Abstract

The development of the new concept of documentation is growing so rapidly, breaking the conventional definition of documents that only rely on written texts and printed forms. One development of the concept of document is the oral document developed by Deborah Turner. This study aims to examine the concept of oral document in terms of the concept of the new concept of documentation in the neo Documentum movement. The research method used in this research is qualitative research method with data collection technique through a literature study. The results of this study indicate that the oral document is highly relevant to the development of document definitions in neo-documentary movements that not only focus on the physical form. Documents are more viewed from their function as information providers which provide evidence in various forms so that speech and body language are also included in the concept of documentation.

Abstract

Data libraries have been widely known in Europe and America. The fact that these libraries have been optimized for upporting research makes it significant for Indonesia to initiate the development data libraries. However, Indonesian language literature on this specific type of library is still very limited. Although some of data library aspects have been considerably implemented, the author has not found any data library exist in Indonesia. Therefore, this paper is aimed at defining a representative data library by looking at the University of Toronto Map and Digital Library, as one of data libraries, and observing its facilities. The author will attempt to make a basic observation and description in regard. It is expected that the results will be useful as a reference for developing data libraries in Indonesia.

Abstract

In 2008, the National Library of Australia initiated an ambitious project to create a "national discovery system" that connects all libraries in Australia. The project, called 'Trove', was launched in 2009 after being released in beta format for 6 months. Trove not only replaces the 8 collection service systems, but also provides a new experience to the public and researchers in and outside Australia by opening access to more extensive and varied contents. This paper discussed the background of the emergence of Trove, how the architecture of information technology systems is, content coverage, and what suggestions to further development of Trove are like.

Abstract

Goverment research institution have one of function, that is sharing their research result to the public so that they can be easily, cheaply and quickly used in order to improve the nation’s competitiveness and economic growth rate of a nation. This article aimed to find out how the govermnet institutionin the scope of LPNK Ristekdikti upload their information to the public through Youtube media. This article shows: 1. The total videos uploaded 2. The number of video uploaded every year 3. The most-viewed video 4. The most-liked video 5. The longest video. The study was carriedout using descriptive analysis method, the source of the data was from videos uploaded on Youtube from January 2016 to July 30, 2018, with keywords: LIPI, LAPAN, BPPT, BAPETEN, BATAN, and processed using Microsoft Excel. The result showed that the total of videos uploaded by 6 institution is 349 videos, with the uploaded year details are as follows: 113 videos in 2016, 135 videos in 2017, 101 videos in 2018. The most-viewed videos is : Keanekaragaman hayati” (Biodiversity) by LIPI that has reached 96, 165 views. The most-viewed like videos is “ Apa itu Big Data” (What is Big Data) by LIPI with 1,800 Likes, a video tittled “Heboh kiamat 23 september 2017, apa analisa LAPAN?” (Doomsday Judgment on September 23, 2017, what is LAPAN’s analysis?) by LAPAn becomes the most-disliked video with 25 dislike and the most commented video with 52 comments. The longest video is a live streaming show by LIPI about ecosystems that is 4 hours, 11 minutes, and 29 seconds long.

Abstract

This study dscusses curative preservation of paper-based archives; focusing on how curative preservation activities begin from preparation, implementation, to evaluation. The studyis focused on the restoration of conventional archives with manual system method in National Archives of Indonesia. The methodology used was case study. The study started from observation, continued with in-depth interview at National Archives of Indonesia. The results of the study were divided into three parts: preparation of conventional archive restoration activities, implementation of conventional archive restoration activities and evaluation of conventional archive restoration activities. The preparation of conventional archive restoration activities consists of preparation of tools and materials of archive restoration. The implementation of conventional archive restoration activities consists of numeration, recheck, cleaning, deacidification, lamination as archive repair using Japanese or local tissue paper, sizing using methyl cellulose, drying, astralon plastic release, cutting, pressing and reordering. The evaluation of conventional archive restoration activities controls the result of the archive restoration quality in the form of a ser es of tests on the archives both physically and chemically.

Abstract

This study sought to find the contribution of the journal published by the State University of  Malang (SUM) as a scientific communication media to enhance the use of primary literature among graduate and undergraduate students of SUM. Theory used to describe the mechanism of the correlational concept was model use and gratification theory which emphasizes on how the journal published by SUM meets both personal and social needs in achieving certain goals. This study used descriptive method. Data was gathered through observations, interviews, and questionnaires carried out to 30 patrons who used serial and selected information services in SUM library. The patrons consisted of 18 undergraduate students and 12 graduate students. Results showed that in general the journal has contributed to meet the needs of the patrons in primary literature. It was also discovered that the SUM journal has not been published regularly.

Abstract

The Ministry o Education and Culture Library s a special library  as a deposit center that performs the fungtions of  collecting and storing all publications form and about its parent institution. Until 2016, the Ministry of Education an Culture had not yet devoleped a systematically integrated and managed information/database system of internal collection so as to dissaminete public information to the public. The development program that can be carried out so as to build and integrsted information/database system of internal collection is the development of institutional  repository. The development of this institusi  institusional repository aims to collect, store, manage, preserve and dissaminete the institution’s internal publications. Institution’s public documents as well as intellectual properties and researches, all in electronik form, produced bay the ministry human resources, as a unit within the  institution, has a reponsibility an plays a key role in building  this institutional repository. Library is a unit that performs teh functians of collecting, storing, managing, perserving and dissamminating institution’s  intellectual properties. Librarians will properly  manage the development  of the institutional repository are as follows : 1) Library data in the ministry has been updated using  the ministry library directory application. A total of 96 libraries within the ministry have submitted their data to the library directory application; 2) The types of internal collections within the Ministry have been mapped and become material in preparation of the institutional repository policy of the ministry; 3) The institutional repository policy of the Ministry has been prepared and is expected to be a guide for parties involved in the operational activities of institutional repository; 4) The institutional repository of the Ministry has been instaled and can be accessed on the website http://repository.perpustakaan.kemdikbud.go.id: 5) The form letters of printed and Recorded Works (Publications) Handover Obligation of the Ministry; 6) The web research engine which is integrated between institutional repository and library automation system can be accessed throught the Ministry page at http://perpustakaan.kemdikbud.go.id

Abstract

Paper fragility has always been aproblem for libraries and archives. Along with the development of science, efforts have been done in order to preserve paper-based materials in libraries. One of certain ways in preserving such materials is by reducing the acid level of paper known as deacidification. Deacidifcation process is done by combining certain chemicals which is the applied to paper through sprays or submersion. The method can be carried outfor separated sheets or pages or bulk documents without having to detach pages from  binding. The latter is known as mass deacidifcation. By conducting a mass eacidifcation, attempts to save  library materials can be done comprehensively to allow the materials to bepreserved for the next  1OO or 500 years.

Abstract

Archiving or preservation is the process and work in order to physically protect archives against damage or elements of damage and to conduct restroration of damage archive part caused by both internal (intrinsic) factors of the archive itself and external factors. The archival preservation in intitutions is important for their long-term concerns because it can prevert more serve damage, loss of material and information.The purpose of archival preservation is to preserve their sustainability and to extend their life of use so that it can last longer and can be more useful. Therefore, there is an effort to convert files like the effort to digitize archives to keep them in electronic from to save space and to make the maintenance easy since there are many important archives that regrettably are in bad condition.

Abstract

This research was conducted in PGRI Library of Palembang, the purpose of this research is to know the influence of promotion to library utilization and also to know promotion activity and library utilization activity in PGRI Palembang University Library, this research is expected to be useful for all reading community or for researcher , And beneficial to University of Palembang PGRI librarian, as well as for other researchers. In this study, the main problem is 1). How is the library promotion activities at the Library of Teachers' Union University of Indonesia (PGRI) Palembang? 2). What are the activities of library utilization in the Library of Teachers' Union of the Republic of Indonesia (PGRI) of Palembang? 3) .Is there any influence of promotion on library utilization in Palembang University Teachers Association (PGRI) Library Palembang? The type of research used by researchers is quantitative and supported by qualitative data. Quantitative data in question is the relationship between promotion with library utilization. Analysis of data used is to use product moment correlation statistics. From result of hypothesis test, there is a significant influence between promotion with library utilization by student, on calculation with product moment correlation obtained  alue equal to 0,819 while table with N = 31 at significant/eve/  R5% and R1% (0,202 0,819 0,148). The result shows that the better promotion available in the library, the higher the interest of visit and the utilization of the library by the students.
