Abstract

Selecting a major in Senior High School significantly shapes students’ academic paths and future careers. However, the current process often lacks objectivity, relying on subjective teacher consultations and academic data without standardized analysis. This study addresses this gap by developing a decision support system using the Decision Tree algorithm to assist students at Al-Istiqomah High School in choosing between science and social science majors, based on academic performance and non-academic factors like attitudes and attendance. The study follows the CRISP-DM methodology, which includes six stages: business understanding, data understanding, data preparation, modeling, evaluation, and deployment. Academic records from 123 students were used to build the model. The Decision Tree algorithm identified mathematics, biology, and physics scores as key predictors for major classification. The model demonstrated high predictive performance, with 96% accuracy, 100% precision, and 95% recall. Additionally, an Area Under the Curve (AUC) of 97% confirmed the model’s robust ability to distinguish between science and social science tracks. This system was implemented as a user-friendly web application using Streamlit, enabling students and educators to input data and receive immediate major predictions. By offering objective, data-driven recommendations, the system helps students make more informed decisions about their academic futures and provides educators with targeted, evidence-based advice. These results highlight the Decision Tree algorithm as an effective, efficient, and practical tool for enhancing the academic advising process and supporting students in selecting the major that best fits their strengths and interests.

Abstract

The tourism industry is a key economic sector in Indonesia, with East Java ranking highest in tourist visits. This study aims to enhance tourism development by applying aspect-based sentiment analysis (ABSA) using convolutional neural networks (CNN) to analyze online reviews. CNN was selected for this study due to its proven efficiency in capturing local n-gram features and its relatively lower computational cost compared to other deep learning model. Reviews from TripAdvisor and Google Maps were collected focusing on four aspects: attraction, amenities, access, and price. Five different models were developed in this research: one multilabel aspect classifier designed to identify multiple aspects mentioned within each review, and four sentiment classifiers focused on evaluating the sentiment polarity for each specific aspect. These models were trained and evaluated using various combinations of word embeddings, including static embeddings like Word2Vec, and contextualized embeddings such as BERT and IndoBERT. Additionally, the impact of preprocessing through stemming was investigated to understand how simplifying word forms affects model performance. Results indicate that IndoBERT-CNN attains the best overall sentiment classification, reaching F1-scores up to 0.71 for attraction and 0.93 for amenities, while Word2Vec-CNN with stemming leads multilabel classification. Meanwhile stemming improves performance for static embeddings like Word2Vec by simplifying word forms, it reduces effectiveness in transformer-based models like BERT and IndoBERT that rely on natural language context. These findings highlight the benefit of choosing appropriate embeddings and preprocessing for different tasks, thus providing practical insights for improving tourism services through better tourist reviews analysis.

Abstract

The development of Information Technology (IT) has brought various conveniences in organizational operations, but also introduced significant security risks. One of the most critical areas of concern is access control, where weaknesses can lead to unauthorized access and data breaches. While absolute security is difficult to achieve, structured governance frameworks are essential to minimize vulnerabilities. ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is an international standard that provides guidelines for managing information security risks, while the OCTAVE (Operationally Critical Threat, Asset, and Vulnerability Evaluation) method supports in-depth, organization-specific risk assessments. This study aims to enhance access control governance at PT. XYZ, an IT-based company, by integrating ISO 27001:2013 controls with the OCTAVE methodology. Risk evaluation is performed through the CIA (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability) triad, based on internal knowledge collected via interviews with operational teams. The OCTAVE method identifies key assets, assesses threat probabilities, and evaluates business impacts, which are then mapped to appropriate ISO 27001 Annex 9 controls. The implementation resulted in several critical access control mechanisms, including User Access Management, Network and Service Access Restrictions, Privileged Access Management, and Password Security Policies. This combined framework enables PT. XYZ to address specific risk exposures more effectively and to ensure compliance with international standards. The integration of ISO 27001:2013 and OCTAVE provides a practical, risk-based model for access control governance that is adaptable to organizational context and resource constraints. The study offers a replicable reference for similar IT organizations seeking to strengthen their information security posture.

Abstract

The Population and Civil Registration Office of Sidoarjo Regency is a government agency that implements performance-based management, focusing its activities on service excellence and utilizing information technology in its services such as the Population Administration Information System (SIAK) and "Plavon". However, there are problems that hinder progress include low public awareness in updating population data, insufficient staff based on Permenpan standards, and the focus on technology-based service innovations. To address these, employees are key in community education and supporting priority programs. This research aims to evaluate the level of IT resource management capability at Disdukcapil Sidoarjo using the COBIT 5 framework, focusing on EDM04 (Ensure Resource Optimisation) and APO07 (Manage Human Resources). The methods used based on the COBIT 5 Assessment Process. Both EDM04 and APO07 processes achieved Level 1 Performed Process with "Largely Achieved" status. EDM04 scored 72% overall (69% Base Practices, 75% Work Products), while APO07 scored 64.4% overall (53.7% Base Practices, 75% Work Products). The final results of both scores fall into the "Largely Achieved" category. There is a capability gap between the current condition (as is) and target expectations (to be) of four levels in the EDM04 process and one level in the APO07 process, so improvement recommendations are provided to achieve the expected level. This research provides an overview of current conditions and improvement recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of IT resource management at Disdukcapil Sidoarjo.

Abstract

The development of information technology plays a major role in supporting the decision-making process, one of which is through the development of a Decision Support System (DSS). DSS is needed in the world of education, especially in Vocational High Schools, which prioritize the development of vocational skills to prepare students for the world of work. One of the important programs in Vocational High School is Field Work Practice, which provides students with direct work experience in industry. However, the placement process of Field Work Practice students at Wipama Vocational High School is still done manually without the support of a structured system, so there is often a mismatch between student competencies and industry needs. To overcome these problems, this research develops a DSS by combining the Rank Order Centroid (ROC) and Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) methods. ROC serves to determine the weights of five selection criteria, namely interview scores, vocational practices, academic scores, attitudes, and discipline. While the SAW method serves to calculate the value of student preferences based on these weights. This research was conducted on 10 students from the Light Vehicle Engineering (TKR) major. The results show that the system makes the selection process more efficient and selective than the manual method, and is able to recommend Field Work Practice placement in accordance with student competencies. It is hoped that this system can be an effective solution in supporting student placements.

Abstract

E-Peken Surabaya is a web–mobile platform initiated by the Surabaya City Government to empower local economic actors, including MSMEs, food stalls (SWK), and local stores. Since its implementation in 2023, users have reported usability issues, highlighting the need for an evaluative study on service quality. This research adopts a descriptive-quantitative method using purposive sampling, with a total of 385 respondents selected based on active usage. Data collection employed a modified WebQual 4.0 questionnaire integrated with additional variables such as Reliability, Trust, Citizen Support, and Efficiency to capture comprehensive user perceptions. Data were analyzed using SPSS, with Pearson’s r for validity and Cronbach’s Alpha for reliability testing. Using Importance Performance Analysis (IPA), eight indicators were identified in Quadrant I (High Importance Low Performance), which require immediate strategic intervention. These include interface responsiveness (UI/UX), completeness and clarity of product information, accessibility of communication channels, consistency in system maintenance, and assurances in data privacy and security. These areas demonstrated significant negative gaps between perceived importance and performance, suggesting that user satisfaction is being compromised in core service aspects. The integration of WebQual 4.0 and IPA proves effective in isolating service components most in need of reform. As a strategic response, the study recommends incremental improvement planning, periodic performance audits, and scalable solutions to optimize user experience and enhance platform reliability.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has greatly expanded investment platforms, especially in the stock and mutual fund sectors. The Ajaib application facilitates easy mobile investing while offering tools and educational resources to help users understand financial markets. This study examines the factors influencing the adoption of Ajaib, utilizing the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) model. A quantitative approach using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to analyze data from 400 active Ajaib users. The results reveal that Performance Expectancy, hedonic motivation, price value, social influence, and enabling conditions positively affect adoption. However, Trust and Effort Expectancy were found to have no significant impact on adoption decisions. This suggests that users prioritize the app's performance, social influence, and user experience over trust or ease of use. The study was conducted in Indonesia's fintech market, focusing on the behaviors of Indonesian users. While the findings provide valuable insights into adoption in emerging markets, their generalizability may be limited by socio-economic or cultural differences. Future research should examine demographic factors such as income, age, and education to better understand adoption patterns in various contexts.
