Abstract

The aim of this research were to review the state of rice industry over the past 15 years (2003-2017) based on the demand and supply situation in East Nusa Tenggara. The development of the price of rice, the factors that influence the demand and supply, and determine the policy impact of rice demand and supply in East Nusa Tenggara Province. This research uses the econometric model, that is a simultant structural equation, which was indentified by the order condition and it was approaches using Two Stage Least Square (2SLS). The data used in this research was the time series of secondary data during 15 years period from 2003-2017 that was provided by Central Startics Office, the National Logistics Authority, the NTT Agricultural Bureau and other publications related to this investigation. The analysis showed that the amount of rice production was really depended on harvest area, rice consumption, rice supply and rice production in the previous year. The retail price of rice was responded to the price of corn and the demand for rice in the long term, while in the short term it only responded to the price of corn. The amount of rice consumption responded to rice production, rice prices and rice demand. Rice imports reacted to rice production, rice prices, corn prices and rice consumption in the long run. Based on the results of the research, it was suggested that the area of irrigation needs to be extended,in each region of East Nusa tenggara Province, particularly technical irrigation in order to increase the rice production, and it es neededto do diversification programs in order to reduce dependency rice. The weakness of this research was it used the inpure simultan model.

Abstract

Research about the determining of allocative and technical efficiency level of sweet corn farming in East Kupang Sub District aims to find out the effect of the use of production factors toward sweet corn production; to analyze the level of allocative efficiency of its use; and to analyze the level of production technical efficiency of sweet corn. The research location was chosen by purposive sampling with the consideration that Oesao village and Pukdale are villages where produce sweet corn in East Kupang Sub District. The sample of research respondents was taken by simple random sampling with 79 respondents consisting of 35 farmers from Oesao village and 44 farmers from Pukdale village. The collect of data had been carried out as long as February to March 2020. The reseach results showed that the factors of land, seed, and urea production significantly affected the production of sweet corn, while the factors of NPK, pesticides and labor production had no significant effect. The level of efficiency can be reached through allocate production inputs precisely. In this case, by reducing the use of land and urea fertilizer, on the other hand, by adding the use of seeds. Also, the farmer production level technically is not efficient yet with the average of actual production level is 10,408 grains or around 1,487 kg, while the average frontier production level is 28,146.64 grains or around 4,021 kg. Abstract

The Research with respect to determine the priority problem faced by farmers in tomato cultivation at Oematnunu Village, West Kupang Sub-District, the District of Kupang, had been conducted for five months in 2019. Objectives of this researeh are:1) to indentify characteristics of tomato cultivation applied by farmers at Oematnunu Village, West Kupang Sub-District, Kupang District; 2) to determine the priority problem faced by farmers in the cultivation of tomato crops at Oematnunu Village, West Kupang Sub-District, the District of Kupang. The research was carried out by the use of a survey method. The research location was determined purposively. In determining 43 farmers as the sample of this research, it was applied proportional random sampling from the population of 74 farmers cultivating tomato crops. To answer objective 1, data were analyzed by the use of quantitative descriptive statistics namely mean value and frequency, while to answer objective 2, data were analized by the use of guide according to McCaslin and Tibesinda cited by Hungawuwali (2016) The procedures of this guide are: (a) finding out the mean value of importance and ability score in the application of each aspect of tomato cultivation, (b) finding out the overall mean value of importance and ability score of tomato cultivation aspect, and (c) making a matrix of 2X2 which is formed by X axis and Y and straight line which is drawn through coordinate point and parallel with X axis and Y. Results of research indicated that : 1) characteristics of tomato cultivation technique applied by farmers in the research location was not in good category; and 2) the priority of problems faced by farmer in tomato cultivation at Oematnunu Village, West Kupang Sub-District, the District of Kupang is tomato cropps are attacked by disease and pest, meanwhile farmer’s ability in the application of eradication technique of disease and pest attacking tomato crops is in low level, while the level of importance in this technique is high level.

Abstract

This research has been carried out in the Oeba Traditional Market and Naikoten Traditional Inpres market in October to November 2017. The aim is to find out: (1) Purchase Volume of Mustard Consumer; (2) the preferred type of mustard; (3) identify the factors that influence the demand of mustard consumers; (4) Mustard Sales Volume. The method used in this research is survey. Determination of the location of research carried out by purposive sampling. Respondents were determined as many as 120 people. The type of data collected is primary data and secondary data. To answer the first and fourth objectives, the data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively, answering the second goal using a Likert scale and the third objective of the data analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that; (1) Of the 5 types of mustard the lowest purchase volume is dominated by curly mustard, namely the frequency of purchases per week 1-2 times with a volume of 1 kg - 2 kg. (2) The results of the study of 60 respondents, namely: 30 respondents in traditional traditional markets in Naikoten and 30 respondents in traditional Oeba markets, there are 3 types of mustard which are included in the Average category, namely curly mustard greens, and white mustard, and 2 types of mustard which are included in Like categories namely: mustard huma, and mustard caisim. (3) together - all factors significantly influence the demand for mustard greens shown by the F-count (14.895)> F-table (2.54) is significant at α = 5%. While the results shown by t-count which significantly influence α = 5% are Consumer Taste, and Holidays / Holidays. While the price of mustard greens, other vegetable prices, consumer income, the number of family members, the volume of mustard greens prepared by traders does not significantly affect the demand for mustard. (4) The lowest sales volume of mustard is dominated by Curly mustard, that is 9 respondents or 5% who sell with a volume of 22 - 42Kg / week
