Abstract

Background: Indonesia's elderly population is increasing with increasing life expectancy. Changes in mental health that usually becomes a problem in the elderly is depression. Depression in the elderly need to be addressed, one with creative therapy. Creative types of therapy that can influence the elderly depression is like Brain Gym and elderly gymnastics. These activities can be carried out in the elderly in the community with ease because it is their neighborhood health center and also does not require music.Purpose: This study was conducted to determine differences in the effect of brain gym and gymnastics elderly to depression in elderly Posyandu Elderly Patent Canyons, Rejowinangun North, Central Magelang, Magelang CityMethod: The approach in this study is quantitative research design with two non-equivalent group pretest posttest design. The sampling technique used is saturated samples involving all the elderly who experience depression as a sample with 56 elderly measured by GDS 15-Items. The intervention is done 2 times a week for 1 month with a time of 30 minutes.Results: The results showed that there were no differences influence of Brain Gym and exercise the elderly to depression in the elderly due to results obtained Mann Whitney test p value 0.051 (p 0.05).Conclusion: No difference elderly Brain Gym and exercise for depression in the elderly, but these activities can be applied to the activity of the elderly in reducing and preventing depression in the elderly due to the activity can lower GDS scores 15-Items.

Abstract

Background: Infancy is a golden period as well as a critical period of development. It is said to be a critical period because at this time the baby is very sensitive to the environment and is said to be a golden period because the time is very short and cannot be repeated again. Stimulation in infancy is very necessary to stimulate growth and development. Baby massage is an activity carried out by parents or caregivers of the baby as an act of stimulating the growth and development of the baby Purpose : The aim of the study is to determine the effect of baby massage on infants’ weight aged 0-6 months in working area of Cibeureum Public Health Center in Tasikmalaya Method: Pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design approach was applied. Total respondents were 29 infants, obtained using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with the Spearman correlation test. Results: The results showed, the p-value was 0.05 which was considered as more than α (0,000). It can be stated that Null hypotheses were accepted, there was no effect onof baby massage on infants’ weight. Conclusions: This study did not support the effect of baby massage towards babies’ weight. However, baby massage is remain suggested in order to improve emotional relationship between the parent and the baby. Future studies need to be conducted regarding baby massage combined with other treatment that might help infants’ growth

Abstract

Background: Family planning is an effort to regulate the birth of children, distance, and the ideal age for giving birth, regulating pregnancy, through promotion, protection, and assistance by reproductive rights to create a quality family. Efforts to health education about contraception can increase knowledge that can influence the attitudes and motivations that exist in someone to take action in choosing a contraceptive method. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education on the level of knowledge and motivation in the use of MKJP in women of childbearing age. Methods: This research was conducted in Wuwuharjo Village, Kajoran District, Magelang Regency. This study uses One Group Pretest and Postest correlation analysis with a crossectional approach and sampling using the Systematic Random Sampling method. The respondents used were 80 people. Data collection was done by questionnaire instruments and data were analyzed bivariate by testing Marginal Homogeneity and McNemar. Result: The results of the study show that there is an influence between health education on the level of knowledge and motivation in using MKJP in women of childbearing age. This can be seen from the significance value produced 0.1. Conclusion: The recommendation for further research is about the routine of health education by using media that are appropriate to the needs of educational routines that increase the knowledge and motivation of women of reproductive age couples in contraceptive use.

Abstract

Background: One of the causes of puerperal infection can start from the perineal wound which is not treated properly. The management of perineal wounds can be done pharmacologically and non-pharmacologically. One of non-pharmacological management is by using breastmilk as a topical agent because it contains anti-inflammatory molecules, bioactive substances and growth factors which are very useful for wound healing and prevent infection. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of breastmilk topical of perineal wound healing on 1-7 days of postpartum mother in Mangkubumi Health Center of Tasikmalaya. Methods: This research was a Static Group Comparison design with the pre-experimental approach. The population in this study was 70 mothers who gave birth in December 2018 - February 2019 in Mangkubumi Health Center. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling and obtained as many as 60 people. Results: The results showed a good wound healing process can be seen in the intervention group at the end of the assessment as many as 66.7% and 33.3% showed insufficient wound healing. Different from the control group that showed 36.7% of good wound healing and 63.3% showed insufficient wound healing. Chi-square test showed a significant difference with ρ-value (0.039) α (0.05). Conclusion: The Effect of breastmilk topical of perineal wound healing on 1-7 days of postpartum mothers was evidenced. This study can be a reference for knowledge improvement in subsequent research.

Abstract

Background: During the first trimester of pregnancy prenatal care, detection and prevention of complications need to be done so that it can be addressed immediately. In preventing pregnancy complications, midwives are expected to act as facilitators and can build persuasive communication. One strategy of midwives in building persuasive communication is by providing health education.Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education by snakes and ladders game toward knowledge level about complications prevention among high risk pregnant women at first trimester.Methods: This research was conducted in the working area of Kedu Community Health Center-Temanggung Regency. The study was Pre Experimental design with One Group Pretest Posttest. The population was pregnant women at high risk of first trimester. Saturated sampling was done, leading to 34 respondents. Wilcoxon test was applied with p0.05.Results : The test resulted in p value of 0.000 ( 0.05). It meant that health education by using snakes and ladders game influenced the knowledge level about complications prevention among high risk pregnant women at first trimester.Conclusion: It can be infered that knowledge level about complications prevention was influenced by health education by using snakes and ladders game. Snakes and ladders game can be chosen as a way of health education that can increase the activity of participants.

Abstract

Background: Supplementation of vitamin A for postpartum mothers is needed to increase the amount of vitamin A in breast milk. Babies who suck the breast milk that contains enough vitamin A will be more immune and rarely suffered from  infectious diseases.  Purpose: The study aimed to determine the association of vitamin A consumption in postpartum mothers with adequacy of breast milk. Methods: This study is  an analytical survey  with cross-sectional design approach, condected within the work area of Mungkid Community Health Center, Magelang Regency with total sampling. The sample were 40 respondents. The data was retrieved by using a checklist observation sheet. Result: Statistical analysis with Spearman Rank test, obtained   p-value of 0.000 so that 0.05, which means there was a significant relationship between consumption of vitamin A in postpartum mothers with adequate breastfeeding.  Concluslion: Consumption of vitamin A in postpartum  mothers correlated  with breast milk adequacy. Midwives are expected to provide health care and health education, regarding vitamin A for postpartum women, and give 2 capsules of vitamin A to  the mother after delivery. Postpartum mothers are suggested to obtain and consume 2 capsules of vitamin A after giving birth, because the benefits are many, especially with the adequacy of breast milk.

Abstract

Background. Stimulations are important in the golden period (age 0-3). Children who receive directional stimulation will develop more quickly than children who have less or no stimulation.Purpose. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the implementation of stimulations by parents and the development of toddlers aged 24-36 months in Bungursari Village.Methods. This research was an observational quantitative research with cross-sectional approach. The populations were mothers and toddlers aged 24-36 months as many as 92 respondents. The sampling technique was simple random sampling, with a total sample of 42 respondents.Results. The results showed that the largest percentage in the implementation of gross motor stimulation, fine motor skills, speech and language skills, social skills and independence by parents were in the frequent category, the largest percentage of toddler development aged 24-36 months according to the appropriate category. Spearman rank statistical test results obtained rho value of 0.417 with p value of 0.006, where p value was less than α (0.006 0.05), this showed that there was a positive relationship between the implementation of stimulations by parents on the development of toddler.Conclusion. There was a relationship between the implementation of stimulations by parents and the development of the toddlers. It is suggested to involve parents in conducting stimulation and development screening in order to improve their growth and development.

Abstract

Background: The estimated accuracy of birth weight is a key element in early labor. The accurate fetal weight prediction method is an act of preventive to overcome the complications that are expected to reduce morbidity and mortality in childbirth. Purpose: To determine the comparison of the estimated accuracy fetal weight between the Johnson Toshach formula and Dare formula against the baby's birth weight. Method: This study is an analytic survey with a cross-sectional in Labour Room and Perinatology of Dr.Soekardjo hospitals in January and February 2019. The sample in this study using purposive sampling totally 96 respondents. Data analysis was performed by univariate and bivariate using paired t-test, independent t-test. Results: There is no difference in fetal weight estimation between Johnson Toshach formula and Dare formula with the birth weight (ρ value> 0.1). The results of the diagnostic test for Johnson Toshach formula provides the accuracy (87.5%) and the Dare formula (91.7%). Conclusion:Dare formula is more accurate in determining the estimated fetal weight compared to Johnson Toshach formula.
