Abstract

Four shaped models of delivery valve had been investigated and compared to improve performance of a hydraulic ram. Hydraulic ram pumps have been constructed and operated. Most of them built locally using steel pipe fittings that commercially accessible in the market rather than factory-made one. These have assisted inhabitants in rural or hilly area where water sources available for water supply services or irrigations. However, the major problem challenged by the public was on designing and repairing of the impulse and delivery valves of the pumps. Performance of the pumps are affected predominantly by the both valves. One characteristic of the valves is their shape. Considered on the characteristics of the fluid flow through surface of plate and sphere object are different on the pattern and losses. Therefore, investigation is necessitated to find a proper shape of the delivery valve for enhancing the performance of the pump. In this research four valve models were experimented to assess the hydraulic ram pump performance on varies delivery heads. The results show that the sphere model of the delivery valve offered the best efficiency, then followed by the membrane, the half-sphere and the flat delivery valve models. However, the rounded model: sphere and half-sphere delivery valve model were facing obstructions in implementation for a high delivery head.

Abstract

Abstract. The development of a city cannot be separated from how its people view a city. People who understand how the culture of the city will give a strong identity and character to the city. Over time, there are differences in how people perceive elements of the city, one of which is the catuspatha. Catuspatha is no longer interpreted as empty space but began to get additional functions as aesthetic and elemental elements of city landmarks (landmarks). There are several meanings arising from the physical aspects and socio-cultural aspects of a catuspatha as a landmark of the City of Semarapura. This research focuses on Catuspatha Semarapura City in terms of physical and socio-cultural aspects. The data search was carried out by means of litelature studies, field observations and interviews with people who were active in and around Semarapura City. By using a qualitative descriptive method, this research results that the Semarapura catuspatha in terms of physical size has different criteria with its environment so that it is physically prominent, unique, easy to remember, easily recognizable, has historical and aesthetic value. From the socio-cultural aspects of the area around the Semarapura catuspatha also functions as a node, in which at this location a variety of activities are held mainly related to social and cultural activities such as Tawur Kesanga, Ngulapin, Nebusin, Ngelawang, and other activities including Ogoh-ogoh parade activities, various festivals and folk parties and also cultural marches. Keyword: catuspatha, identity, landmarks, physical, social culture.

Abstract

The Indonesian Language Sign System (SIBI) is a medium used by deaf people to communicate with the wider community. SIBI is Indonesian that is presented by hand. The sentence structure (morphology) of SIBI is the same as the Indonesian language, SIBI also recognizes the prefix, principal and suffix sign word. This research discusses how to make stemming for SIBI, the algorithm used for stemming is Nazief Adiri. Stemming for SIBI separates input sentences, words through the Text Processing process. Then the word in Stemming so that it can be separated into prefix, main, and suffix words. After stemming, the words obtained in indexing can find the right SIBI, by using ID. Good stemming must pay attention to Indonesian Morphology. The number of words used for this stemming trial is 50 words. By using the Confusion Matrix method found 0.94% accuracy, 93% recall, and 84% precision.
