Abstract

Reporting from the Global Burden of Cancer (GLOBOCAN) data, it was recorded that deaths caused by breast cancer in 2018 reached 18.1 million cases and will increase by 9.6 million per year. The high prevalence of breast cancer in Indonesia is due to the lack of knowledge and the low rate of early breast cancer prevention. Breast self-examination is very effective, efficient, and can be done alone which aims to detect breast cancer early. Understand the effect of the level of understanding of adolescent girls before and after being given health education with demonstration methods related to breast self-examination (SADARI) at SMPN 2 Padarama. The design used in this study was a pre-experimental design type one group pretest posttest with a sample of 66 adolescent girls through simple random sampling method. Analyzed using the Wilcoxon statistical test with a significance level of α ≤ 0.05 used to determine differences in the results of knowledge of adolescent girls before and after being given health education using demonstration techniques. The results of the study with the Wilcoxon statistical test showed that the p-value was 0.000 <0.05 so that there were differences in the level of knowledge of adolescent girls about SADARI before and after being given health education through demonstration techniques. Abstract

Infant nutritional problems remain a public health concern as they affect child growth and development. Infant nutritional status is influenced by various factors related to infant characteristics and family conditions. This study aimed to identify factors associated with the nutritional status of infants aged 0–12 months at Dahlia Integrated Health Post, Palembang. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design. The population included all infants aged 0–12 months, with a total sampling technique resulting in 30 infants. Independent variables included infant age, sex, birth weight, exclusive breastfeeding, maternal education, maternal occupation, and parental income. Nutritional status was assessed using weight-for-age, length-for-age, and weight-for-length indicators. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square and Fisher’s Exact tests. The results showed that most infants had normal nutritional status based on all anthropometric indicators. Bivariate analysis indicated no significant association between most infant and family factors and nutritional status. However, infant age was significantly associated with nutritional status based on length-for-age (p < 0.05). These findings highlight the importance of early monitoring of linear growth in infants, particularly during the complementary feeding transition period.

Abstract

According to Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 87 of 2014 concerning population development and family development, family planning and family information systems. The family planning (KB) program is a program that seeks to regulate childbearing, spacing and ideal age of birth, manage pregnancy, through the promotion of protection and assistance in accordance with reproductive rights to create a quality family. Many couples of childbearing age still have limited knowledge about implant contraception, including how it works, benefits, side effects, and its safety as a long-term contraceptive method. This results in low interest and trust in the use of implant contraception. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that influence the decision of fertile couples in using implant contraception. This type of research uses a survey method with a cross-sectional approach, namely where measurements or observations are carried out simultaneously on the independent and dependent variable data. The population is all PUS mothers who use implant contraception in Bandar Khalifah Village, namely 45 people by total sampling. Data analysis uses the chi-square test and multivariate with logistic regression tests. Based on the results of the logistic regression test, this study shows that there is an influence of knowledge on implant contraception in Bandar Khalifah Village, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency with an Exp (B) value of 103.964. The conclusion of this study is that the variable of knowledge is the most influential factor on the use of contraceptive implants in PUS in Bandar Khalifah Village. Therefore, health workers should provide counseling and promotion to the community, especially in PUS, about contraceptive implants so that the community's knowledge and attitudes become better. The results of this study can be a basis for health workers, especially midwives and family planning officers, in developing more effective and targeted educational, counseling, and approach strategies to increase the use of contraceptive implants.

Abstract

Childbirth is a physiological event that occurs naturally, but it can be accompanied by complications that endanger the lives of the mother and her baby, thus contributing to maternal and infant mortality. Providing normal delivery care is one of the basic knowledge and skills that must be mastered in carrying out one of the midwife's competencies. One of the competency standards for midwifery graduates is being able to provide normal delivery care according to the standards and authority of midwives. The research to be conducted includes research that uses an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional research design. The sampling technique uses quota sampling, namely sampling carried out by predetermining the sampling to be used. The data collection tool (instrument) used to obtain data is a document study method or a data collection method that is not directly aimed at the research subjects. The type of analysis in this study uses a chi-square test. The results obtained a p-value of 0.001, which can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between knowledge about delivery care and skills in providing normal delivery care for students.

Abstract

The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) targets a continued increase in family planning (FP) coverage, particularly for IUD and implant users. This is expected to contribute to more manageable population growth (Central Statistics Agency, 2021). The BKKBN also launched a postpartum family planning program. Implementing postpartum family planning is crucial, given the uncertainty surrounding the return of fertility after childbirth. One of the advantages of postplacental IUDs is their lower risk of infection, ranging from 0.1% to 1.11%, and fewer cases of bleeding compared to bleeding with IUDs inserted during menstruation. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors influencing maternal interest in choosing postplacental IUD contraception in the third trimester of pregnancy. The population in this study was all third-trimester pregnant women in the Kusuma Bangsa Community Health Center working area, with a total sampling of 63 pregnant women. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. Factors influencing maternal interest in choosing a post-placental IUD in this study were employment (0.033), knowledge (0.027), husband's support (0.035), and midwife support (0.044). Based on these results, it is hoped that health workers can support and encourage the public, especially pregnant women in their third trimester, to use post-placental IUDs.
