Abstract

This study addresses the critical issue of cervical cancer, which stands as the fourth most prevalent cancer among women. With early detection being pivotal for successful treatment, the research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of deep learning-based models in cervical cancer detection. Leveraging the widely employed Papanicolaou (Pap) smear test, the study proposes a transfer learning approach, incorporating contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization for image enhancement. Convolutional neural network models, including AlexNet, visual geometry group (VGGNet)-16, and VGGNet-19, are employed to accurately distinguish between cancerous and non-cancerous cervical cell images. The evaluation metrics encompass accuracy, precision, sensitivity, specificity, F1-score, and the matthew correlation coefficient (MCC). Notably, the findings reveal the exceptional performance of the VGGNet-19 model, achieving an accuracy of 98.71%, sensitivity of 98.33%, and specificity of 99% for a single smear cell. This research marks a significant advancement in the application of deep learning for precise cervical cancer detection. The promising results underscore the potential of these models to enhance early diagnosis and contribute to improved treatment outcomes, thereby addressing a crucial aspect of women's health.

Abstract

This research aims to address the need for monitoring the behavior of organic and inorganic materials in hypergravity conditions. To fulfill this objective, a container with specific features was designed. The container has a box with a lid, measuring 10×10×10 cm, conforming to the 1U volume of the CubeSat standard. It includes four cylindrical spaces to accommodate the sample wells. The container was 3D printed using polylactic acid (PLA) wire. For the electronic components, four ESP32-CAM modules were utilized, with two programmed to capture and upload photos to the cloud, and the other two programmed to capture and store photos on a micro SD memory card. Additionally, four light emitting diodes (LEDs) were incorporated to illuminate the well spaces. The total weight of the container is 450 grams, and it has a maximum wireless upload distance of 10 meters to the cloud. The storage capacity of the SD memory card determines the number of images that can be saved.

Abstract

In this paper, a decision support system (DSS) is provided to assist the decision-maker in obtaining the best solution for the transportation problem under uncertainty. Fuzzy parameters of the transportation problem are presented by pentagonal fuzzy numbers. The centroid ranking function transforms these pentagonal fuzzy numbers into crisp ones. Then, a novel, improved greedy method named Dhouib-Matrix-TP1 (DM-TP1) is used in order to help the decision-maker promptly find a suitable solution. Specifically, this DSS is composed of three components: the data base component considers a pentagonal fuzzy number; the Model Base component thinks through the original heuristic DM-TP1; and the User Interface component deliberates the convivial graphical output of the generated transportation plan solution using the Python programming language. Experiments in the literature on fuzzy transportation problems show that the novel proposed heuristic, DM-TP1, is easy to understand and allows the decision-maker to handle transportation problems under pentagonal fuzzy numbers. Also, the DM-TP1 is robust and can be applied to find a feasible initial solution in less time.

Abstract

An efficient revocation of access rights in ciphertext policy attribute-based encryption (CPABE) schemes has multiple challenges, particularly for lightweight devices. Thus, extensive research on the existing studies enforcing and governing access control has been conducted. The methodologies used in the existing CPABE (bilinear pairing cryptography based) schemes to revoke users at the system and attribute levels have been focused on in the current study. The existing studies have been examined on the basis of the following parameters for revocation: type of revocation addressed, level of collusion resistance, dynamicity achieved, scalability of revocation, and computational cost incurred. It has been observed in the study that no single scheme achieves all the revocation properties and addresses both types of revocation. The module proposed in proxy-based and collusion-resistant multi-authority revocable CPABE (PCMR-CPABE) efficiently addresses both types of revocation and is fully collusion-resistant, dynamic, and scalable. The present paper extends the study on PCMRCPABE and presents a performance analysis of the module in terms of functional specifications and computational cost. The presented analysis has compared the performance of the existing cutting-edge schemes with the PCMR-CPABE module and has proved that the proposed module is better in terms of functionality and is computationally inexpensive.

Abstract

As the digital environment continues to evolve with the increasing frequency and complexity of cybersecurity threats, there is growing interest in using blockchain (BC) technology. BC is a technology with desirable properties such as decentralization, integrity, and transparency. The decentralized nature of BC eliminates single points of failure, reducing the vulnerability of critical systems to targeted attacks. The complex and rapidly evolving nature of cyber threats requires an earlier and adaptive approach. This review paper examined several papers collected from official websites. Focusing on using BC technology to improve cybersecurity, the main keywords of the review paper were BC technology, supply chain management, proof of work, and proof of stake. This review paper aims to investigate the security components through a threat assessment that compares the security of BC in different classes and real attack environments. It highlights the potential of BC to strengthen cybersecurity measures, citing unique features. The review paper also points out that there is a lack of focus on addressing security challenges related to computer data and digital systems and calling for a deeper discussion on problem-solving.

Abstract

Tea, a commonly consumed beverage, is susceptible to being sold in adulterated or expired forms by third-party vendors. Hyperspectral imaging across different wavelength bands has proven to precisely assess the diverse types of tea and their corresponding financial gains. This study aims to employ a deep learning methodology in conjunction with hyperspectral imaging for efficiently classifying tea leaves. A novel approach is proposed, wherein a waveband convolutional neural network is utilized to generate hyper spectral images of tea leaf samples with enhanced resolution. The model known as optimized-convolutional neural network-random forest O- (ConvNet-RF) demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving high accuracy, impressive recall, F1 score, and notable sensitivity rate, outperforming existing alternative methods. The tea leaf types, namely green, yellow, and black, were accurately identified using a combination of the random forest (RF) model and the O-ConvNet-RF model. The tree-based classification method for the identification of tea leaves demonstrated superior performance as compared to alternative machine learning models. In general, this study presents a successful methodology for the classification of tea leaves, with potential implications for consumer processing and distributor profit analysis.

Abstract

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) systems is significantly increased in the past few years. AI system is expected to provide accurate predictions and it is also crucial that the decisions made by the AI systems are humanly interpretable i.e. anyone must be able to understand and comprehend the results produced by the AI system. AI systems are being implemented even for simple decision support and are easily accessible to the common man on the tip of their fingers. The increase in usage of AI has come with its own limitation, i.e. its interpretability. This work contributes towards the use of explainability methods such as local interpretable model-agnostic explanations (LIME) to interpret the results of various black box models. The conclusion is that, the bidirectional long short-term memory (LSTM) model is superior for sentiment analysis. The operations of a random forest classifier, a black box model, using explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) techniques like LIME is used in this work. The features used by the random forest model for classification are not entirely correct. The use of LIME made this possible. The proposed model can be used to enhance performance, which raises the trustworthiness and legitimacy of AI systems.

Abstract

Blood pressure is an important cardiovascular health indicator, with normal values set by the WHO at 140 mmHg for systole and 90 mmHg for diastole. Excess of these values indicates hypertension, which increases the risk of serious medical complications. This research developed an internet of things (IoT)-based blood pressure monitoring device, which facilitates digital blood pressure measurement and data transmission to widely accessible applications and websites. The device uses an MPX5050GP pressure sensor, Arduino Nano, and NodeMCU ESP32, as well as other components programmed using the Arduino IDE. Test results obtained from 10 subjects, the device showed an average difference in systole of 7.9 mmHg and diastole of 5.4 mmHg. This complies with recognized accuracy standards of a maximum error of 10 mmHg and indicates that the device operates effectively with the designed concept.

Abstract

Currently, there is a need to improve the education system and develop interdisciplinary research at all levels of education, from school to postgraduate education. The introduction of interdisciplinary connections contributes to the formation of a holistic understanding of natural phenomena and the connections between them. Thus, this knowledge becomes more meaningful and applicable in practice. This article proposes a conceptual model of the content of education in the form of a thesaurus and ontology. The use of these models will allow you to adaptively select and systematize educational information. The article also discusses the possibilities and experience of using ontological modeling and engineering for the conceptual description of school and higher education. In addition, the article discusses the development of an ontological model of the process of expanding teachers’ competencies with the integration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. The use of ontological engineering methods will improve the quality of teacher education through the semantic description of knowledge in the subject area and the use of interdisciplinary and STEM approaches in the educational process.

Abstract

This research presents an innovative dual-band microstrip patch antenna design enhanced with defected ground structures (DGS) and barium strontium titanate (BST) thin film, tailored for wireless local area network (WLAN) and WiMax applications. The first design phase involved the development of an microstrip patch antenna (MPA) using an flame retardant (FR4) substrate with a permittivity (εr1) of 4.3 and a thickness of 1.524 mm, enhanced with DGS. This configuration achieved a single-band resonance at 4.1 GHz, with a bandwidth of 0.82 GHz and a return loss (S11) of -32 dB. The second phase involved the integration of a BST thin film, with a high permittivity(εr2) of 250 and a thickoness of 0.1 mm, into the DGS-enhanced microstrip patch antenna (MPA). This mdification led to a transformation in the antenna's performance, enabling dual-band operation at resonance frequencies of 2.8 GHz and 5.8 GHz. Further, there was a corresponding substantial increase in bandwidth to 1.34 GHz and 1.25 GHz, respectively, an improvement in S11 values to -16.3 dB and -21.4 dB. Moreover, and antenna’s size of 14×10×1.524 mm3 . The study underscores the critical role of innovative material use and design optimization in advancing antenna technology, offering significant enhancements in bandwidth, and miniaturization, for wireless communication systems.
