Abstract

Stunting is a condition of a toddler's body that does not reach the proper length or height based on standards for his age.Prevalence data in East Java in 2022 alone is 19.2%. Meanwhile, the incidence of stunting in Bondowoso itself reaches 32% which shows a higher rate than the Indonesian average. The direct factor for stunting is food intake that does not meet the needs of toddlers. The occurrence of these factors is based on the basic causes or roots of the problem, namely education, knowledge and family income. The factors that cause stunting, namely education, knowledge and income, have been shown to have an influence on the incidence of stunting in toddlers. The study was conducted in Bondowoso Regency. The type of research was observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects in the study consisted of 63 stunted toddlers. Subjects were obtained using the simple random sampling method. Data collection on the characteristics of mothers of toddlers including education, income, and knowledge was carried out by interview, while the diet of stunted toddlers used the SQ-FFQ form. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately. Bivariate analysis used the chi-square test. The results of the chi-square test showed that there was no significant relationship between maternal education level, maternal knowledge, and family income with the dietary patterns of stunted toddlers (p-value ≥ 0.05). The results of this study indicate that there is no significant relationship between mother's education level, mother's knowledge and family income with eating patterns in toddlers stunting.

Abstract

National development is successful when quality human resources are available, which requires early preparation during adolescence with good nutritional status. Nutritional issues among adolescents in West Java Province, particularly stunting (24.1%) and overweight (16.9%) among individuals aged 13–15 years, remain high. These issues are influenced by suboptimal socioeconomic and demographic factors, as well as the low quality and diversity of food consumption, especially in animal-based foods (24%) and fruits and vegetables (16.9%). This study aimed to analyze the relationship between socioeconomic factors, demographics, and food consumption quality with nutritional status. A cross-sectional design was employed using primary data from 88 participants. The study was conducted in February 2024 at SMP Negeri 1 Cibungbulang and SMP Negeri 2 Cibungbulang. Participants were selected through purposive sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Inclusion criteria included grade VII students willing to participate in the study, while exclusion criteria included those unwilling to participate or with incomplete data.Statistical tests employed included descriptive analysis and relationship tests (Spearman and Chi-Square tests). The findings revealed significant relationships between maternal education level (p=0.013) and maternal employment status (p=0.041) with adolescent nutritional status. Additionally, food consumption quality showed a significant relationship with nutritional status (p=0.016). In conclusion, socioeconomic factors, demographics (maternal education level and employment status), and food consumption quality play critical roles in achieving optimal nutritional status among adolescents.

Abstract

According to Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics in 2021, the elderly population constituted 10.7% (29,128,542 individuals) of the total population in 2020. This proportion is projected to increase to 16.6% in 2035 and 19.9% in 2045. Knowledge of personal health significantly influences behavior, aligning with the level of understanding possessed. Oral health knowledge is a critical factor impacting dental and oral hygiene among the elderly. Poor oral health knowledge is commonly observed in older adults with lower socioeconomic status. The quality of life in the elderly is closely linked to oral health status. This study examined the relationship between oral health knowledge and quality of life among the elderly in Sembawa Subdistrict. It employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of elderly individuals aged 60–65 years, both male and female, visiting four elderly care centers (Posyandu Lansia) and the outpatient elderly clinic at UPTD Puskesmas Sembawa. Data were collected using a questionnaire adapted from oral health knowledge and the OHRQoL-13 quality-of-life questionnaires. Statistical analysis was conducted to assess relationships between variables, with significance set at p<0.05. Regression analysis of gender, age, and education characteristics showed no significant relationship with quality of life, with p-values of 0.948, 0.342, and 0.395, respectively (p>0.05). However, a significant positive relationship was found between oral health knowledge and quality of life, with an r-value of 0.168 and a significance level of 0.040 (p<0.05). In conclusion, while gender, age, and education were not statistically significant predictors of quality of life, oral health knowledge showed a positive and significant relationship with quality of life among the elderly.

Abstract

Pain during labor can cause psychological distress. As many as 87% of postpartum blues occur from 2 weeks after delivery to 1 year, 10% with depression, and 3% with psychosis. Giving effleurage massage is one of the non-pharmacological methods. In addition to massage, there is also rose aromatherapy oil containing Nerol, which is usually used as a therapeutic oil and can have a calming effect, reduce depression and stress, relax tension, relax the nerves, and reduce labor pain. The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of effleurage massage using rose aromatherapy oil on reducing labor pain during active phase I at PMB Cimahi City in 2022. This type of research uses a true experiment with a pretest-posttest design and a control group design, which divides 2 groups of respondents into an intervention group and a control group. The results showed that the average pain intensity of respondents before being given treatment in the intervention group was 7.1, while the average in the control group was 7.0. The average pain intensity after giving effleurage massage using rose aromatherapy oil in the experimental group was 5.05, while the average in the control group was 7.02. There was a significant difference in the average pain intensity in the experimental group before and after being given effleurage massage using rose aromatherapy oil. Thus, the provision of effleurage massage using rose aromatherapy oil is proven to reduce the level of pain in laboring mothers. Keywords: Aromatherapy Oil; Labor Pain; Massage Effleurage.

Abstract

Pain in cases of primary dysmenorrhea is a common issue experienced by adolescents and disrupts daily activities. The use of analgesic medications is a common method to reduce the perceived pain; however, some patients do not recover and continue to experience discomfort. Alternative interventions, such as acupuncture, can reduce uterine inflammation and ischemia, thereby alleviating pain. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of acupuncture therapy and auricular acupuncture for primary dysmenorrhea in the service area of Puskesmas 1, Denpasar Timur Health Office, from June to August 2024. This study employs a quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control group pre-test post-test design, using two treatment groups: one group receiving acupuncture therapy and the other auricular acupuncture therapy. A total of 36 participants were recruited using purposive sampling and underwent 12 therapy sessions. Data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro-Wilk test, with a significance value of 0.007, which is less than 0.05, indicating non-normal distribution. Consequently, the Mann-Whitney U test was used to determine the difference in means. Statistical analysis showed a calculated Z value of -4.233 with a significance level of 0.000, which is lower than the probability threshold, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. The acupuncture group exhibited greater pain reduction compared to the auricular acupuncture group.

Abstract

One of the main problems that teenagers often face is the high pressure on academic achievement, especially in a competitive education system . Adolescents are an age group that is vulnerable to various pressures and complex life challenges. The many changes that occur during adolescence, such as physical, hormonal, social and psychosocial, often trigger emotional instability in adolescents which leads to suicidal ideation. Resilience, or the ability to endure and recover from adversity, plays an important role in helping teens overcome negative thinking. Adolescents who have a high level of resilience tend to be better able to manage their emotions, seek social support, and find constructive solutions to their problems. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between the level of resilience and suicidal ideation among adolescents at SMK Muhammadiyah Kartasura. This research method uses quantitative research with a cross sectional design. This research uses total sampling in class 10 with a sample size of 101 respondents aged 15-18 years who will be asked to fill in demographic data on the Growth-Focused Resilience Scale (G-FRS), and Revised Suide Iedation Scale (R-SIS). The collected data will be analyzed using the Spearman's rho test. The results of this study obtained p-value = 0.035 (<0.05) so it can be interpreted that there is a relationship between the level of resilience and suicidal ideation in adolescents with low and medium levels of resilience. In conclusion, increasing resilience is one of the interests of preventing and reducing suicidal ideation in adolescents.

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is a condition characterized by total cholesterol levels in the body exceeding normal ranges. Tempeh flour has a longer shelf life and higher bioactive compound content compared to traditional tempeh. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of tempeh flour on total cholesterol levels in a hypercholesterolemic Wistar rat model. The study utilized male Wistar rats weighing 120–200 grams, with a total of 16 rats divided into three groups: negative control (K-) given standard rat feed (30 g/rat/day) and ad libitum water; positive control (K+) fed a high-fat diet (2 ml/200 g body weight via gastric gavage) and ad libitum PTU solution (100 ml); and treatment group (P), consisting of hypercholesterolemic rats given tempeh flour (1.8 g/200 g body weight via gastric gavage). Total cholesterol levels were measured using the CHOD-PAP method. Data were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA and paired t-tests. The initial (T0) data analysis showed no differences in total cholesterol levels between groups. Pretest and posttest total cholesterol levels revealed no significant differences in the K- group (p=0.072) or K+ group (p=0.056), while the P group demonstrated a significant difference (p=0.002). The mean total cholesterol levels in the K- group decreased from 71.17 ± 6.853 (pretest) to 65.17 ± 6.616 (posttest). In the K+ group, the levels decreased from 148.80 ± 11.122 (pretest) to 122.60 ± 20.144 (posttest). In the P group, the mean total cholesterol levels significantly declined from 127.40 ± 32.508 (pretest) to 79.20 ± 23.594 (posttest). In conclusion, tempeh flour effectively reduces total cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemic Wistar rats.
