Abstract

Fusarium wilt disease in tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum) is one of the main obstacles causing a decrease in tomato production. Control of this disease generally still relies on the use of chemical fungicides which in the long term can have a negative impact on the environment. Environmentally friendly control efforts need to be developed by biological agents. One product that has the potential to be used is Protaderma, a biofungicide based on Trichoderma sp. which functions to suppress the growth of pathogens and increase plant resistance. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of Protaderma in inhibiting the growth of Fusarium sp., determine the most effective dose, and see its effect on the growth of tomato plant height. Testing was carried out in vitro using the dual culture method and field testing using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications. This treatment included control (without Protaderma) and application of Protaderma with five different doses, namely 5 g, 10 g, 15 g, 20 g and 25 g per plant. The results show that Protaderma is able to inhibit the growth of Fusarium sp. amounted to 60.8%, reduced the incidence of disease from 55.6% to 0% at doses of 20 g and 25 g, and increased plant height to an average of 59.78 cm at a dose of 25 g.

Abstract

Celery plants (Apium graveolens L.) have export value and are included in the important leaf vegetable group. Disturbances caused by plant-disturbing organisms in celery cultivation are still a problem that is always faced by farmers. The pest that is often found infecting celery plants, especially in the Landasan Ulin Utara area, Liang Anggang District, Banjarbaru City, South Kalimantan Province, is the Root Knot Nematode (NPA) (Meloidogyne spp). The symptoms of this NPA attack are very typical, namely the roots become swollen because nematode attacks the root system and disrupts the root tissue. Therefore, before causing greater losses, it needs to be anticipated. Control can be carried out by means of biofumigation, namely using bitter mustard greens waste which comes from the Brassicae family because it contains glucosinolates (GSL) and isothiocyanate compounds (ITS). This research aims to determine whether biofumigants from chopped bitter mustard greens are effective in controlling Meloidogyne spp. on celery plants. This research used a one-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method, namely treatment with 500 Meloidogyne spp eggs. (control/T0) and 4 treatments with chopped bitter mustard greens, namely 500 Meloidogyne spp. + 200 grams of chopped bitter mustard greens (T1) 500 eggs of Meloidogyne spp. + 400 grams of chopped bitter mustard greens (T2) 500 eggs of Meloidogyne spp. + 600 grams of chopped bitter mustard greens (T3) and 500 Meloidogyne spp eggs. + 800 grams of chopped bitter mustard greens (T4). The results of this study show that celery plants treated with T4 can reduce disease severity and the average number of NPA populations. The highest disease severity was found in T0 plants with a percentage of 45.0% and the lowest percentage was in T4 treatment plants at 4.2%. The highest NPA population was also found in T0 plants, namely 428,125 individuals and the lowest population was in T4 plants, amounting to 126,125 individuals.

Abstract

Celery plants (Apium graveolens L.) are horticultural commodities with high economic value. In recent years, one of the main problems in celery cultivation in the Landasan Ulin area, Banjarbaru City, is root knot disease caused by the nematode Meloidogyne spp. Infection with this pathogen causes typical symptoms in the form of chlorosis or yellowing of leaves, stunted growth, stunted plants, wilting, and the formation of knots or swelling on the roots. The use of plant-based pesticides is an important alternative to reduce dependence on chemical pesticides. Basil oil is known to have larvicidal activity through a contact poison mechanism on the surface of the larva's body, thanks to its content of the phenolic compound eugenol which is easily absorbed through the cuticle. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the application of basil leaf powder (Ocimum basilicum L.) in suppressing the nematode population Meloidogyne spp. on celery plants. The experimental design used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and four replications, so that 20 experimental units were obtained, each consisting of three plants. The results showed that the control treatment (K) had an attack rate of 43.34% and was very significantly different compared to other treatments. Administration of 90 g of basil leaf powder was able to reduce the intensity of nematode attacks by up to 5.00%, making it the most effective treatment in controlling Meloidogyne spp.

Abstract

Cacabean weed (Ludwigia sp.) is an invasive weed that disrupts the growth of main crops such as rice and corn. This research aims to assess the effectiveness of kirinyuh leaf extract (Chromolaena odorata L.) as a bioherbicide in suppressing the growth of Ludwigia sp. using concentrations of 25%, 50% and 75%. The research was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and four replications. The results showed that kirinyuh leaf extract had a significant effect on the phytotoxicity of Ludwigia sp., with symptoms of chlorosis, necrosis and tissue death. A concentration of 75% shows the highest effectiveness, equivalent to herbicides containing the active ingredient glyphosate. These findings show the potential of kirinyuh leaf extract as an environmentally friendly bioherbicide.

Abstract

Celery is a vegetable with export value which is widely cultivated in the low to highlands but its production is often reduced due to attacks by root knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.). Control of these pests generally still relies on chemical pesticides which have the potential to pollute the environment, so environmentally friendly alternatives such as vegetable pesticides are needed. This research aims to examine the effectiveness of noni leaf powder (Morinda citrifolia L.) in suppressing nematode attacks on celery. The design used was a completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications, including noni powder doses of 15, 25, 35 and 45 g. The main parameter is the intensity of the nematode attack. The results showed that noni powder was able to reduce the percentage of attacks from 45% in controls to 16.67%, 10.83%, 6.67% and 4.17% as the dose increased.

Abstract

Root knot nematode attack Meloidogyne spp. is one of the main obstacles in cultivating celery (Apium graveolens L.) because it damages the root system and reduces crop yields. The use of botanical pesticides is an environmentally friendly alternative to reduce dependence on nematicides. This research aims to assess the effectiveness of shallot skin powder as a botanical pesticide in suppressing Meloidogyne spp. The experiment used a completely randomized design with five treatments including a control with powder doses (15, 20, 25 and 30 g/polybag) as well as four replications, each of which was inoculated with 500 Meloidogyne spp larvae. Attack intensity was analyzed using ANOVA and 5% BNT test. The results showed that administering shallot skin powder significantly reduced the intensity of attacks; a dose of 30 g produced the lowest attack rate of 3.30% while the control reached 63.30%. The flavonoid, saponin and alkaloid compounds in shallot skin are thought to act as nematicides. Onion skin powder has been proven to be effective and environmentally friendly as an alternative control for Meloidogyne spp. in celery cultivation.

Abstract

Tomatoes are an important horticultural commodity whose production is often disrupted by attacks by plant pests (OPT), especially the aphid Aphis gossypii. This pest damages plants by sucking cell fluids, causing wrinkling of leaves, chlorosis and stunted growth. Prolonged use of synthetic pesticides has the potential to cause problems such as pest resistance and accumulation of chemical residues. This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of saliara leaf solution (Lantana camara L.) as an alternative to vegetable pesticides. Saliara leaves contain bioactive compounds of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins and essential oils which are toxic to insects. The experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with one factor with four solution concentrations (35%, 45%, 50% and 75%) and one control and each with four replications. Parameters observed include pest mortality and attack intensity. The results showed that all solution concentrations were able to increase aphid mortality compared to the control. A 35% concentration produces the highest mortality, namely 100%, followed by a 75% concentration of 97.5% with a mechanism of action through contact and residue. The 75% and 50% treatments were also the most effective in suppressing attack intensity which remained below 1.5% until the third day, while the control increased to 8.68%.

Abstract

Analysis of transmission, resistance of chili varieties (Capsicum spp) and genetic identification of DNA isolates resulting from PepYLCIV inoculation with whitefly insects in Southeast Sulawesi. Disease PepYLCIV (twin virus) is a cause of disease in chili plants that can lead to crop failure. The objectives of this study were to examine the effectiveness and damage to chili plants due to PepYLCIV infection through whitefly insect transmission, to examine the resistance reactions of several chili varieties to PepYLCIV disease, and to genetically identify the DNA of PepYLCIV symptoms resulting from transmission by whitefly insect vectors. The study was conducted in (screen house) resistant to whitefly insects. The method used is a Randomized Block Design (RAK), the treatment in the transmission test is K0 = No inoculation of vector insects (control); K1 = Inoculation of one vector insect; K3 = Inoculation of three vector insects; K5 = Inoculation of five vector insects and the treatment in the resistance test of chili varieties, namely V1: Cayenne pepper variety Sret, V2: Curly chili variety Lado F1 and V3: Large chili variety Pilar F1 and each was given 5 whitefly insects from the propagation. Genetic identification of DNA PepYLCIV isolates resulting from transmission using PCR techniques. The results showed that 3 whitefly insects had effectively transmitted and caused damage to chili plants aged 3 MSI, but one insect could already cause symptoms; Cayenne pepper variety Sreet has a higher level of resistance compared to large red chili varieties Pil F1 and curly chili varieties Lado F1 and the isolate resulting from transmission and resistance was positively infected with PepYLCIV with a DNA fragment size of 580 bp

Abstract

Rice storage for long periods often faces pest problems, one of which is Sitophilus oryzae L., which causes weight loss, contamination by insects, and a decrease in the nutritional quality of rice. To overcome this, the use of vegetable pesticides is an environmentally friendly alternative. Botanical pesticides are natural compounds that come from plants and can act as repellents, attractants, antifertility and have toxic effects on pests. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of stems and chopped citronella (Cymbopogon nardus) in controlling S. oryzae during rice storage. The design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with eight treatments and three replications. The results showed that the Z5 treatment gave the highest mortality of 14.00%, while the control (KO) only had 3.33%. The highest percentage of damage occurred in KO (59.33%) and the lowest in Z2 (13.00%). The highest population of S. oryzae was found in KO (87.00) and the lowest in Z5 (28.00), indicating the effectiveness of this treatment. It can be concluded that the provision of citronella stems and chopped citronella can significantly reduce the population, mortality and damage to rice caused by Sitophilus oryzae during 40 days of storage.

Abstract

Leaf fall disease is one of the main problems in rubber plant cultivation (Brazilian rubber tree) which can significantly reduce latex productivity. This study aims to observe the intensity of leaf fall disease attacks on rubber plants treated with organic fertilizer plus Trichoderma, Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR), and eco-enzymes. Observations were conducted three times in the rubber plantation owned by PT. Bridgestone Kalimantan Plantation (BSKP), using a visual assessment method for disease symptoms and calculating the percentage of infected leaves. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively to determine disease progression trends. The results showed that the application of organic fertilizer plus PGPR was able to suppress disease attacks by 74.50%. followed by other treatments: application of organic fertilizer plus Trichoderma, control plants without application, and organic fertilizer plus Trichoderma supplemented with eco-enzyme, with percentages of attack suppression of 68.97%, 68.83%, and 66.83%, respectively. Air humidity and daily rainfall factors showed a positive correlation with increasing attack intensity. These findings demonstrate the importance of environmentally friendly disease control strategies. This research is expected to form the basis for more effective and sustainable management of leaf fall disease.
