Abstract

Tree height measurement is one part of the inventory activity of standing trees before logging which requires a relatively long time and quite expensive costs, so it needs to use a more productive measuring instrument. There are several commonly used tree height measuring instruments, including the clinometer and hagameter. This study aim is to determine the working time of measuring tree height with clinometer and hagameter. The research method used was to determine the sample tree randomly, then measured the height of each tree with the clinometer and hagameter.  In addition,  it also calculates the length of time the measurement of the height of each instrument by recording the start and finish time of each measurement activity carried out. The results showed that measuring the height of a tree using clinometer takes 0.68 minutes per tree in average, and using a stick meter aid takes  1.18 minutes in average, and by using haga with a scale board aids takes 0.88 minutes per tree in average. Thus the measurement of tree height by using a clinometer is faster than using haga, while measuring the height of a tree using a hagameter with a scale board is faster than a meter.

Abstract

Production of Pine sap is one of the main sources of income of Perum Perhutani. Therefore, its sustainability becomes very important and should give economic benefit to the tappers. The purpose of this study is to examine the amount of income obtained by sap tappers their household livelihood strategies. The results showed that the average of tappers income from this activity was between Rp 1.224.000- Rp 1.620.000. Factors affecting tappers income and tapping results are: 1) tapping ability, 2) amount of time and workday, 3) tapping period 4) number of trees able to be tapped per day, 5) land conditions, and 6) weather and season factors. Sap tapping was not the main source of income for respondents because their main occupations are majority farmers and breeders. They left tapping activity and back to farming activity during the rainy season, when the production of sap decreased.Keywords: sap, tappers, income, strategy

Abstract

This study aims to determine the physical and mechanical characteristics of wood lamina combination of sengon wood and merbau with Melamine Urea Formaldehyde (MUF) adhesive. The testing method used is based on the DIN standard. The test results of the average lamina density of 0.58-0.73 g / cm3 at oven drying moisture content. Modulus of Elasticity (MoE), Modulus of Rupture (MoR) and value of compression parallel to grain highest found in the combination of merbau-sengon-merbau-sengon-merbau and the lowest in the combination of sengon-merbau-sengon. While the adhesive shear strength is the highest value in the combination treatment of merbau-merbau and the lowest in the combination of sengon-sengon. Based on the modulus of elasticity (MoE) of sengon treatment as face / back and merbau as core (3 and 5 layers) can be classified into strong class IV-V, merbau as face / back and sengon as core (3 and 5 layers) can be classified into strong class II-III. Modulus of Rupture (MoR) can be classified into strong class II-III and compression parallel to grain into strong class II.

Abstract

This study aims to estimate the volume of commercial trees at PT. Limbang Ganeca based on Stratified Random Sampling carried out on the RKL VII area of the HPH with an area of 16,101 hectares with a forested area of 15,215 hectares. The area of the study area is 76.08 hectares which is divided into strata based on the slope class and stand density. Based on the results of stratification of topographic maps and vegetation maps, there is a combination of slope I class, slope II class, slope class III and three forest stratum with a combination of 9 forest strata. From this combination the diameter at breast height is measured to assess the volume of the tree.Based on the results of data analysis, slope class factors can be used in estimating volume, while stand density and interaction factors for these two factors cannot be used in estimating tree volume. From the results of measuring the diameter at breast height and calculating tree volume, the average volume of the area was 109,9898 m3 / hectare or around 108,309 to 111,487 m3 / hectare. While the overall volume of the RKL VII area ranges from 1,647,950,462 to 1,696,304,584 m3.

Abstract

Saat ini perkembangan teknologi penginderaan jauh sudah memasuki kemajuan yang signifikan. Penginderaan jauh telah menghasilkan berbagai pemanfaatan salah satunya adalah dalam pengklasifikasian penutupan lahan. Tree Algorithm merupakan salah satu metode klasifikasi digital yang dapat digunakan dalam mengklasifikasikan piksel pada kelas-kelas klasifikasi penutupan lahan. Peneltian ini bertujuan untuk mengklasifikasikan penutupan lahan pada citra satelit sentinel-2A dengan menggunakan metode tree algorithm serta mengetahui tingkat ketelitian pada metode tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan pada citra satelit sentinel-2A dengan membuat tree algoritm yang akan digunakan pada decision tree sebagai pemisah tiap kelas penutupan lahan. Salah satu parameter algoritma yang digunakan dalam menentukan pemisahan kelas adalah NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index). Selain menggunakan NDVI, dalam membuat algoritma pemisahan kelas juga digunakan kombinasi perhitungan nilai-nilai piksel pada band-band citra satelit sentinel-2A. Dari hasil klasifikasi diperoleh 6 Kelas penutupan lahan, yaitu Awan seluas 6,99 Ha (0,16%), Air seluas 7,59 Ha (0,18%), Ladang seluas 2,75 Ha (0,06%), Lahan Terbangun seluas 4,33 Ha (0,10%), Berhutan Sedang seluas 3.258,82 Ha (76,38%) dan Berhutan Rapat seluas 985,99 Ha (23,11%). Hasil uji nilai Overall Accuracy metode Tree Algorithm dengan pengecekan lapangan didapat tingkat akurasi 60% dari 15 titik sampel.

Abstract

Pembukaan hutan alam untuk kepentingan pembangunan Sawit tentu akan memberikan dampak yang buruk kepada sebagian besar keanekaragaman hayati yang ada.  Namun demikian bilamana tetap disiapkan areal bervegetasi alami disekitar kawasan, maka peluang kehilangan jenis keanekaragaman hayati termasuk jenis-jenis burung yang ada akan dapat ditekan dan dikurangi.  Masih ditemukan sebanyak 84 jenis burung yang teridentifikasi melalui aktifitas penangkapan, pengamatan dengan teropong, mendengar dan lainnya.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara hutan tropis yang luas, maka tak heran negara ini menjadi negara megabiodiversitas. Jamur tiram merupakan salah satu hasil kekayaan alam Indonesia yang memiliki potensi sebagai tanaman kesehatan dan obat. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memunculkan potensi aktivitas antioksidan pada jamur tiram yang banyak dibudidaya di Kalimantan Timur khususnya Samarinda. Sampel kami ambil dari rumah jamur borneo dan penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Kimia Hasil Hutan, Fakultas Kehutanan, Universitas Mulawarman. Metode ekstraksi bertingkat menggunakan n-heksan, etil asetat, dan etanol. Metode antioksidan yang digunakan adalah penangkal radikal bebas (DPPH) dengan masing-masing tiga kali pengulangan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi pada ekstrak air dengan nilai penghambatan 25% pada kosentrasi 100 ppm. Pada ekstrak heksan merupakan hambatan terkecil dengan nilai penghambatan 2,41% pada kosentrasi 25ppm.
