Abstract

HCD is an approach that covers all of the human aspects including aesthetic and ergonomics, which will provide a better approach in strengthening the HCI approaches to strengthen the software development process. Lack of guidelines to guide the software practitioners to adopt the HCD in software development process become the main concern in this study. Among the problems that faced by the organizations that have adopted HCD, including problem of managing the resources such as human, financial and infrastructure. Therefore, this study used a theoretical lens to get a better understanding of HCD integration form management perspective, namely operational, tactical (management) and strategy perspective in software development process. Furthermore, the HCDP model is employed in this study because it covers the HCD activities from the project planning stage to the implementation stage of the software development process and it emphasizes on the larger scope of human factors and require broader skills in software development process. As a result, a conceptual model of HCD integration has been developed which emphasizes on the importance of managing the resources and long term strategic planning for the organization.  This is due to long term strategic planning and managing organization resources appropriately will contribute to the success of the organization which will increase organizational performance.

Abstract

The high level electric field intensity produced by high voltage (HV) equipments inside 500/220 kV substations is harmful for the human (staff) health. Therefore the minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to the risk arising from electric fields produced inside these substations is still considered as a competitive topic for utility designers, world health organization (WHO) and biomedical field researchers. It is very important to have knowledge about levels distribution of electric field intensity within these high voltage substations as early stage in the process of substation design. This paper presents results of investigation 50Hz electric field intensity distribution inside 500/220 kV power transmission substations in Cairo, Egypt. This paper presents a method for assessment the distribution of 50HZ electric field intensity distribution inside this substation, this method of analysis is based on the charge simulation technique (CSM). This study will serve for planning service works or for inspection of equipment on HV power transmission substations.

Abstract

OpenGL based NC machining real time simulation model is proposed in the paper, and some key techniques of the system are investigated, including input and compiling of NC program, building of display model, real time displaying procedure of machining. With this technique, operator can view the machining process at screen of CNC machining real time, without stopping machine tool, which is very convenient for operating of machining. Abstract

The principle of the traveling wave based differential protection for bipolar HVDC transmission lines is proposed in the paper. Unlike the traditional current differential protection, the quantity of current is replaced by the quantity of the traveling wave for comparison. The traveling wave at the remote end is transferred to the local end for comparison to the local traveling wave. For the bipolar DC transmission lines, the polar-mode (aerial mode) traveling waves are employed to establish the discriminative criterion. The ground-mode traveling waves are utilized for faulty line detector for bipolar operation modes. The entire protection scheme is simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC associated with the standard ±500kV HVDC transmission system. The simulation results show that the new protection has the advantages of higher sensitivity, reliability and security. The fault resistance can be coverd by the traveling wave based differential protection reaches to 500 Ohm.  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.3700

Abstract

The development of cloud computing was highly developed and increasingly in demand by many parties. Cloud computing was very helpful to user to perform data storage without preparing own physical device. Cloud storage is a part of cloud computing where it can facilitate user to upload and download files, view file status. The main barrier to implement the private cloud was the difficulty in configuration of many components involved. These conditions minimize the implementation of the private cloud in many parties. In this research, we demonstrate cloud storage architecture simply by using only three nodes with OpenStack. The first node is the controller, the second node is object storage and the third is object storage. Elaborating the component that should be activated to implement the private cloud. The result of this research will help parties who want to build private cloud storage with simple network architecture using OpenStack Object Storage.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the operation and design of symmetrical and asymmetrical multilevel inverter structures with reduced number of switching devices. In this study, the term of conventional inverter is defined as a single cascaded inverter. Specifically, the inverter operates in three complete loops and only produces 2-level and 3-level of output voltages. Usually, cascaded structure suffers from the high total harmonic distortion. Thus, by considering multilevel structure of inverter, low total harmonic distortion reduction and voltage stress reduction on switching devices can be archived. Sinusoidal pulse width modulation and modified square pulse width modulation are used as modulation techniques in switching schemes of the designed multilevel inverters. The findings indicate that, the designed multilevel structure cause low total harmonics distortion at the output voltage. Furthermore, the asymmetrical structure is producing the same output voltage levels with reduced number of switching devices compared to the symmetrical structure is experimentally confirmed. The findings show that the total harmonic distortion for 7-level (symmetrical) and 9-level (asymmetrical) are 16.45% and 15.22%, respectively.

Abstract

Educational Data Mining (EDM)  research has taking an important place as it helps in exposing useful knowledge from educational data sets to be employed and serve several purposes such as predicting students’ achievements. Predicting student’s achievements might be useful for building and adopting several changes in the educational environments as a re-action in the current educational systems. Most of the existing research have used machine learning to predict students’ achievements by using diverse attributes such as family income, students gender, students absence and level etc.  In this paper, the effort is made to explore the effectiveness of using the deep learning algorithm more precisely CNN to predict students’ achievements which could hlp in predicting if student will be able to finish their degree or not.  The experimental results reveal how the proposed model outperformed the existing approaches in terms of prediction accuracy.

Abstract

As a result of noise interference, improper exposure and thick human tissue, detail information of DR image will be buried, including unclear edge and contrast reduction. This paper proposes a medical DR image enhancement processing based on artificial fish-swarm algorithm. According to DR image contour model and DR image boundary, the enhancement processing segment DR image by artificial fish-swarm clustering method, then enhance DR classification image through adding GAG operator. Simulation results show that the method can effectively eliminate noise in DR image, and the detail information of enhanced DR image is clearer than before meanwhile with high effectiveness and robustness. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i4.4305

Abstract

Cloud computing is making a big revolution in the field of information technology thereby reducing capital expenditures spent. Computing is delivered as a service enabling effective utilization of computational resources. Certain security issues exist which prevents individuals and industries from using clouds despite its advantages. Resolving such problems may increase the usage of cloud thereby reducing the amount spent for resources. The paper focuses on one of the three service delivery models, Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). PaaS model, layers in PaaS and PaaS providers are described along with the security issues encountered in PaaS clouds. Abstract

In this paper, a recursive inverse method is applied to solve the identification problem of inertia force between the cantilever and moving mass. The recursive inverse method consists of two parts: Kalman filter and recursive least-square algorithm. The basic Euler-Bernoulli beam model is introduced. Then, the differential equations and the state space model of the modal responses and the inertia force can be obtained. Finally, the recursive inverse method, which is based on the discretized state function of the system, is adapted. The identification results show that the recursive inverse method is suitable to be adapted in this problem.
