Abstract

The background of this research is that in the past, the increasing trend of mountain climbing in Indonesia has reportedly raised environmental problems, especially regarding the tremendous volume of rubbish left behind mountain climbers.  Plastic waste threatens the Indonesia tourism industry in mountain areas. The government stated that the continuously increasing plastic waste threatens to ruin Indonesia's tourism sector. The mineral water industry is one of the government's primary focuses in its plastic waste reduction. As Indonesia's largest plastic-bottled mineral water brand, Aqua is pledging to remove more plastic from the environment than it uses by 2025. The purpose of the research is to get a descriptive analysis of how the company can manage its stakeholder engagement for reducing plastic waste in Indonesia. This research employed a qualitative narrative analysis method with a case study around Aqua’s efforts for reducing plastic waste in Indonesia and data collected from digital media. The principal results of the research show that Aqua made good collaboration between the Trashbag Community Indonesia, The Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and media journalists on the program “Sapujagad 2017" by removing 5 tons of rubbish from Indonesia's mountains. In conclusion, a successful company must do stakeholder engagement and corporate social responsibility activities for supporting sustainable tourism development in Indonesia.

Abstract

Children’s use of digital media is associated with risky experiences, a situation warranting parental mediation. Previous studies on parental mediation of children’s digital media use, conducted in advanced countries in Europe, America and Asia with rich experiences of children’s digital media use, examined only specific risks and rarely focused on effectiveness of the mediation strategies adopted. The present study investigated parental mediation of children’s risky experiences with digital media in an African setting, focused on four categories of risks and measured the effectiveness of adopted mediation strategies. Objectives of the study were to identify the mediation strategies parents applied in mediating risks (conduct, content, contact and commercial) encountered by children in the use of digital media, and ascertain the consequences of the mediation strategies. The study, a survey, used a sample of 265 parents drawn from a population 863 academic and non-academic staff members of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State, Nigeria. Parental Knowledge and Intervention in Children’s Risky Experiences with Digital Media Questionnaire (PKICREDMQ), designed by the researchers, and successfully scaled through validity and reliability tests, was used to generate data. Findings revealed that the parents adopted mainly two mediation strategies – restrictive and active

Abstract

In the past, new mothers were able to consult with their mothers about parenting and health issues. When they are married, many of them live not at home with their mothers. When they need information about childcare and health problems, they switch to using online information sources (Facebook, Instagram, the Health page, and WhatsApp group). This study explores how new mothers in Surabaya use online platforms to search for helpful information related to health during pandemic COVID-19. This study used a qualitative virtual ethnographic method by collecting data through interviews, FGDs, and participating in several online media platforms, including Facebook group Room for Children; id.theAsianparent.com; Instagram account @ruangmom, @kenapaharusvaksin, @obesitas, and WhatsApp “Kulwapp” group. The results reveal that new mothers prefer to enroll in Facebook private groups and only women members with open identities. While on Instagram, they prefer to communicate through questions and answer forums. The Health page that is the primary reference is id.theAsianparent.com. Meanwhile, involvement in the Kulwapp WhatsApp group is for convenience and safety to discuss issues surrounding sexual organs. The shifting information-seeking of new mothers to online platforms because of more theoretical and medically-based health information and experiences need.

Abstract

Kata kunci: guru, pendidik, profesi, dan aktor sosialAbstractBeing teacher means having double status namely professionals and educators. However, both of status are not only based on didaktic-methodical competence. There are social expectation coming from the society to be ideal people. Thus, professional teachers are not solely oriented to get a job and a decent income, but also has a soul and human consciousness. Although there are lot of training to improve the teaching profession in the various departments of education, most of them are meaningless. This is due to the way of teachers’ thought which is materislistic. Therefore, the meaning of the teacher as the workers should be shifted in position as social actors who always engage in mutual dialogue with the social reality to formulate solutions toward issue of education. Keywords: teacher, educator, profession, social actor

Abstract

The world of media and information, from the time internet became popular, has been in constant rapid changes to such an extent that older models of conventional media system are being challenged if not replaced. One of the changes being experienced in the contemporary media environment is the use of computer codes or algorithms to perform gatekeeping functions that used to be done solely by human agents. This paper reviews the state and challenges of media regulations and the use of algorithms in Nigerian media system. The review showed a gap in media regulation in Nigeria where journalism is compartmentalised in contrast to media convergence and that algorithmic-based journalism may not be effectively regulated. To close this gap, the study used risk-based analysis as a theoretical framework and library research as method to design a framework for algorithmic media governance in the country. The result is the Converged Media Governance Framework for Algorithmic and Mixed Journalism. The framework reconceptualizes the way and manner media regulation is framed and organised as involving only human agents and alsothat journalism in the country should not be compartmentalised in the light of media convergence. The paper recommended the adoption of the framework by stakeholders in the Nigerian media system.

Abstract

Rights and obligations in the Regional Government cooperation agreement with Swata can be seen from the balance of contract, the balance itself is the principle that requires both parties to fulfill and implement the agreement. This balance is important to build equality for the parties involved in relation to rights and obligations. However, interpreting this equality is still difficult. Both parties have their own interests. This study uses a qualitative method with an interpretive approach, where through this approach there is an emphasis to see one text relation with another text. Based on this approach, to illustrate the text in the policy of between cooperation regional government and the sector private in BOT contact, it can be done using the signifiying order and three-dimensional analysis triggered by Danesi and Perron. Understanding the rights and obligations of BOT contracts is seen as a reality both social and legal. This reality as a balancing ground operates a private cooperation agreement. Through the relationship between text as rights and texts as an obligation, it will be illustrated if the roles of the parties in private cooperation with the local government are mutually aware of their respective duties and functions.
