Abstract

Perineal wounds in postpartum women can slow down the postpartum recovery process. Optimal wound care is needed to prevent infection and accelerate healing. Animal proteins such as chicken eggs and cork fish are known to have benefits in accelerating tissue regeneration. This study aims to determine the difference in the length of perineal wound healing between postpartum women who consume chicken eggs and those who consume cork fish at Saswa Medika Clinic in 2024. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a post-test only group design approach. The study sample consisted of 20 postpartum women who had perineal wounds, divided into two groups: a group that consumed chicken eggs and a group that consumed cork fish for 7 days. Wound healing was measured using the REEDA scale on days 4 and 7. Data analysis used Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that postpartum women who consumed cork fish experienced faster wound healing compared to those who consumed chicken eggs. The majority of mothers in the cork fish group had lower REEDA scores, indicating better wound condition than the chicken egg group (p < 0.05). Consumption of cork fish is more effective in accelerating perineal wound healing than chicken eggs. This study can be a reference for health workers in providing education about nutritional intake that supports the recovery of postpartum women.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional phase that is prone to stress due to physical, psychological, and social changes. Excessive stress can disrupt the balance of reproductive hormones, thus triggering irregular menstrual cycles. In Indonesia, 13.7% of women aged 10-59 years experience irregular menstrual cycles, and in D.I Yogyakarta it reaches 15.8%. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between stress levels and menstrual cycles in female adolescents at SMP Negeri 2 Gamping. This research method uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The population of this study was 60 female students of SMPN 2 Gamping with a sample size of 52 female students selected using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) questionnaire to assess stress levels and questionnaires regarding the menstrual cycle. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most respondents with moderate stress were 20 people (38.5%) and experienced irregular menstrual cycles. The results of statistical tests show a significant relationship between stress levels and menstrual cycles p = (0.001). It is concluded that there is a relationship between stress levels and menstrual cycles in female adolescents at SMP Negeri 2 Gamping.

Abstract

Because it is prone to a number of issues, including postpartum infection, the postpartum period is an important time. Wounds in the birth canal, which provide the perfect environment for bacteria to flourish, may be the source of this infection. Further difficulties could arise if an infection in the perineal area spreads to the birth canal or urinary system. Perineal wound treatment is therefore crucial. Maternal health may suffer as a result of cultural customs that are inadequate for caring for the perineum and a lack of knowledge about moms throughout the postpartum phase. This study's objective is to determine the degree of perineal wound care knowledge among postpartum women who had a normal delivery. Descriptive study using the successive sampling technique is the methodology employed. Fourteen postpartum moms with a maximum of second-degree perineal lesions made up the sample. According to the findings, four respondents knew enough about perineal wound care, whereas ten respondents knew very little. Therefore, to enhance maternal health following childbirth and lower the risk of infection during the postpartum period, midwives must effectively educate women on how to care for their perineal wounds.

Abstract

Maternal health is measured by the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR), where hypertension in pregnancy is one of the leading causes of maternal death worldwide. In 2020, approximately 302,000 maternal deaths were recorded in developing countries, some of which were caused by complications of hypertension. Approximately 10% of pregnancies globally are affected by hypertension, which can cause acute morbidity, long-term disability, and even maternal and infant death. Hypertension management is not only through pharmacological therapy, but also through non-pharmacological approaches such as upper back massage. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of upper back massage on reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure in third-trimester pregnant women at Cilegon City Hospital in 2024. The study design used a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest-posttest approach without a control group and involved 25 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The results of the paired t-test showed a decrease in mean systolic pressure from 144 mmHg to 133 mmHg, and diastolic from 93 mmHg to 83 mmHg, with a significance value of p= 0.001 (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that upper back massage is effective in reducing blood pressure in pregnant women in the third trimester, so it can be used as a supporting intervention in the management of gestational hypertension.

Abstract

The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook is an essential communication and educational tool in maternal health services. It contains information on pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, and child development, and serves as a health record for both mother and child. However, in practice, the utilization of the MCH Handbook by pregnant women remains low and suboptimal. This issue can lead to limited maternal knowledge and irregular antenatal care (ANC) visits. This study aims to examine the relationship between the utilization of the MCH Handbook and the level of knowledge and compliance of pregnant women regarding antenatal care. A quantitative research method with a cross-sectional design was used. A total of 100 pregnant women visiting the X Public Health Center were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed with Chi-Square and Pearson correlation tests. The results show that women who read the MCH Handbook thoroughly had the highest compliance with ANC visits (90%), compared to those who read partially (70%) or did not read at all (50%). A significant relationship was found between the level of MCH Handbook utilization and maternal compliance with ANC (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the MCH Handbook can serve as an effective educational medium when used properly and supported by health workers.
