Abstract

A successful salty taste sensor was developed using solid-contact electrodes with graphite PVC composite substrates. The fabricated sensor was characterized using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The characterization results showed the addition of polypyrrole-carbon black (PPy-CB) material increased the capacitance, conductivity, and enlarged the graphite PVC electrode surface area. The selectivity of the sensor was measured on an electrode that has been coated with a lipid membrane mixture of tetradodecyl ammonium bromide (TDDAB) and 1-hexadecanol against basic taste samples using the impedimetric method and processed with PCA analysis. The result showed good salty taste selectivity with a silhouette coefficient value of 0.90. The constructed sensor demonstrated linear behavior towards standard salty substances (NaCl) with a sensitivity of -4.36 kΩ/decade and R2 = 0.99 in the sensing range of 0.1 to 30 mM. The study's findings suggest that graphite PVC electrodes modified with PPy-CB and lipid membrane combined with the impedimetric measurement method exhibit good selectivity and sensitivity in detecting salty taste.

Abstract

This study proposes a method for evaluating salty taste using an impedimetric sensor based on an interdigitated electrode modified with a 1-hexadecanol lipid membrane. To improve the selectivity of the saltiness sensor, we optimized the total concentration of lipid/PVC/plasticizer in a THF solvent. The impedance response of the sensor was measured in a frequency range of 1 Hz - 100 kHz, then the feature extraction is performed based on frequency that has the greatest influence on the taste classification. From feature extraction, it is found that low frequency has a significant contribution to the taste classification so that the frequency range 1-108 Hz is taken to be analyzed using principal component analysis (PCA) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) to determine the sensor's membrane performance on saltiness selectivity. Then, the silhouette coefficient score was calculated and compared between sensors to evaluate their saltiness selectivity. Our results show that the best lipid membrane concentration for sensor coating is 9 w/v%, with a silhouette coefficient score is 0.75 for PCA and the accuracy obtained from k-fold cross-validation using LDA is 100%. Furthermore, we used the optimized lipid membrane sensor to measure salt solution concentrations in water to test the sensor's sensitivity. Abstract

The presence of saline groundwater in several locations in Bayat District, Klaten is quite interesting to study considering that the location is far from sea. It is known from previous measurement from several dug wells and it is found that the presence of saline water forms an irregular spot pattern, especially in two villages; Banyuripan and Dukuh. Subsurface information related to these spot patterns needs to be studied in order to determine the distribution and know the depth of saline groundwater and the lithology of the rocks.The measurements were conducted using VES (Vertical Electrical Sounding) Induced Polarization methods to determine the resistivity and the chargeability of the rocks. The data acquisition conducted in 10 sounding points using the Schlumberger configuration with 100m current’s length. The measurement results were processed using IPI2Win software to obtain 1D profiles. This profiles then correlated to produce resistivity and chargeability cross sections. The data interpretation was connected with secondary data in the form of physical, geological and geochemical parameter data.The results of the study found that saline water began to appear at a depth of 1.08 m in accordance with the local water table. The spotting pattern in Banyuripan and Dukuh seen to be separated connate water.

Abstract

Ampas kopi dapat dijadikan bahan baku pembuatan karbon aktif untuk mengurangi limbah cair rumah tangga. Ampas kopi diekstraksi dengan heksana dan etanol, kemudian dilakukan pencucian dan pengeringan. Aktivasi ampas kopi secara kimia, dilakukan dengan 15% larutan ZnCl2 dan metode impregnasi selama 24 jam. Sedangkan aktivasi secara fisika, dilakukan dengan proses karbonisasi pada suhu 500oC yang kemudian dilakukan perendaman dengan larutan 5% HCl untuk mengurangi kandungan abu pada karbon aktif. Karbon aktif dinetralkan serta diikuti dengan proses pengeringan dan pengayakan. Karakterisasi karbon aktif dilakukan dengan beberapa tahap yaitu, SEM, FTIR, PSA, COD, BOD, TSS, dan TDS. Hal ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui morofologi, gugus fungsi, ukuran partikel, dan mengetahui nilai penurunan masing – masing parameter uji sebelum dan sesudah dikontakkan dengan karbon aktif. Uji adsorbsi juga dilakukan dengan mengamati pengaruh jumlah polutan dan karbon aktif yang ditambahkan. Melalui hasil penelitian, didapatkan karbon aktif dengan bentuk morfologi yang dipengaruhi oleh penambahan ZnCl2 diikuti dengan adanya sifat polar serta mendapatkan ukuran karbon aktif yakni 1-100 nm. Selain itu, karbon aktif yang dihasilkan memiliki kemampuan adsorpsi yang baik serta memenuhi standar mutu limbah dan aman dibuang ke lingkungan.Kata-kata kunci: Adsorpsi, Aktivasi, Ampas Kopi, Karakterisasi, Karbon Aktif

Abstract

This research will analyze the motion of a coupled pendulum in various arbitrary initial value angles. Computations use the fourth-order Runge-Kutta which are implemented on the coupled pendulum nonlinear differential equation. There are two main modes in the results: the in-phase mode and the out-of-phase mode. Computation results are in agreement with those in the main reference for some small angles. Results also showed that the computational program could be implemented for solving a coupled pendulum nonlinear differential equations on large angles so that it could resolve the limitation of the Computer Algebra System (CAS) method.
