Abstract

The current world condition where the availability of energy especially non-renewable energy is running low, we are required to be able to use available energy efficiently and as economically as possible. Amid the not yet socialized use of alternative energy, these demands are mandatory. One key to saving energy is the use of electrical energy to meet the needs of lighting and air conditioning. Some ways that can be done to save energy are through the management of utility systems, user behavior and consistency of knowledge related to energy-efficient buildings. Some of the principles used in energy-efficient development are minimizing fuel, adjusting to the surrounding climate conditions, using appropriate materials, while still providing comfort to the user. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method focusing on efforts to minimize energy use in buildings.

Abstract

Resilience is a newer and more complex form of the word sustainability where resilience emphasizes not only continuity, but also the ability of the architecture to bounce back after facing destructive disturbances. The development of the modern market monopolized private sectors, has flourished in most areas of Indonesia. It grows massively and almost takes over the existence of traditional markets where is filled most of the small medium entrepreneurs or traders. The contrast distinction in physical and management between the traditional and modern markets, are one of the factors creating the gap. However, physical improvements of market buildings done by the government through revitalization program have yet to create significant impact. Then a new strategy is needed to increase the competitiveness and decrease the gap, in this case there is a tourist market. The development of the traditional Anyar Sari market to be a creative tourist destination for local and foreign tourists are expected to increase competitiveness. Applying tropical architecture, minimalist or modern style, and considering the elements of tradition can create attractiveness of this market building. And moreover, the concept of creative tourism can add value and the quality of tourism destination for end-users not only to buy tourism product but also the experience. Through this new development of the iconic market along with creating other tourism spots and tracks inside the region can raise the economy of the local community.

Abstract

Abstract

The benefits of using wood as a building material have long been felt. In recent times wood has developed into an architectural and aesthetic material, including as the secondary skin building. The wood fiber structure and durability as well as the ability of wood to maintain thermal conditions in the building it houses are one of the factors that strengthen the choice of wood. This research aims to find out the concept of using wood to fulfill its function as a secondary skin building, what factors should be taken into account in strengthening its function and aesthetics and whether there are other materials that can be used along with the advantages and disadvantages of each material. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach which focuses on problems based on conditions in the field. The data in this research was obtained through observation, interviews with related parties and also literature studies on similar research. The research results found that the use of wood as secondary building must fulfill the concept of function, namely as a filter for heat, light intensity and noise. An aesthetic concept that improves the visual quality of the building but still provides comfort for users, in harmony with the environment and the concept of efficiency both in economic value and maintenance.

Abstract

Traditional Balinese architecture is very closely related to culture and religion of Hindu in Bali. Traditional Balinese architecture is also inseparable from the philosophies or concepts contained. The Balinese architecture can be divided into several types of buildings, namely, buildings of Pura (holy places) and buildings of Puri (houses/housing). Traditional Balinese housing consists of several buildings that have different functions, building form, and layouts. Buildings in traditional Balinese housing are, bale meten/bale daja, bale dangin/bale adat, bale dauh, paon/kitchen, jineng/klumpu, and merajan/sanggah (holy place). Bale Daja/Bale Meten is the first building built in traditional Balinese housing. The study of the characteristics of bale meten was carried out with the aim of knowing the characteristics and development process of bale meten sakutus buildings in terms of layout in a housing area, building functions, building form, and materials used. The results of this study will also add references about bale meten especially bale meten sakutus so that it can preserve the values contained. The research approach used in this study is based on descriptive qualitative research methods with a naturalistic approach. This research method is used to describe the facts that occur in the field related to the condition of bale meten in the case study, the functions of buildings, building form, layout and the development process. This study uses three case studies of bale meten sakutus in the Gianyar and Badung regions. This is due to the lack of the existence of bale meten sakutus buildings in other areas.
