Abstract

AN ETHNOGRAPHIC STUDY OF BUGIS INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION IN KURAU VILLAGE, CENTRAL BANGKA Desa Kurau, located in Bangka Tengah Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, has been inhabited by the Bugis community since the 1960s. As the second largest ethnic group after the Malays, the Bugis community coexists with the majority Malay population,adapting their cultural practices accordingly. This study aims to analyze communication patterns between Bugis and Malay communities in Desa Kurau using a qualitative approach through communication ethnography. The research findings indicate that transactional communication dominates interactions in Desa Kurau. This includes transcendent communication in religious rituals, interpersonal communication in marriages, and group communication during communal activities. The communication patterns of Bugis communities in Desa Kurau are heavily influenced by their cultural values and history. Bugis Bone and Wajo communities exhibit communication patterns emphasizing cooperation and equality within their groups, using distinct cultural language and symbols. Meanwhile, communication between Bugis and Bangka Malay communities shows dynamic cultural and linguistic adaptations to maintain harmonious relationships. To enhance harmony and cooperation, it is recommended that local government and educational institutions develop intercultural communication education programs and strengthen community discussion forums involving community leaders from both ethnic groups. Desa Kurau yang terletak di Kabupaten Bangka Tengah, Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung, telah dihuni oleh Suku Bugis sejak tahun 1960-an. Sebagai kelompok etnis terbesar kedua setelah Suku Melayu, komunitas Bugis hidup berdampingan dengan mayoritas penduduk Melayu dan menyesuaikan praktik budaya mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pola komunikasi antara masyarakat Bugis dan Melayu di Desa Kurau tersebut menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui metode etnografi komunikasi. Hasil penelitianmenunjukkan bahwa komunikasi transaksional mendominasi interaksi di Desa Kurau. Bentuk komunikasi ini meliputi komunikasi transendental dalam ritual keagamaan, komunikasi antarpribadi dalam pernikahan, dan komunikasi kelompok dalam gotong royong. Pola komunikasi masyarakat Bugis di Desa Kurau sangat dipengaruhi oleh nilai budaya dan sejarah mereka. Masyarakat Bugis Bone dan Wajo menunjukkan pola komunikasi yang menekankan kerjasama dan kesetaraan dalam kelompok, menggunakan bahasa dan simbol budaya yang khas. Sementara itu, komunikasi antara masyarakat Bugis dan Melayu Bangka menunjukkan adanya adaptasi budaya dan bahasa yang dinamis untuk mempertahankan hubungan harmonis. Untuk meningkatkan harmoni dan kerjasama, disarankan agar pemerintah daerah dan lembaga pendidikan setempat mengembangkan program pendidikan komunikasi antarbudaya, serta menguatkan forum-forum diskusi komunitas yang melibatkan tokoh masyarakat dari kedua kelompok etnis.

Abstract

DESIGNING A 3D VIRTUAL REALITY TOUR OF THE ISTANA SAYAP AT PELALAWAN USING THEASYS APPLICATION AS A DIGITAL HISTORY LEARNING SOURCEOne of the main challenges in history education is the limited use of diverse technology in the learning process, particularly in integrating local historical content. Riau Province has numerous historical artifacts, including the Istana Sayap in Pelalawan Regency, which contains relics from the Pelalawan Sultanate that must be preserved. To address this, a new approach combining IoT (Internet of Things) technology and Virtual Reality (VR) was implemented to present historical content from a different perspective. The objectives of this project were to develop an innovative digital product featuring the historical heritage of the Istana Sayap and design VR media to meet the challenges of digital learning in the era of globalization, particularly in the field of history. User feedback indicated high satisfaction with the media, which successfully produced a VR experience of the Istana Sayap, accessible on both smartphones and laptops.Salah satu tantangan utama dalam pendidikan sejarah adalah terbatasnya penggunaan teknologi yang beragam dalam proses pembelajaran, terutama dalam mengintegrasikan konten sejarah lokal. Provinsi Riau memiliki banyak artefak bersejarah, termasuk Istana Sayap di Kabupaten Pelalawan, yang berisi peninggalan Kesultanan Pelalawan yang harus dilestarikan. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, sebuah pendekatan baru yang menggabungkan teknologi IoT (Internet of Things) dan Virtual Reality (VR) diimplementasikan untuk menyajikan konten sejarah dari sudut pandang yang berbeda. Tujuan dari proyek ini adalah untuk mengembangkan produk digital inovatif yang menampilkan warisan sejarah Istana Sayap dan merancang media VR untuk menjawab tantangan pembelajaran digital di era globalisasi, khususnya di bidang sejarah. Umpan balik dari pengguna menunjukkan kepuasan yang tinggi terhadap media tersebut, yang berhasil menghasilkan pengalaman VR Istana Sayap yang dapat diakses di smartphone dan laptop.

Abstract

REFUGIA BATIK AS A PRODUCT OF EXCELLENCE AND A SUPPORTER OF THE JATIREJOYOSO VILLAGE OF AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION AND TOURISMInadequate human resources cause the community to lack independence and self-confidence in managing, running, and developing the “Taman Refugia” agricultural education tourism. The solution to this problem is to develop and train the manufacture of distinctive and superior products that can support tourism activities in the Jatirejoyoso Agricultural Education Tourism Village. The purpose of this development and training activity is to create and create batik that is characteristic of Jatirejoyoso Village, and to train the community to produce the batik. The method of implementing community service in the development and training of the Refugia batik motif is 1) preparation stage, 2) implementation stage, and 3) follow-up stage. The results of the community service activities show that participants can make Refugia batik with assistance. Thus, the results can be used to support the development and facilitation of the Jatirejoyoso agricultural education tourism village.Sumber daya manusia yang tidak memadai menyebabkan masyarakat tidak memiliki kemandirian dan rasa percaya diri dalam mengelola, menjalankan, serta mengembangkan wisata edukasi pertanian “Taman Refugia”. Solusi terhadap permasalahan tersebut yaitu dengan melakukan pengembangan dan pelatihan pembuatan produk khas dan unggulan yang dapat mendukung kegiatan pariwisata di Desa Wisata Edukasi Pertanian Jatirejoyoso. Adapun tujuan dari kegiatan pengembangan dan pelatihan ini yaitu membuat serta menciptakan batik yang menjadi ciri khas Desa Jatirejoyoso, serta melatih masyarakat untuk memproduksi batik tersebut. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat dalam kegiatan pengembangan dan pelatihan motif batik Refugia yakni: 1) tahap persiapan, 2) tahap pelaksanaan, dan 3) tahap tindak lanjut. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa peserta dapat membuat batik Refugia dengan pendampingan. Sehingga, hasilnya dapat digunakan sebagai penunjang pengembangan dan fasilitasi desa wisata edukasi pertanian Jatirejoyoso.

Abstract

NETWORK STRUCTURE OF X SOCIAL MEDIA USERS WITH NOVIRALNOJUSTICE HASHTAGThe hashtag NoViralNoJustice has become a topic of discussion on social media X due to a case that is perceived as being inadequately addressed by the police, which only began to be processed once it went viral. The purpose of this research is to describe the structure and types of networks that exist within discussions on social media X using the hashtag NoViralNoJustice. The social network analysis method is employed in this study through participatory observation on social media X. The results of this research reveal various structures and types of networks formed based on the hashtag NoViralNoJustice. Within this network, there are five main components, each with its own member actors. The actor @asumsico has the highest number of connections, with 121 relationships with other actors. Additionally, there are five actors who serve as bridges between the main network and other networks. The type of network formed is a two-mode type with a wheel communication pattern characterized by asymmetric relationships. This research, through network visualization, demonstrates that several actors can effectively convey messages on social media and can influence public policy. This insight can certainly be used by institutions as a benchmark in social media engagement.Hashtag NoViralNoJustice menjadi perbincangan di sosial media X akibat dari kasus yang dianggap kurang ditanggapi oleh kepolisian dan baru diproses ketika sudah viral. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan struktur dan jenis jaringan yang ada dalam diskusi di media sosial X yang menggunakan hashtag NoViralNoJustice. Metode analisis jaringan sosial digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan melaksanakan observasi secara partisipatif di media sosial X. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan berbagai struktur dan jenis jaringan yang terbentuk berdasarkan hashtag NoViralNoJustice. Dalam jaringan ini, ada lima komponen utama, masing-masing dengan anggota komponen mereka sendiri. Aktor @asumsico memiliki jumlah hubungan terbanyak, dengan 121 hubungan dengan aktor lain. Selain itu, ada lima aktor yang berfungsi sebagai penghubung antara jaringan utama dan jaringan lainnya. Tipe jaringan yang terbentuk adalah tipe dua mode dan pola komunikasi roda dengan hubungan asimetris. Penelitian ini, melalui visualisasi jaringan komunikasi, menunjukkan bahwa beberapa aktor dapat melakukan penyampaian pesan yang efektif di media sosial dan dapat membentuk kebijakan publik, hal ini tentunya dapat digunakan institusi sebagai tolak ukur dalam bermedia sosial.

Abstract

THE EFFECT OF THE CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDING PROCESS (CUP) LEARNING MODEL ON STUDENTS' CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING AND METACOGNITIVE SKILLSThe current curriculum changes anticipate that students will possess problem-solving skills, metacognitive skills, and critical and creative thinking. One of the principal challenges currently facing educators is the lack of comprehension of the concepts being taught and the methods for solving problems. It is, therefore, necessary to adopt a learning approach that emphasises deeper conceptual understanding. The research was conducted at MAN Kota Mojokerto to determine the impact of the CUPs learning model on students' creative problem-solving abilities and metacognitive skills. This research employs a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique employed was purposive sampling, whereby class XI F7 was selected as the experimental class and class XI F8 was designated as the control class for comparison purposes. The research instruments comprised a description question for creative problem-solving ability, an inventory questionnaire for the measurement of metacognitive ability, and an observation sheet. The results of the MANOVA test indicate a significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Consequently, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. The results demonstrate that the implementation of the CUPs learning model has a notable impact on enhancing creative problem-solving abilities and metacognitive skills in students from class XI F7 of MAN Kota Mojokerto. The considerable effect can be substantiated by the improvement in test outcomes, indicating that the CUPs model effectively activates indicators on both dependent variables.Perubahan kurikulum saat ini mengharapkan kemampuan memecahkan masalah, keterampilan metakognitif, dan berpikir secara kritis serta kreatif dapat dimiliki oleh peserta didik. Salah satu hambatan utama sekarang ini adalah kurangnya pemahaman terhadap konsep yang diajarkan dan cara mengatasi permasalahan. Oleh karena itu, model CUPs dipilih sebab menekankan pemahaman konseptual yang lebih mendalam. Penelitian dilakukan di MAN Kota Mojokerto dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran CUPs terhadap kemampuan creative problem solving dan metacognitive skill peserta didik. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan quasi eksperimen pretest posttest control group design. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling, di mana kelas XI F7 dipilih sebagai kelas eksperimen, dan kelas XI F8 menjadi kelas kontrol untuk perbandingan. Instrumen penelitian melibatkan soal uraian untuk kemampuan pemecahan masalah secara kreatif, angket inventori untuk mengukur kemampuan metakognitif, dan lembar observasi. Hasil uji MANOVA menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 lebih kecil dari 0,05, sehingga hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (H1) diterima. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran CUPs secara bersamaan memberikan dampak yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan creative problem solving dan keterampilan metakognitif pada peserta didik dari kelas XI F7 MAN Kota Mojokerto. Pengaruh signifikan tersebut dapat dibuktikan melalui peningkatan hasil pengujian, menunjukkan bahwa model CUPs berhasil mengaktifkan indikator-indikator pada kedua variabel dependen.

Abstract

In the digital age, hybrid warfare has emerged as a multidimensional threat that combines conventional military tactics with cyberattacks, disinformation, economic pressure, and covert operations. This research examines the urgent need for policy integration between national defense and public policy in responding to these evolving threats. The study employs a national security analysis framework to explore how synergy between defense institutions and public sector agencies can enhance resilience against hybrid attacks. By analyzing empirical cases such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict and cyber intrusions targeting critical infrastructure, the study identifies core vulnerabilities in siloed governance structures and uncoordinated response mechanisms. Key findings highlight the importance of integrating military strategies with cyber defense, economic resilience, and public awareness campaigns. National defense must extend beyond physical readiness to encompass advanced intelligence systems, digital security infrastructure, and public engagement in countering disinformation. Simultaneously, public policy must prioritize digital literacy, economic sovereignty, and institutional cooperation to ensure a whole-of-nation response. The paper recommends establishing a centralized national command for hybrid threat mitigation, enhancing early warning systems, and fostering multi-sector partnerships involving government, private tech companies, and civil society. The success of NATO’s hybrid warfare strategy integration offers a comparative model for countries like Indonesia. Ultimately, this study argues that confronting hybrid warfare demands a seamless convergence of defense and public governance mechanisms, transforming fragmented security protocols into an adaptive and united front.

Abstract

The study used a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design involving intact classes assigned to experimental and control groups. Conducted in Anambra State, Nigeria, the study focused on improving Literature-in-English achievement among SSII students using the Reciprocal Peer Tutoring (RPT) strategy compared to the conventional method. A sample of 65 students (43 females, 22 males) was drawn from two co-educational schools. Data were collected using the validated and reliable 20-item Literature-in-English Achievement and Retention Test (LART). Trained teachers administered pretests, six-week lessons, posttests, and retention tests. Data were analyzed with mean, standard deviation, and ANCOVA at a 0.05 significance level. The results in Table (1) show that male students had pretest and posttest mean scores of (51.44) and (52.81) with standard deviations of (9.33) and (10.39), while female students had (50.65) and (51.47) with standard deviations of (9.68) and (10.22). The mean gain for males was (1.37) compared to females’ (0.82), indicating slightly better performance for males under the conventional method. Table (2) shows an ANCOVA result with F(1,63) = (3.564), p = (0.114) > 0.05, confirming no significant interaction effect between gender and teaching method on students’ achievement in literary appreciation. Gender did not influence posttest performance. The study concluded that the RPT strategy enhances students’ performance regardless of gender. It recommended that teachers adopt learner-centered strategies such as RPT to improve engagement and achievement in literary appreciation.
