Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the 10 leading causes of death in the world. TB treatment that requires regularity over a long period of time has an impact on decreasing motivation for treatment in TB patients, this decrease in motivation can cause boredom which results in incomplete TB treatment. One of the external factors that can increase motivation for treatment is support from health personnel and family. This study aims to determine relationship between support from health personnel and family with treatment’s motivation in Pulmonary TB patients. Methods: This quantitative study uses a correlation analysis design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study was 70 Pulmonary TB patients who were taken using the total sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a valid and reliable questionnaire to measuring health personnel’s support and family also treatment’s motivation. Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman Rank test. Results: A total of 44 patients (62.9%) felt good support from health personnel, 51 patients (72.9%) felt good family support, and 44 patients (62.9%) had high treatment’s motivation. There was a significant relationship between health personnel’s support (p = 0.001; r = 0.344) and family’s support (p = 0.0001; r = 0.497) with treatment’s motivation. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between health personnel’s support and family with treatment’s motivation for pulmonary TB patients. Health personnels can visit families' homes to provide support to increase patient motivation. Keywords: Family, Health Personnel, Motivation, Support, Tuberculosis

Abstract

ABSTRACT   Introduction: Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) patients need to have strong effort, desire, and belief in themselves to complete anti-tuberculosis drug (ATD) therapy. A preliminary study conducted on 30 patients observed that there were 12 patients (40%) with a history of incomplete ATD therapy due to non-adherence. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and medication adherence in pulmonary TB patients. Methods: This quantitative study used a correlational analysis method with a cross-sectional approach. The collected sample of 60 TB patients used a total sampling technique. Self-efficacy was measured using The General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE) and adherence to taking ATD was measured using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scales-8 (MMAS-8). The analysis was performed using the Spearman Rank test. Results: A total of 40 patients (66.7%) had moderate level of self-efficacy, and 27 patients (45%) had high level of medication adherence. There was a significant relationship between self-efficacy and adherence to taking ATD with a significance value of <0.001 and a level of closeness of 0.695. Conclusion: The relationship between self-efficacy and adherence to taking ATD is a strong and unidirectional relationship. Families are expected to provide support to improve the self-efficacy of pulmonary TB patients, such as giving confidence to patients to be able to complete TB treatment. Abstract

Introduction: Bed rest patients are at high risk of developing decubitus ulcers, which can increase morbidity and mortality. Mobilization every two hours is primary prevention, but is often overlooked due to nurses' workload. The Matras Mob was developed to facilitate optimal patient mobilization. This study analyzed the effect of the Matras Mob intervention on the risk of developing decubitus ulcers in ICU patients. Methods: Using a pre-experimental one-group pre-posttest design, this study involved 33 respondents with total sampling. Data was collected using the Braden Scale before and three days after the intervention, then analyzed with the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. Results: Results showed a significant difference in decubitus ulcer risk before and after the intervention (p = 0.000). Before the intervention, the majority of patients were at very high risk, while afterward the risk decreased to high and low. Conclusion: Matras Mob is effective in reducing the risk of decubitus ulcers and is recommended as an innovation in the prevention of decubitus ulcers in bed rest patients in the ICU. Abstract

Introduction: Development is the increase in the ability (skill) of the structure and function of the child's body which is more complex as a result of the body maturation process. Children of this age are expected to have mastered several skills that require fine motor skills. The aims of this study was to analyze the effect of playdough therapy on fine motor development in preschool students. Methods: The study used a descriptive case study design. The population was one class, and the sample was taken by simple random sampling according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The respondents were three Kindergarten students in October 2024. The instrument used was a DDTS to assess how much stimulation affects a child’s fine motor development. Data was analyzed with descriptive analytics. Results: Before the implementation of playdough therapy, there were 1-2 respondents who could not imitate until after the implementation all respondents could do everything. After 5 days of therapy, all students were able to play with playdough on several items, include imitate vertical lines, imitate circular, imitate a quadrilateral, imitate a triangle, and imitate diagonal lines. Conclusion: The implementation of playdough therapy for 5 days with a duration of 10 minutes to 3 kindergarten children showed fine motor development.  Fine motor development education needs to be conveyed to parents, so that they can provide stimulation at home. Abstract

Introduction: Surgical site infection (SSI) is an infection that often occurs in post-surgery patients, this occurs because nurses' handwashing compliance is still not perfect according to the Fuerbringer handwashing principle, especially before performing surgical assistance. The impact of SSI causes serious complications, prolongs hospitalization, and increases health care costs. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional approach. The population was all nurses in the surgical room. The sampling technique used a non-probability purposive sampling type of 25 respondents. Data collection was carried out using a compliance questionnaire and observation of SSI infections. The independent variable is compliance with Fuerbringer handwashing. The dependent variable is the incidence of nosocomial infections. This study was analyzed using the Spearman Rank Rho test with a significance level of α <0.05. Results: The Spearman rank analysis test obtained a value of 0.000 (p-value <0.05) which means that there is a relationship between Nurses' handwashing compliance with Fuerbringer and the incidence of nosocomial infections in the surgical room. Conclusion: High handwashing compliance helps prevent cross-contamination between patients and nurses, which can reduce the risk of infection that can be obtained during hospital care.
