Abstract

In planning a building construction, one of the aspects that must be considered is the characteristics of the soil where the building will be erected, which will play a role in supporting the structure. The foundation is a part of construction engineering that functions as a medium for channeling the load of the superstructure to the subsoil beneath it. Types of foundations are generally divided into two categories, namely, shallow foundations and deep foundations. A shallow foundation is chosen if the characteristics of the soil right under the building are categorized as hard soil.In general, in the Banjarbaru area, a shallow foundation system is considered sufficient to support the construction of buildings due to the characteristics of the soil in Banjarbaru which is dominated by grainy soil types such as sand. So in planning the foundation of a building construction, it is expected to be sufficient if using a shallow foundation type.In terms of soil texture, in the Banjarbaru area, there are 3 (three) soil textures namely, fine, medium, and coarse. Most of the central region has a soil texture that tends to be smooth, while a small portion in the south has a coarse soil texture. Keywords: Building construction, Soil characteristics, Shallow foundation.

Abstract

Scheduling issues in construction projects are often the main cause of delays and cost overruns. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of applying 4D Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the scheduling of the Student Dormitory Building Project at the Christian University of Palangka Raya (UNKRIP). The method integrates a 3D model from Autodesk Revit, scheduling data from Microsoft Project, and time-based simulation using Autodesk Navisworks Manage. Labor productivity data were obtained from a similar reference project to calculate activity durations more realistically based on field conditions. The results show that the application of 4D BIM reduced the project duration from the initial plan of 133 days to 116 days. Visualization of the work sequence through the time-based simulation feature in Navisworks Manage facilitates the identification of activity dependencies, work conflicts, and dynamic progress monitoring. Thus, 4D BIM has proven effective in improving scheduling accuracy and supporting more precise, data-driven decision-making in construction project management. Abstract

Asphalt is a primary material used in road construction, and improving pavement quality requires environmentally friendly alternative materials. Areca husk ash, which contains high levels of cellulose and silica, has the potential to enhance asphalt mixture performance. This study was conducted to determine the effect of using areca husk ash as a filler substitute in AC-WC mixtures. The Marshall test method was applied with filler substitution variations of areca husk ash to stone dust at 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%, as well as asphalt content ranging from 4.5% to 6.5%. The test results showed that all mixture variations were still within the limits of the 2024 Bina Marga specifications. The optimum asphalt content (OAC) tended to decrease as the proportion of areca husk ash increased, with the highest value obtained at 20% substitution (6%). Thus, areca husk ash can serve as a partial filler substitute without reducing AC-WC quality, although its use should be limited to maintain the stability and performance of the mixture in accordance with technical standards. Keywords: AC-WC, areca palm fiber, asphalt, Marshall characteristics

Abstract

The Pianggu-Lalap Road Reconstruction Project in Awang District, East Barito Regency, is a district road project by the PUPR Office. Initially, scheduling only used the S-curve without considering the relationship between activities, which caused delays. This research reconstructs the schedule using the Precedence Diagram Method (PDM) through the stages of WBS, duration determination, activity linkage analysis, and scheduling with Microsoft Project 2019. The results are displayed in Gantt Chart and Network Diagram, with a total duration of 142 days, from July 4 to November 19, 2024 Keywords: Scheduling, Precedence Diagram Method (PDM), Microsoft Project 2019

Abstract

Seismic-resistant building design is essential in regions like South Kalimantan, which are prone to earthquakes and dominated by soft soil conditions. The Eccentrically Braced Frame (EBF) system offers an effective structural solution due to its high stiffness and ductility through controlled plastic deformation in the link element. However, the performance of this system is highly influenced by the link length and the placement of the bracing. This study aims to optimize the link length and the placement of eccentric bracing to improve the structural performance of a 12-story steel building under seismic loading. Numerical simulations were conducted using SAP2000 software by applying several EBF configurations to evaluate structural responses such as drift ratio, base shear, and element capacity checks based on SNI 1726:2019 and AISC 341-16 standards. The results show that variations in link length and bracing placement significantly affect structural behavior. Models utilizing short links and strategically placed bracing demonstrated lower drift and higher base shear values compared to structures without EBF. Therefore, optimizing EBF components proves to enhance both the resilience and efficiency of high-rise steel building design in seismic zones. Abstract

The soft soil found in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, has a low bearing capacity and tends to magnify the effects of earthquake-induced vibrations. This condition requires the planning of building structures that are able to withstand lateral forces adequately. One structural system that is often used to increase stiffness and lateral stability is a shear wall. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the building structure in response to earthquake force, both with and without shear wall elements. Modeling is done using Tekla Structure Designer software, response parameters in the form of inter-story Deviation (drift) and base shear force (base shear). The analysis shows that the use of shear walls without openings provides more optimal results in resisting earthquake loads. Structures with this element show lower drift values, more stable shear forces, and shorter vibration periods compared to structures without shear walls.
