Abstract

This research was made to find out the performance of primary canal and tapping constructions, also inquire the maintenance that should be done and prioritized in order to maintain the irrigation. Research method was conducted through direct observation to find out water discharge and primary canal dimensions and tapping constructions, also to inventory all of damage components. Secondary data was about dimensions and canal discharge plan, rainfall data, and climatology. Climatology and rainfall calculation is used to calculate quantity of irrigation water needed. Then, this irrigation water will be used to calculate water discharge during farming season. Hydraulic calculation of primary canal and tapping construction was based on those water discharge value. Results of the research showed water discharge and dimension of primary canal and tapping constructionsat Air Ngalam can irrigate whole rice fields. Unfortunately, canal rifts and damage, and some of illegal tapping by farmersaround cause water distributing on each rice field unequal. In order to optimize Air Ngalam irrigation, it’s a must to make a sequence of action plans in highest priority, also maintenance works.

Abstract

Availability of parking is a very important infrastructure in the transportation system. On-street parking Is one of the causes of traffic congestion if its management is not appropriate. Basuki Rahmat Street is one of Bengkulu city’s governmental centers, that’s why on road parking conditions in Basuki Rahmat Street will be important to be researched and studied. The purpose of this study is to know about Basuki Rahmat Street performance and determine the level of traffic flow density due to the use of the road as a parking lot. Methods and techniques of data collectionare done directly in the field. From the results of the study for 4(Four) days of observations is obtained the data on the number of light vehicles (LV) by 52 % and 48 % of motorcycle. If seen from the side barriers, the contribution of parked vehicles on the percentage of side friction is 91% in Saturday, 0% in Sunday, 71% in Monday and 81% in Tuesday, and by reviewing the component of side friction is appearing that vehicles which parked in Basuki Rahmat Street area doesn’t make the road’s performance decreased. It can be seen from the value of the degree of saturation which is 0.38<0.75 as required by Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual. Actual average capacity of 4864.86 smp /hour for Saturday and Sunday, and 4782.96 smp / hour for Monday and Tuesday, This capacity value is smaller than the basic capacity of undivided two-lane road that is equal to 6000 smp /hour. It shows that Basuki Rahmat Street is still able to accommodate the traffic that passes through the road. Traffic conditions at peak hours at Basuki Rahmat Street is specified based on the degree of saturation (DS), that the performance on the road Basuki Rahmat for 4 days observations is at B level, which means that the flow is stable with moderate traffic volume and where the speed is begin to be restricted by the traffic condition, and the driver still free enough to choose the speed and lane road to be used.

Abstract

Clay mortar storage during the molding of brick often takes place in brick home industry factories. The storage caused by the time and the labors limitation. This article is the report of the research of the age of the clay mortar storage during the process of the brick. Clay mortar in this research was made at the same time and molded to be 20 bricks every day till the fith day of the clay mortarstorage. Water content of each clay mortar variations were measured. The brick production process were done as the way they did at a factory in Pasar Pedati, Midle Bengkulu Regency. The brick compressive strength test was done according to SNI 03-4164-1996 using the compression machine hand operated of 250 kN capacity. The test was done on the seventh day after the mortar covering on top and bottom of the brick. Every first crack was occurred at the brick. The strength which report is the strength of the brick when the first crack occur during the test. The two days clay mortar storage produce best compressive strength of the brick. It also has the highest clay mortar water content. The clay mortar storage of 2 untill 4 days produce bricks with better strength.

Abstract

The maintenance works of irrigation network are needed to maintain irrigation infrastructure to be well functioned and operable. The canals shall be defected due to natural causes which would make the dimension to become nonstandard, hence the effort to maintain the canals to be well functioned is needed to be conducted by the government by means of special maintenance. Maintenance shall be categorized into 4 types of activity, i.e. continuous maintenance, periodic maintenance, emergency maintenance and annual maintenance. Canals handlings shall not be conducted physically only hence the effort to increase the efficiency by means of operational and maintenance activity and by means of maintenance and upgrading of skill and knowledge of the farmers as water resource users shall be conducted following the physical maintenance, hence the farmers could solve their problem considering water usage management independently. The research was conducted by means of site research. It was expected that by the research, the effort to repair the defected or unserviceable canals as it was expected shall be conducted by the government and the water resource users.

Abstract

his article is a report research of mortar with 10% Pine leaf ash (PLA) and 5 variations of red brick ash (RBA). The mortar is a mixture of fine sand, water, and adhesive material with proportion of cement and fine sand is 1 dan 3. RBA was added up to 50% of cement with 10% addition for each variation. Both of the ashes were added base on the weight volume of cement of normal mortar. The normal mortar is the mortar without the ashes. The initial flow of themortar is 105%-115%. The 5 cm mortar cubes were made to test the compressive strength and the absorbtion. The tests were done according to SNI 03-6825-2002 and SNI 15-2049-2004 when the speciments age is 28 days. The cube speciments were taken out of the water sink a day earlier. The highest compressive strength is 22,4% higher than the normal mortar come out ofthe PLA mortar without RBA. The strength of the PLA and 10% RBA mortar is 4,4% higher than the normal one and 18% lower then the PLA mortar without the RBA. The lowest mortar absorbtion (11,68%) belongs to PLA mortar with 10% RBA. The research result shows that the absorbtion and the compressive strength of the mortar isnot always inversely propotional.
