Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of junior high school students. The research method employed was an experimental design with pre-test and post-test control group. The students were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group illustrating the comparison between the experimental and control groups before and after the treatment. An instrument for testing mathematical problem-solving abilities was used to collect data before and after the treatment. The results of data analysis showed a significant improvement in mathematical problem-solving abilities in the experimental group after the implementation of the CPS learning model. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Creative Problem Solving learning model effectively enhances the mathematical problem-solving abilities of junior high school students. These findings have positive implications for the development of the mathematics curriculum in junior high schools by emphasizing the importance of integrating learning models that encourage creativity and analytical thinking. Additionally, the results of this research can serve as a foundation for educators and policymakers in designing more innovative teaching strategies to enhance the quality of mathematics education at the junior high school level.

Abstract

Problem solving abilities can help students to improve their analytical power and help them to apply mathematics to various situations. Students who have good intentions in learning tend to be more diligent and tenacious in understanding and solving mathematical problems, even difficult mathematical problems. This is related to the affective aspect of students, namely self-efficacy. This research uses a qualitative approach and data collection techniques are carried out through filling out self-efficacy questionnaires, problem solving ability tests, and interviews. The results of this research are that students with a high level of self-efficacy have a fairly high level of problem solving ability even though not all indicators have been met, students with low and medium levels of self-efficacy have a low level of problem solving ability with only one or two indicators being met fulfilled.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the level of effectiveness of a model, namely discovery learning in mathematics learning, on students' mathematical understanding. This research had research subjects consisting of 18 class X SMA Budi Bakti 2 Cianjur students. Carried out using mixed methods, the instruments used were also created to measure quantitative as well as qualitative data. The data analysis used was hypothesis testing with a one-sample t test carried out on students' posttest scores. Apart from the t test, correlation and regression tests were also carried out on students' interest in learning and mathematical understanding. From the research conducted, the use of the discovery learning model is effective for application in mathematics learning in terms of mathematical understanding. The use of the discovery learning model has proven to be effective because students' mathematical understanding can exceed the KKM score. Interest in learning has a correlation with students' mathematical understanding, therefore interest in learning also has a regression towards mathematical understanding with a relatively high level of regression or a dominant influence.

Abstract

This study sought to ascertain whether students' comprehension of mathematical topics had increased as a result of using Discovery Learning with GeoGebra. This study employed a mixed model with a convergent parallel design. 58 eighth-graders from SMP Negeri 5 Purwakarta served as the subjects. Two groups of students were created: an experimental group and a control group. Pretests, posttests, and student response surveys were used to gather data. The Mann-Whitney test, normality, and N-Gain were used to assess the data. According to the data, both groups improved in the moderate category; nevertheless, the experimental class's average N-Gain (0.51) was higher than the control class's (0.38). The Mann-Whitney test findings showed a significant difference (sig. 0.004 < 0.05). Thus, the GeoGebra-assisted discovery learning model enhances conceptual mathematical knowledge more effectively than conventional learning. Furthermore, learning that encourages active participation in discovering ideas is well-received by students.

Abstract

However, the current body of research is dominated by linear approaches that possess a limited capacity to uncover how various factors interact in complex ways. This study aims to address this need through a Systematic Literature Review. The methodology followed the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, involving a systematic search of the Scopus and Google Scholar databases, which resulted in 40 core studies for final synthesis. The findings reveal that student-internal psychological and affective variables are the most dominant focus of current research. Methodologically, the field heavily relies on quantitative approaches, particularly Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The most significant finding is a consistent research gap regarding the lack of understanding of the complex, configurational interactions among multiple factors, as most studies employ linear-based analyses. This review concludes that there is an urgent need for research using configurational approaches, such as fs/QCA, to uncover the multiple causal pathways to mathematics achievement. The primary contribution of this study is the presentation of a critical framework that offers a configurational perspective as an alternative to linear models for a more holistic understanding of student success.
