Abstract

Data visualization is an effort which aims to communicate data effectively and clearly to the audience through graphicalrepresentation. Data visualization efforts must be coordinated with an understanding into the Cognitive Learning Theory (CLT). In the sales domain, sales data visualization are made possible with the available Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, and others. These tools allow seamless interaction for the top management as well as the sales force with regard to the data. Sales data visualization comes with an array of advantages such as self-service analysis by business users, rapidly adapt to changing business conditions, and enable continuous on-demand reporting among others. The advantages of sales data visualization also comes with the challenges such as difficulty in identifying visual noise, high rate of image change, and high performance requirements. In an effort to reduce cognitive activity that does not enhance learning, sales visualization dashboard must be designed in a way that is neithertoo simplistic nor too complex to ensure that the Intrinsic Cognitive Load (ICL), Extrinsic Cognitive Load (ECL), and Germane Cognitive Load (GCL) are in sync with the audience. With the combination of sales data visualization and CLT, understanding complex sales details quickly is made possible by not only the top management of the organization, but also the sales force of the organization.

Abstract

With DEFORM-3D finite element software, by thermo-mechanical coupling method, the physical modle for bobbin tool friction stir welding was set up. By this model, the temperature field and flow field of AA 2014 aluminium alloy work plate of 6mm was analyzed, which provides useful information for the investigation of this new process. Simulation results show that the temperature field of the cross section presents symmetry approximately about the mid thickness of the work plate. The high temperature zone has large radius at bottom and top surfaces near the shoulders while small radius at the mid thickness, like a waist, which is verified by the experiments. The relativey highest steady temperature keeps about 360℃. Groove defects are easy to be found in the simulation.

Abstract

Design of a electrical impedance tomography system based on virtual instrument, the author firstly introduced the virtual instrument into the electrical impedance imaging from the perspective of hardware and software. The system use DAQ of NI to simplify the hardware structure and improve the stability. Software of system combines the advantages of LABVIEW and MATLAB, and verify some algorithms. Using NI virtual instrument, the system has strong expansion and do good basis for enhancing the performance of electrical impedance imaging system. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2319

Abstract

Nowadays, youths underuse their time, energy and creativity in a vast number of other activities, which lead to almost nothing in return. Thus, to fully utilise their huge potential of skills and abilities is by offering productive ways to attract young people in educational-related activities. This paper is presenting the community project on the network wiring system workshop that has been conducted for the young generation at Kg. Serting Ulu, Simpang Pertang Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The aim of participating in this project is to deliver the knowledge base and develop skills in technology and engineering. In addition, it is also intended to develop interpersonal skills, communication and lifelong learning as well as to increase the ability of a young generation to generate a side income by venturing into entrepreneurship field. Participants in this network system wiring workshop were exposed to a multitude of basic installation and wiring techniques in which they were able to shape their personalities with the advantage of acquired technology and engineering skills. As a result, the return on investment (RoI) and social return on investment (SRoI) targets for the workshop can be achieved. It was conducted at a rural area named as Kampung Serting Ulu, Simpang Pertang Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.

Abstract

The multi objectives in electrical distribution system are service restoration and minimization of Ohmic losses. These objectives can be achieved by artificial ant colony optimization through reconfiguration. Service restoration is also a major aspect for reliable service. If any fault occurs in the system, faulted zone is isolated from healthy system. This originates discontinuity in power supply. To maintain the continuity in power supply there is a necessity to provide service to these loads from adjacent healthy feeders through reconfiguration without infringement of radiality, load balance and critical parameters. In distribution system Ohmic losses are 30 to 40 percent. In order to minimize these losses, there is a need for reconfiguration of the system and perform the power flow analysis to get bus voltages, branch currents and power losses (i.e. real or Ohmic or copper loss and reactive power loss). A direct load flow analysis is adopted in the proposed work. In this paper four feeder test system used for service restoration and IEEE 33 bus, IEEE 69 bus test systems for minimization of Ohmic losses have been obtained.

Abstract

Weather reporting system consist multiple devices which are playing dynamic role in producing dynamic environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, and air pollution. It was a tedious task to bring all the devices together and make them interleaving to produce relevant measurement. Recent trends have proven that the IoT has brought all the devices and peripherals in one place to make more flexible and smart measurement. In the traditional weather monitoring system measurement method is not real time, not continuous and also tedious job to take continuous measurement. But, the IoT has completely changed the measurement scenario and improved the consistency of the measurement. In the present work the environmental parameters such rainfall, temperature, humidity, and density of carbon dioxide in the air are measured with sensors. The Arduino Uno card gathers all information from the devices which are associated with its port pins. The information is sent to cloud server for record and future retrieving. At the same time the data security in cloud been assured with encryption and decryption data while retrieving the information from cloud. This enhances the security, ease of accessing the cloud data from mobile applications, provides wise predictions and minimizes the communication overhead.

Abstract

The finite element model of the 1000kV Ultra High Voltage (UHV) AC transmission line porcelain insulator string voltage distribution and grading ring surface electric field distribution calculation has the characteristics of large size, complicated structure and various mediums. To insure the accuracy, related influencing factors should be considered to simplify the model reasonably for improving computational efficiency. A whole model and a simplified 3D finite element model of UHV AC transmission line porcelain insulator string were built. The influencing factors including tower, phase conductors, hardware fittings, yoke plate and phase interaction were considered in the analysis. And finally, the rationality of the simplified model was validated. The results comparison show that building a simplified model of three-phase bundled conductors within a certain length, simplifying the tower reasonably, omitting the hardware fittings and yoke plate and containing only single-phase insulator string model is feasible. The simplified model could replace the whole model to analyze the voltage distribution along the porcelain insulator string and the electric field distribution on the grading ring surface, and it can reduce the calculation scale, improve optimization efficiency of insulators string and grading ring parameters. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i2.3833

Abstract

Recently, ground marker based on the principle of acoustic detection has become the trend of pipeline technology. As to the difficulty and low accuracy of ground marker, this paper introduces a new MEMS bionic acoustic vector sensor with high sensitivity, good performance in low frequency and lower power. As to the problem of the port/starboard blur of this vector sensor in ground marking, it proposes a new plan and proves the correctness of the plan through theoretic analysis and experimental verification. The results show that the mean error of the directional angle is within 5 degree meeting the needs of the engineering project.
