Abstract

Death can come at any time, this causes a person to experience the fear of death. Fear of death is experienced not only by those who are on the verge of death (severely ill), but also by healthy people. One of the factors that can influence the fear of death is religiosity. One way to increase religiosity is by being involved in categorical groups, associations of the Christian faithful that are ecclesiastical in nature. The hypothesis of this study is that there is a difference in fear of death between people who are involved in the categorical group and those who are not. The research participants were 139 Catholics, consisting of 54 people who were involved and 85 people who were not. Sampling was based on purposive sampling technique and used the Collett-Lester Fear of Death Scale. The results of the analysis showed the results of t=3.353 (p<0.05) which means there is a significant difference in fear of death. The results of the study indicate the need for Catholics to increase their religiosity through involvement in categorical groups to reduce the fear of death.

Abstract

For women, marriage is a form of fulfilment of 'traditional demands' in entering into their roles as wives and mothers. The rapid changes of the times has created another phenomenon that not infrequently women aged above early adulthood make decisions to put marriage aside, especially for career women. This study aims to dive deeper into the picture of decision making regarding marriage in career women. Phenomenology and Inductive Thematic Analysis are used as methods and data analysis techniques so that phenomena can be captured deeply to identify decision making related to marriage that is experienced and felt from the point of view of the informant. RI (28 years old) and SDR (40 years old) who are informants of this study have different family and work backgrounds. The results showed, both informants had hopes of staying married. However, there are a number of personal reasons for the two to finally decide not to get married yet. Decisions taken by informants go through level of stages, starting from observation and evaluation of experience, determining alternatives, and finally determining decisions. There are various factors that play a role in the decision-making process and results of the informants, which is internal and external factors.

Abstract

This training aimed to determine the effectiveness of achievement motivation training to increase achievement motivation. This research applied a few of McClelland and Alschuler’s Achievement Motivation Training concepts which consists of developing mindset through materials, self-study implemented in study-strategy tests, goal setting, priorities, as well as reflection and self-evaluation, the final results of which will be measured through pretest and post-test. The subjects in this study were 19 students aged 9-14 years who were in elementary and junior high school living in the area of Community X. The sampling technique used was non-probability purposive sampling. This study used Quasi Experiment B, with the research design One Group Pre-test Post-test Design. The measuring instrument used is McClelland's achievement motivation scale which has been adapted into Indonesian. Hypothesis testing was carried out by using parametric statistical tests, namely Paired Sample T-Test to see the effect of training on achievement motivation level. The results of the comparison between pre-test and post-test with paired sample t-test showed p value= 0.46 (p > 0.05). The conclusion is that the hypothesis is rejected, which means that there is no significant effect on the subjects’ achievement motivation before and after the achievement motivation training.

Abstract

The Psychology Undergraduate Program at the Psychology Faculty - UKWMS has five areas of specialization consisting of Industrial and Organizational, Clinical, Developmental, Educational, and Social Psychology. Students need to adjust their interests to the five areas of specialization so that they can determine their future career orientation according to the field of work that reflects their competence in each area of interest. These specific competencies will be developed through specialization courses in each area of interest. Therefore, students need to know in advance their interests so as not to be careless in taking specialization courses later. On the other hand, measuring tools to identify areas of interest in psychology are still relatively limited, so scientific research is needed to make standardized measuring tools so that later it can help students to determine their area of interest. This interest measurement tool consists of several work situations related to each area of interest in psychology, where the subject will be asked to choose the type of task that he likes the most to the least. The assignments is based on competency standards determined by the Association of Indonesian Psychological Higher Education Providers (AP2TPI). The validity of the measuring instrument is enforced using the criterion validity method. The results of a study of participants who have completed undergraduate education show that 80% of test results are in accordance with the chosen field of interest during college.

Abstract

During the pandemic, online learning led to the emergence of academic boredom due to the absence of face-to-face meetings. The existence of this boredom can reduce students' academic achievement, and can cause confusion in life purpose since they do not understand their goals. This study aims to determine the effect of goal setting training on academic boredom. The researcher used a purposive sampling technique with 10 participants aged 12-16 years in the "X" community. The training consisted of 3 meetings in 2 weeks. The measuring instrument that we used is the Academic Boredom Survey (ABS-10) with pre-test post-test control group designs. The results of the hypothesis test can be accepted because the p < .05 which is p = .009. There was an increase in the average score of the pre-test post-test from 35.6 to 55.3. On the other hand, where academic boredom should have decreased, it has actually increased. This may be due to the inconsistent attendance of participants at each training meeting.
