was an acceleration of economic growth. This study discusses the analysis of the application of the concept of green city in cluster dwellings in Gading Serpong. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method that is carried out with a case study approach, as well as using inductive post-occupational evaluation techniques. The research found are the characteristics of the spatial, technical, and stylistic systems of the Paramount Market building are already efficient, quite in accordance with established rules, and can support trading activities on the market well and efficiently, and then the post-occupatonal evaluation results state that most of the elements in technical, functional and behavioral approaches are efficient and functioning optimally.

Abstract

The houses in Kampung Cilegong, Mekarwangi Village are still far from the standard of Healthy Homes. Although some were built by artisans with the knowledge of "copy-paste" from cluster housing, there were also some that were built by local governments and offices. A healthy home is a well-designed house, especially looking at the local climate context. Natural lighting and air are the main requirements in designing a healthy home. Therefore, the Architecture Study Program at Matana University tries to carry out PKM activities in the form of training, consultation, and mentoring of several houses in Kampung Cilegong. It is hoped that residents of Kampung Cilegong and the people of Mekarwangi Village will be exposed to the knowledge of the Healthy House and obtain design solutions to set an example. This activity involved students of the 2018 class at Matana University and was integrated with the Building Physics course and the Interior Design Studio. The method of implementation is carried out following the design method. The results of the activity showed a positive response and added insight by the community.

Abstract

The Matana University Lobby was inaugurated in 2019. This lobby aside from being a transitional space from the entrance to other room functions, it also accommodates the activities of every student and other user, which is also equipped to support activities for visitors who want to get information and complete administrative issues. Therefore Lobby must be able to provide comforts for its users, in this case thermal, visual, acoustic, and health. How is the effect of Matana University Lobby design on building comforts: thermal, visual, and acoustic. This study measures user responses, in this case students, regarding Lobby design and its effect on the comforts of the building. The research method used is a quantitative method which is done partially for each dependent variable. The results showed in general the positive effect of Matana University Lobby design on building comforts.
