Abstract

Children’s interests shift from traditional fiction to digital storytelling, indicating a preference for emotionally intricate and character-focused narratives. A poll of 113 Indonesian children aged 8 to 12 provided additional insights into their preferred types of stories. This study examines the implications of this transformation for educational objectives, particularly about cultivating social and emotional competencies and fostering character development. Six narrative texts were analyzed utilizing a qualitative methodology. Three Indonesian folktales were selected due to their narrative composition and factual foundation. The last three were anomaly-themed digital narratives from popular TikTok accounts frequented by children, including @cerita_anomali_lucu, @pylan.page, and @piq.man6, each boasting millions of views and likes. We utilized NVivo 15 software to assist us with thematic coding. We examined three domains of character education (empathy, integrity, and accountability) and two facets of social-emotional learning (SEL) (emotion management and relational skills). The findings indicate that Indonesian folktales consistently provide explicit moral teachings and enhance emotional intelligence. Conversely, narratives involving digital anomalies frequently feature fragmented plots and protagonists exhibiting emotional instability. Although these digital narratives may captivate and amuse children, they often lack explicit moral lessons. This study proposes a pedagogical approach integrating folktales' ethical clarity with digital media's format.

Abstract

The emergence of new forms of literary works that utilize digital technology, such as Alternative Universe (AU) literature, has made literature relevant to the generation that grew up with social media and digital devices. This format offers a more visual and interactive reading experience, but perceptions of AU are still often compared to conventional literary works. The purpose of this study is to examine stylistic transformations in AU literature and their role in future language literacy. This study is a qualitative descriptive research using quotations from AU literary texts as data. The data analysis technique employed is a stylistic analysis approach, with the research process comprising data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that Alternative Universe literature has transformed Indonesian literature through four stylistic aspects: a shift in diction from formal-poetic to contemporary digital language, simplification of sentence structure and the dominance of mixed Indonesian-English code-switching, the explicit use of visual imagery through photos of idol characters, and the minimization of figurative language. AU significantly contributes to literacy through linguistic innovation (new vocabulary, abbreviations, acronyms), the democratization of digital literacy, and the development of multimodal literacy. AU literature shapes the future of the Indonesian language to be more complex with multiple registers and adaptive to technological developments.

Abstract

The use of animated videos featuring the legends of “mountains” can serve as a relevant alternative medium for enhancing listening skills while simultaneously instilling local cultural values in students. This study analyzes the narrative structure of mountain legend animations from the Gromore Studio Series YouTube channel, as well as the potential and challenges of using such videos as listening comprehension learning media. A descriptive qualitative approach with narrative analysis was employed. The data sources consisted of three animated videos titled Legenda Gunung Merapi, Legenda Gunung Kelud, and Asal-Usul Gunung Arjuna, produced by Gromore Studio Series on YouTube. The analysis was conducted using Tzvetan Todorov's narrative structure theory and educational futurology to assess the media's relevance in future learning contexts. The data analysis process included (a) data reduction, (b) data presentation, and (c) conclusion drawing/verification. Source triangulation was used to ensure data validity. The findings reveal that all three videos follow a complete narrative structure (equilibrium, disruption, recognition, repair, and new equilibrium). Moreover, the videos have the potential to engage students through contextual visualization of folklore and strengthen listening skills via audio-visual support. They also contribute to character building and local value reinforcement. Challenges include limited technological access in schools, teachers' digital media competency gaps, and alignment with current curriculum especially the learning objectives. Therefore, the use of animated videos as learning media must be supported by policies, training, and comprehensive evaluation to ensure their effectiveness and sustainability in enhancing students’ listening literacy.

Abstract

This study reveals the representation of the nobility of a mother in poetry by D. Zawawi Imron through the perspective of Madurese culture with Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. The analyzed poems, especially the poem entitled "Mother", represent the figure of the mother not only as a family figure, but also as closely attached to the cultural values of Madurese society. The method used to describe this is descriptive qualitative which is a process of analyzing data through logical descriptions. The results of the study show that (1) denotatively and connotatively, the mother is depicted as a noble, steadfast, and sacrificial figure, in line with the noble values of Madurese culture that uphold the steadfastness and honor of women as the pillars of the family; (2) mythologically, the mother is represented as a symbol of the homeland, spiritual strength, and cultural identity that is rooted in Madurese society. D. Zawawi Imron's poetry is not only a personal expression of the figure of the mother, but also a collective reflection of Madurese culture on traditional morals and ethics.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the core competencies of ecoliteracy in Indonesian language e-teaching materials, with a focus on the coast of Madura. Specifically, it examines the application of e-teaching materials in Indonesian language learning, particularly in the context of the Madura coast. It seeks to enhance the ecoliteracy of junior high school students. The research method employed is a qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques that include interviews, observation, documentation, and questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Testing the validity of the data is conducted in two ways: source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of the research show that the application of e-teaching materials containing Madurese psychology can strengthen junior high school students' ecoliteracy competencies, both mind, heart, and hands competencies. Mind, heart, and hand can be integrated in e-teaching materials through the presentation of various text genres and modes, project-based learning activities, learning communities, reflection, and continuous evaluation. The mind can be observed through students' ability to understand ecological concepts, environmental issues, and solutions to environmental problems. Heart can be seen in an increased attitude of respect and care for the environment. Hands can be seen in students' activeness in protecting and caring for the environment. The results of the student responses were 88%, indicating that students can apply ecoliteracy competencies.

Abstract

Tembang Macapat (Macapat songs), as an expression of traditional oral literature, play an important role in preserving Islamic values in Java and Madura, making them a relevant material object in the context of culture-based da'wah. This research is important because it shows how local culture functions not only as an aesthetic heritage, but also as a spiritual and educational medium. The objective of this study is to examine the role of Tembang Macapat (macapat songs) as a medium for Islamic da'wah and moral education within the framework of local culture. This study employs a qualitative method with a historical-cultural approach, with the subjects of study comprising Tembang Macapat (macapat song) texts, Islamic manuscripts, and oral tradition narratives from Javanese and Madurese communities. The research findings reveal three main points: (1) Tembang (Songs) such as Pangkur, Dhandhanggula, and Megatruh contain Islamic values such as tazkiyatun nafs, tauhid, and awareness of the afterlife; (2) The Islamisation of culture occurs through symbolic and adaptive processes, not confrontational ones; (3) The Madurese song tradition conveys social ethics contextually within the family environment. These findings affirm that Tembang Macapat (macapat songs) are a strategic instrument in peacefully, aesthetically, and contextually grounding Islamic teachings within a multicultural society

Abstract

The development of digital technology has revolutionized the paradigm of elementary school education. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the significant breakthroughs in the application of artificial intelligence in the learning process. The purpose of this study is to explore the integration of AI in language learning to improve the digital literacy of elementary school children in the context of educational futurology. Through a literature study and trend analysis approach to identify various forms of AI utilization, such as educational chatbots, NLP (Natural Language Processing)-based applications, and adaptive platforms tailored to children's learning styles. This study discusses the ethical, pedagogical, and cultural challenges in the application of AI, as well as its implications for the development of language skills, children's understanding of literature, and the strengthening of cultural identity. The results of the analysis show that AI has great potential in supporting comprehensive digital literacy, provided that it is designed with a humanistic and contextual approach. The limitations of this study lie in the exploratory and predictive nature of the analysis, the limitations of generalization due to the heterogeneity of AI interventions, and the potential for publication bias that needs to be taken into account. Further long-term empirical research is needed to validate these findings. The practical implications of this research are the importance of synergy between educators, technology developers, and policymakers. Teachers are trained to become active users, technology developers design integrated contextual content, and policymakers develop ethical guidelines and adaptive regulations for inclusive, sustainable, and culturally sensitive AI implementation

Abstract

Research on Madurese folklore is of high urgency in preserving local culture amid the rapid pace of globalization. Globalization often leads to cultural homogenization, threatening the relevance of oral traditions such as folklore. Revitalizing Madurese folklore is a strategic step to keep cultural values alive and known to a wider audience. The proposed effort is to integrate folklore into the Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) program. The main objective of this research is to develop the “Careta Madhura” learning media that utilizes folklore as culture-based teaching materials. The method used is development research with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The research stages included identifying material needs, designing media concepts, developing modules and interactive digital content, and limited dissemination. The product's feasibility was assessed by BIPA experts and Madurese cultural experts, then tested on beginner-level BIPA learners using data collection techniques such as questionnaires, observation, and interviews. The novelty of this research lies in its contextual role-play approach, which allows learners to experience cultural values directly, unlike conventional learning methods that tend to emphasize grammar. The results of the study show that “Careta Madhura” is feasible and effective, both as an innovative medium to enrich BIPA materials and as a sustainable strategy for introducing Madurese cultural heritage to the global arena.

Abstract

Digitalisasi wacana politik sebagai sajian ilmiah dari pergeseran pola komunikasi politik yang memanfaatkan dunia digital untuk pembangunan eksistensi diri oleh Dedi Mulyadi. Wacana politik Dedi Mulyadi memiliki karaktersitik yang terbentuk atas struktur gramatikal, seperti konstruksi morfologis yang membentuk modus verbal tertentu dalam satuan sintaktis, sehingga menjadi penciri dalam pembentukan eksistensi diri. Tujuan peneltian ini adalah telaah kekhasan struktur gramatikal dari tuturan Dedi Mulyadi yang digunakan untuk eksistensi diri. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan rancanagn metode studi kasus. Selain itu, aspek futurologi digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk menelaah pola pembangunan struktur gramatikal yang dapat digunakan dalam pembangunan eksisitensi diri dalam bidang politik masa depan yang serba digital, sehingga ada dua hasil analisis penelitian ini. Pertama, Dedi Mulyadi membangun digitalisasi wacana politik melalui penggunaan modus verbal, yakni modus negatif, interogatif, impertaif, obligatif, subjungtif, dan desideratif. Modus-modus tersebut berfungsi untuk mengungkapkan pengingkaran tentang konsepsi tertentu untuk menonjolkan sikap empati, pengungkap keinginan dan harapan dalam penyelesaiaan persoalan-persoalan sosial-kemasyarakatan, memerintah sebagai aspek keberanian, pemberian kritikan sebagai bentuk terhadap kecermatan kebijakan publik, mengungkapkan tindakan dan keadaan. Kedua, struktur morfologis modus verbal dibentuk melalui afiksasi dan reduplikasi, yang berfungsi membentuk makna tindakan, keadaan, perintah, proses, serta makna jamak. Dengan demikian, struktur pembentuk wacana politik Dedi Mulyadi memiliki maksud yang luas untuk menunjang kapasitasnya sebgaai tokoh publik.

Abstract

The limitation of learning materials that focus solely on structure and linguistic aspects demonstrates the need for the development of teaching materials that encourage students to think scientifically in a comprehensive manner, starting from observation to report writing. This study aims to assist students in understanding report text materials more effectively as well as to contribute to the preservation of local wisdom. The e-module on observation report texts based on local wisdom is in line with the objectives of the national curriculum, which emphasizes character development and cultural understanding. This research belongs to the category of Research and Development (R&D). The research design employed the 4-D Model (Four-D Models) by Thiagarajan, which consists of four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The data in this study comprise verbal and numerical data. Verbal data were obtained through expert and practitioner validation in the form of feedback and suggestions, while numerical data were derived from assessments conducted by validators and student questionnaires. The results of the feasibility percentage calculation of the e-module based on expert and practitioner validation yielded an average of 87%. Meanwhile, the feasibility percentage based on students’ responses reached an average of 92%. These percentages demonstrate that the e-module of observation report texts based on the local wisdom of Banyuwangi for Grade X vocational high school students is highly feasible and can be implemented in the learning process.
