Abstract

This study is aimed at mapping the development of agricultural research in Indonesia. The study was conducted in May 2016 by searching through Scopus database using agricultural and Indonesia keywords. Data was analyzed descriptively by year of publication, names and countries of institutions, journal names, authors’ productivity, and research subjects. To map the development of the research, data was exported to Comma Separated Values (CSV) format. The exported data was analyzed by using VOSViewer to figure out bibliometrical mapping of agricultural research in Indonesia. Results showed that the number of agricultural research indexed in Scopus during 1995 to 2015 was increasing significantly with the most number found in the Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies. The Agricultural Institute of Bogor has the most number of articles indexed in Scopus. The most productive foreign authors with the most number of articles on agricultural research in Indonesia is Tscharntke. Local authors with the most articles are Parikesit and Buchori. The most frequent countries involved in collaborative research on Indonesian agriculture are the US, Australia, and Japan. Agricultural and Biological Sciences are the most frequent subjects. Network visualization showed that the development of agricultural research in Indonesia can be grouped into three clusters: first cluster with 149 topics, second cluster with 105 topics, and third cluster with 48 topics.

Abstract

The digital library which become the basic pillar of information needs in all countriesis solidly built. Because of strong ideology in its software. With an open source-based, it is interesting to study digital library applications applied in two collages from different countries. This study aimed to analyze Greenstone and Ganesha Digital Library (GDL) by using observation approaches to determine the comparison of system applications, (2) metadata and interoperability, and (3) the number of languages (user interface) provided. The result showed that Greenstone continues evolving with the latest version released in 2016, while GDL has it last feature in 2014. The compatible application types associated with greenstone look different from GDL, except for the browser system. Until the latest version, Greenstone has better interoperability than GDL shown by a numberof metadata that can interact. Viewing from the user interface, Greenstone offers broaders multilingual featurescompared to GDL. Consequently, GDL needs to improve its application performance so as to be widely used by the international public. In Indonesia, however, GDL has to deal with various software applications that are widely used by national information agencies.

Abstract

To play an active role in increasing  the contribution  of knowledge  management  to society, a research on oil and gas needs access towell reputed scientific journal resources. However such resources are still difficult to find.  This condition has forced  researchers to find their own way in searching for information  they need. In order to support the research activities and reduce financial dependence, a disclosure on the availability of open access journals  has been done by evaluating a scientific journal reference namely the Scientific  Contribution Oil and Gas of 2010-2014. A descriptive study is used to find  out type of access, characteristics and data base. The results show that there are 492 articles used by researchers as their primary  reference. Most of these articles are accessible online and more than a half have open visibility. Morover; Scopus articles that are accessible for free  reach almost a half of the total population.  Open access journals  are likely to befound in database with .net domain and five years recentness. However, there are only few open access with DOI. The study also shows that articles written in Indonesian language are bigger in number than English articles. Open access journal articles are mostly made available by collaboration. Malaysia has shown its consistency in making the articles completely free.  Research  Gate as an alternative source plays  a potential  role in providing  Scopus reputable open access article. Moreover, researchers' awareness in making their own articles free for access through their affiliated database is believed to be one iffactors that will reduce the dependence on journal  subscriptions.
