The master plan of research of Sam Ratulangi University is to produce human resources based on research culture which can run the national industrial system and infrastructure development of science, technology, art and culture, social science and humanity. In objective to actualize that master plan of research, The Institution of Research and Community Service of Sam Ratulangi University (or Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Universitas Sam Ratulangi) publishes The Studies of Social Sciences. The Studies of Social Sciences starts since 2019 and publishes articles for twice a year both written in Indonesian and English. The Studies of Social Sciences welcome for contributions of academicians and practitioners. The articles which submitted to The Studies of Social Sciences are never been published or under review to other publishers.

Abstract

Aktivitas investasi merupakan faktor penting dalam mengembangkan sebuah usaha bisnis yang dijalankan. Aktivitas investasi yang dilakukan pada umumnya dihasilkan dari keputusan investasi yang mempertimbangkan berbagai faktor. Pelaku UMKM secara umum sering tidak memperoleh pengetahuan dan informasi yang cukup dalam menjalankan kegiatan manajerial terkait dengan keputusan investasi. Penerapan ipteks dalam melakukan keputusan investasi menggunakan metode nilai waktu sekarang atau present value method (NPV). Metode ini diharapkan pelaku UMKM dapat memperoleh pemahaman terkait keputusan investasi sehingga dapat mempertahankan keberlanjutan bisnisnya.

Abstract

Griya Paniki Indah (GPI) housing is one of the largest housing estates in North Sulawesi. With more than 7,000 houses built, this housing has become one of the relatively large residential locations. This condition provides an opportunity for the emergence of online food selling businesses in this housing in an effort to meet the needs of the people in the housing. This PKM elevates the community of online food seller groups which are micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) which increase from time to time but often experience dissatisfaction from consumers due to product quality that is not in accordance with what is described in online media, lead time for food delivery is usually more from 1 hour and the inconsistency of the quality of the product produced. The online Food Seller group is an economically productive target audience. This service seeks to address the problem of customer dissatisfaction with online food vendors by making training to provide knowledge and understanding of quality management concepts, especially those related to performance, features, reliability, conformance, durability, serviceability, aesthetic, and perception. As  well  as strategies for overall quality improvement through TQM elements, namely customer focus, obsession with quality, long-term commitment, teamwork, continuous system improvement, education and training, unity of purpose, and employee involvement and empowerment.

Abstract

Stunting in under-five children is a reduced growth rate primarily caused by chronic undernutrition that leads to a child having height much less than is normal for age. This condition manifests mostly after two years old. The definition of stunting according to the World Health Organization (WHO) is for the "height for age" value to be less than two standard deviations of the WHO Child Growth Standards median. Indonesia has been plagued recently with stunting. In 2015, the World Bank indicates that stunting has cost 3 to 11 percent of the gross domestic product. Previous research works have documented that mothers play an important role in preventing stunting through antenatal care and child nursing. The objective of this study is to explore the role played by the mothers in Bunaken, Manado, in antenatal care and child nursing that prevent stunting. Samples are drawn using purposive sampling and data are analysis descriptively. The results show that the mothers’ roles include taking antenatal check up to four times during pregnancy, daily use of FE 90 pill, participating in pregnancy counseling and care, delivery by health professionals, attending integrated service post (posyandu), visiting health professionals for postnatal care, completing universal immunization on child over 12 months old, and participating in educational activities for under-five nursing and nutritional fulfillment at least once a month. Of these eight recorded roles, however, there are merely 20% mothers indicate they regularly taking part in pregnancy counseling and care. Furthermore, only one percent (n = 3) respondents that report they attending educational activities for under-five nursing and nutritional fulfillment.

Abstract

Bumdes in Koka and Kembes 2 villages have carried out activities with simple organizing and types of activities that did not go well. The initial capital of Bumdes was not developed and the types of activities were stagnant. The problem is, the management of the activities of Village-Owned Enterprises (Bumdes) in Koka and Kembes Dua Villages, has not run well in accordance with Bumdes management rules issued by the Minister of Villages and Disadvantaged Regions No. 4 of 2015, the business planning process and business feasibility analysis not done so that the selection of business types is done carelessly. The solution that has been implemented is to strengthen the management of the Bumdes to the Bumdes management and village officials so that the government and the Bumdes management will learn about the importance of correct Bumdes management by conducting business planning and business feasibility analysis. The method used is lecture and Focus Group Discusion (FGD) mapping of potential and Bumdes business type selection.

Abstract

Tingkat penguasaan kanji dalam membaca teks yang berbahasa Jepang dengan pengantar mata kuliah menerjemahkan merupakan modal utama untuk mengatasi kesulitan pembelajar bahasa Jepang di Unsrat. Hal ini membuat penulis ingin mencoba mengadakan suatu penelitian/eksperimen melalui membaca teks dalam penguasaan huruf kanji dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam membaca teks berbahasa Jepang yang kemudian berdampak pada teknik menerjemahkan yang benar. Hal ini berdasarkan pengalaman pribadi penulis dalam mengasuh mata kuliah menerjemahkan bahasa Jepang ke dalam bahasa Indonesia untuk mahasiswa prodi.sastra Jepang Unsrat dalam kelas. Teknik dalam hal ini adalah dengan memberikan teks berbahasa Jepang dengan metode kemampuan mahasiswa akan pengertian dari teks itu sendiri, disini dapat dilihat tingkat penguasaan kosa kata, kalimat, paragraf maupun cerita dalam suatu bacaan yang terdapat beberapa kosa kata atau ungkapan yang muncul baik bertulisan huruf kanji maupun tidak. Metode ini juga dapat mempermudah mahasiswa dalam menguasai kanji atau menambah hafalan kosa kata baru terutama kemampuan menerjemahkan bahasa Jepang kedalam bahasa Indonesia. Objek penelitian ini dipusatkan pada mahasiswa semester akhir (5 & 6) prodi.sastra Jepang Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Unsrat dan hasilnya dinilai mengalami peningkatan dalam penerjemahan tersebut sebagai suatu objek karya ilmiah penulis. Teks book yang dipakai berjudul: “Ryuugakuei no tame no Nihonshi” 留学生のための日本史.
