Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought about significant changes in the field of education, with traditional face-to-face learning transitioning to online instruction, resulting in a one-directional and monotonous learning experience that can lead to feelings of boredom. Boredom, which is an unsatisfactory state, can be counteracted by the positive individual characteristic of mindfulness. This study aims to explore the relationship between mindfulness and boredom in students who are attending online classes. A correlational quantitative approach was used in this study, employing a convenience sampling technique that resulted in a sample size of 346 students, consisting of 73 males and 273 females. Individual mindfulness was measured using the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) (α = 0.859), while boredom was measured using the Multidimensional State Boredom Scale (MSBS) (α = 0.953). The study revealed that there was a significant negative correlation between mindfulness and boredom (r = -0.295; p = 0.001). Furthermore, mindfulness was found to be significantly negatively correlated with four of the five dimensions of boredom, namely disengagement, high arousal, inattention, and low arousal (r = -0.239, r = -0.339, r = -0.321, r = -0.280). These findings suggest that individuals who exhibit higher levels of mindfulness are less likely to experience boredom. Therefore, the study concludes that mindfulness can help individuals regulate their attention and emotions, thereby mitigating the harmful effects of boredom.

Abstract

The role of a teacher encompasses many tasks, which can sometimes diminish the significance of their work and ultimately affect their performance and the quality of education they provide. To enhance the meaningfulness of their work, teachers can engage in job crafting, which involves proactively balancing task demands with available resources. This study aims to explore the correlation between job crafting and work meaningfulness among secondary school teachers in Banda Aceh. The study surveyed 273 secondary school teachers in Banda Aceh who had at least 10 years of work experience, selected through convenience sampling. The study employed quantitative methods with a correlational approach. The findings revealed a positive and significant relationship between job crafting and work meaningfulness. By engaging in job crafting, teachers can customize their work to their preferences and increase their sense of work meaningfulness. This, in turn, can have a positive impact on their performance and the quality of education they provide.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the Phi generation has a reputation for being disloyal employees who quickly leave their jobs. However, this generation is becoming the dominant population in Indonesia and is starting to fill the job market. This phenomenon raises questions for researchers about the psychological resilience or hardiness of this generation. The study surveyed 156 employees born between 1989-2000 who worked in various private and state-owned companies. The DRS-II scale (18 items, α = 0.82) and additional questions were used to collect data. Results showed that 21.2% of participants had very high hardiness, 52.6% had high hardiness, 24.4% had moderate hardiness, and 1.9% had low hardiness. Members of this generation generally did not show any differences in average hardiness in several demographic categories, except for the position level group. The control dimension had the highest mean score, which participants attributed to their strategies for managing time, work, and priorities.

Abstract

Mental health concerns are a significant issue worldwide, and Indonesia is no exception. In Indonesia, approximately 15.5 million teenagers (34.9%) experience mental health problems, with anxiety disorders being the most prevalent. The lack of green spaces in urban areas and high work demands prevent young people from connecting with nature. Furthermore, urban life is practical, and many teenagers prefer indoor activities with technological entertainment, which further reduces their exposure to nature. To investigate the relationship between nature-relatedness and anxiety in the urban young generation, a research study was conducted. The study employed a quantitative-correlational research method and utilized the Nature Relatedness Scale and State-Trait Inventory for Cognitive and Somatic Anxiety (STICSA) to measure the participants. 93 participants met the participant’s criteria and completed the questionnaire, and the data was analyzed using the Product Moment correlation technique. The research findings indicate that there is no correlation between nature-relatedness and anxiety. Researchers speculate that nature-relatedness primarily benefits individuals by increasing positive emotions rather than reducing negative emotional states such as depression. However, urban residents can still enjoy nature through artificial environments, such as visiting green parks and observing sky views. The availability of artificial environments enables urban communities to remain close to nature without experiencing anxiety.

Abstract

When working on their final projects, students often fall prey to academic procrastination. This is when they consciously delay academic tasks due to a lack of self-discipline, which can have negative consequences. To investigate this issue, a study was conducted on students who procrastinated while working on their final projects. The study utilized a research and development approach, with the goal of creating effective self-regulated learning modules to combat academic procrastination. The participants, three students who had worked on their final projects for four semesters, were chosen through purposive sampling. Data was collected through interviews and a procrastination scale. Results showed that all participants had high levels of procrastination, both before and during the completion of their final projects, due to a lack of self-regulated learning skills. To address this, the researchers developed a module based on self-regulated learning theory and data from the participants. The module was evaluated by both participants and experts, and was found to be effective in overcoming academic procrastination while working on final projects.

Abstract

Religiosity is often associated with the good and bad condition of an individual's mental health so a lot of negative stigma arises on mental health issues. This study aims to scientifically prove the relationship between religiosity and mental health. This research method uses a quantitative method with an accidental sampling technique. To measure religiosity, the Muslim Religiosity Scale was used and to measure mental health, the Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale 21 (DASS-21) was used. This study involved 133 participants from 13 provinces in Indonesia with 19.50% male participants and 80.50% female participants. Based on the results of the Paired Sample T-test, the results showed that there was no significant relationship between religiosity and the symptoms of mental health disorder, the correlation of religiosity and depression with r = -0.42; p > 0.05, with anxiety r = -0.29; p > 0.05, and with stress r = -0.36; p > 0.05. Based on the results of the study, we can interpret that the individual mental health aspect does not have a significant relationship with the high or low level of religiosity.

Abstract

Self-regulation in learning is one of the supporting factors for every student to achieve optimal learning outcomes, involved for the college students who receive the Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP-Smart Indonesian Cardi)-Kuliah (College) Program. The Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) questionnaire is one of the questionnaires to measure self-regulation in learning which was developed by Pintrich and De Groot (1990). The questionnaire consists of 81 items. Researchers have adapted it. This research aims to determine the validity and reliability of the questionnaire, besides that, the research aims to analyze the MSLQ as one-dimensional or multidimensional. The analyzed MSLQ instrument used the Rasch Model. Respondents for this research are 1258 students who came from 14 universities spread across 4 cities/districts. The validity test showed that 68 items were valid and 13 items were invalid with a reliability value of 0.95. The results of the one-dimensional test found that the raw variance explained by measure value was 36.7%, close to the expected value of 35.8%, this value is the sufficient category to be said to have one-dimensional. This research concludes that the MSLQ questionnaire is suitable for measuring self-regulation in learning for college students.
