Abstract

ABSTRACTThe development of livestock in an area must have a measurement of the potential of the area to be developed better, because livestock production will often depend on the carrying capacity of feed. Data collection using secondary data from which mostly comes from the Agricultural Education Agency (BPP) accompanied by data from the Forestry Service Branch of Region V using the latest available data. Data analysis using descriptive analysis, the technique used using the main calculation from Nell and Rollinson in 1974 with data on land area and harvest area. Analyzing the carrying capacity of feed, the carrying capacity of agricultural waste products, the number of livestock converted to animal units (AU), the carrying capacity index, livestock capacity, and the increase in livestock population. The results showed that feed from agricultural waste had the largest amount compared to feed from green fodder. The carrying capacity of feed which has a value of 4,222.87 AU and the carrying capacity of livestock feed from agricultural waste which has a value of DM 4,127.02 AU, CP 4,820.31 AU, and TDN and 3,588.04 AU. The carrying capacity of agricultural waste has a smaller TDN value than DM and CP resulting in low feed efficiency. Based on the carrying capacity index status of 41.02, it shows a safe status, which means that the feed available in Cicalengka District can meet livestock needs.

Abstract

Sorghum has potential as a feed crop that has the ability to adapt to high temperature environments. The purpose of the research was to analyze the growth characteristics and biomass production of sorghum variety II at different cutting ages and urea fertilizer concentrations. The research used a complete randomized design pattern (3 x 3) with 3 replications. The first factor was cutting age namely 60, 65, and 70 days. The second factor was urea fertilizer concentration level of 150, 200, and 250 kg ha-1.  Parameters observed included growth characteristics including plant height (cm), stem diameter (cm) and leaf length (cm), then biomass production including fresh biomass production (tons ha-1), and brix content (%). The results showed that each cutting age and urea fertilizer concentration were significantly different (P<0.05) on plant height, stem diameter and leaf length. Furthermore, biomass production and sugar content value (brix) were not influenced by (P>0.05) cutting age and urea fertilizer concentration on sorghum samurai variety II.  Cutting age of 70 days and urea concentration of 250 kg ha-1 were the best treatments because they showed superior values in the observation of plant height and stem diameter as well as fresh biomass production

Abstract

Protein protection using tannins is expected to increase utilization efficiency protein in ruminants. .This research aims to determine the effect of adding tannin-protected fish meal to the ration on the growth of body weight and body size of local sheep. The method used was an experiment with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) followed by the Duncan test. There were four ration treatments and five replications. P0 = Basal feed (80% field grass + 20% tofu dregs), P1 = Basal feed + 4% fish meal, P2 = Basal feed + 2% tannin-protected fish meal, P3 = Basal feed + 4% tannin-protected fish meal. The result of statistical analysis concluded that adding tannin-protected fish meal for a period of 42 days had no significant effect on increasing body weight and body size of local sheep. Keywords : sheep, fish meal, tannin, body weight, body size

Abstract

Abstract

Jackfruit leaves can be an alternative feed during the dry season and become anthelmintic because they contain tannins that can prevent the development and kill worms in livestock. This study aims to evaluate vitro the mortality of worms in the administration of jackfruit leaves. This study consisted of six treatments and four replicates, using statistical analysis of Complete Random Design, namely:   the addition of P0: NaCl 0.9; P1: albendazole; P2:10% jackfruit leaf extract (EDN); P3: 25% EDN; P4: 50% EDN and P5: 100% EDN. The study showed that adding jackfruit leaves had a real effect (P<0.01) on worm death. The number of worm deaths in the second hour was no different between the administration of 25% (P3) and 50% (P4) EDN, but it was different from the administration of 100% EDN (R5), while at the 3rd hour, there was no significant difference between the treatment of 50% (P4) and 100% (P5). In conclusion, a concentration of 100% EDN at the 3rd hour killed 100% of the worms Haemonchus contortus
